On sept 30 I took My dog to see dr howlett at NG vet for a cough he was having. At that time he suggested is might be a Collapsing trachea. On December 7 I took him back to the same doctor for the same persistent cough that was getting worse. That day he asked if I wanted to have x-rays done of His chest, and of course I said yes. A few minutes later he brought Him back into the room and informed me that the x-rays showed a tumor, a 4 cm tumour in his chest. At that time I went in complete shock! He was also there to get his lyme vaccine and the doctor asked me if I still want it to give it to him I was speechless and could not think straight and he looked at me and said well it’s not going to be lyme that kills him anyway!!!!!!’ We were sent on our way with some prednisone and said to come back in a week for some more x-rays. In that time no other options were given. Nor was I shown The x-rays and pointed out exactly where the tumour was or asked, or should I say told that the x-ray should be read by an actual radiologist. Before I got home My husband was already on the phone with the vet college in Prince Edward Island because the delinquent dr didn’t suggest anything! The next day I called and informed the doctor that I wanted a referral for the college because you cannot just walk in off the street. On December 10 I showed up at the NewGlasgow vet clinic to get all of my dogs information including a copy of the x-ray. I could not read the x-ray so it was offered that another doctor come out and show me where the tumour was so I would know where it was located. I was informed that they could not clearly see where the tumour was. So I asked the protocol that they would’ve done on that day and would was told that they would have shown me the x-ray and of course said they would have and then suggested it to be read by a radiologist! They asked me if I wanted it to be sent off to a radiologist and I said of course...Yesterday December 11 Dr. Howlett called me because he had heard how upset I was! He told me that they had sent off his x-rays to the radiologist and it came back that there was NOTHING CONCERNING NO TUMOR on the x-ray!!!!!It was in that moment that some thing came over my body and I went off on him! Who does this Man think that he is to play God when he cannot even obviously read an x-ray! And to tell me that it wasn’t going to be Lyme that killed my dog anyway! If any of you deal with the new Glasgow vet clinic and you see Dr. Howlett come out to see your animal I beg of you to refuse his services! (You can’t miss the fat fucker) I am not the first person to not see x-rays taken by this man! How many people have taken his word on how bad their animal was and put them to sleep! How many animals has this man killed that might have been able to be saved! Today My pup is off to see a new vet and hopefully figure out why he has been coughing because seeing my for baby so sick is heartbreaking! I have asked for Dr Robb to contact me and haven’t heard from him! I will continue to try to contact him because this dr should not be practicing veterinary medicine! Can you just imagine if because of his breathing and thinking there was a tumour I might have thought best to put him down!! Maybe thinking he was suffering! DR HOWLETT a needs his license revoked! I have travelled from Truro to New Glasgow for over 15 years to come to this clinic because they are the best they have treated all of my pets whether they had an eye infection or a severe illness with greatest of kindness and care. Brought the dog in to get 2 stitches. The medical care as far as I could tell, was adequate. Excerpt that during the cursory examination of the cut the practitioner failed to do the most basic thing every doctor/nurse will often do before anything else *wash their hands*. Aren't vets required to follow standard medical procedure too? After all, didn't he or she spend all that money on at least a four year medical degree first? Just thought I'd point that out. Picking up my pet my debit card said insufficient funds. Made a phone call to have funds transferred. While waiting for funds, receptionist came out from behind counter and berated me in front of the customers. I quote "You know we are closed" - people still waiting to see vet. "It doesn't take an hour for a transfer" - it arrived on my way home. "You aren't getting your dog if you don't pay your bill" - never asked was waiting for transfer. "Now that we know you can't pay your bill you will have to prepay for the surgery she needs" - 20 years loyalty no outstanding vet bills. Soon as last customer left, I left without my pet. Returned next morning, paid bill, cancelled surgery date next week, took my dog home. Late for work, made her comfortable, went to work, came home to call new vet but it was too late. I don't blame the vet but want to thank the receptionist with no heart for publicly embarrassing me and taking my last night with my girl away. Will never step back in that door. Read Less

They took great care of our Molly Dolly when she had to go in this week for surgery to remove bladder stones. We are so happy to have her home and see her feeling better. They are always fantastic. I have been taking my pets there for many years and have always had a caring, compassionate experience. I had to have one of my cats euthanized and they were very compassionate and took care to check my other cat to make sure he didn't have the same disease. This is the best place to take your furbabies to.they treat your animal as if they were their own pet.you get the best price from any of the vets I have checked out I live in truro and spend the extra time to travel to this office because of the quality of care and the difference in price is so much as I have 5 furbabies the staff there rock!!!!!!!!!!! Staff told me they didn't have something not 3 minutes after my fiance had bought it from a different vet. And then didn't know why the weren't selling it anymore. First of all , I would like to Thank Dr. Rob for everything you had done for my dogs and puppies over the years ! We couldn't ask for a better Vet , Your just amazing and took very good care of our Fur babies,.. I am very pleased with your practice ... second, To Dr. Baird .... never in my life have I ever seen a vet or doctor with no compassion for animals, Now that I had almost three weeks too cool off , We are so disappointed in you , With you , over our little Bug ,, I took him to you at 8am on March 3rd, You never called us to tell us how he was , or nothing , we had to call you , not once did you tell us you never thought he was going to make it , or just how bad he was doing , or making the call to us , asking us to come to see him in case he didn't pull through ,, we didn't get the chance to say good bye to him so one of us or both could be there at his last min's of life... Sham on you Dr. Baird.. You knew how bad he was doing and how fast he was turning for the worst, and yet you couldn't pick up the phone for a 30 second call to us ! We love your dogs just like they are our kids, some of us have compassion, and love our fur babies no matter which creature they are.. You don't tell people what is going on with their pet, keep them updated , Nothing ! why did you choose to be a vet , if you don't have the compassion it takes to do the job ????? yes we are very sad and upset that we lost out 3 year old tea Cup Yorkie , and I know it's not your fault , but come on lady, these pets are peoples best friends , And I would like to know when I take my pet to a Vet, where they are supposed to help and do everything possible to save these pets , all the money we spend , and for what you not to inform people of how there pet is doing , or keep them updated , or to have you leave for the day and have your staff tell us that we have to wait until Monday to pick up our pets Remains !! that's days !!!!
