Great staff and facility but will unfortunately be switching vets. I quoted a pretty standard proceedure at three diferent vets and as it turns out i will be saving at least $150 to go anywhere else.... Read More

I recommend you do your research and "shop around" before emptying your pockets at south shore. Read Less

They are awesome. Caring. Compassionate. And understanding. They know that your pet is family and help you to make the best decision with all factors considered. Our boy is has kidney failure from Lyme. He isn't responding to treatment, euthanasia is the last that they can do. However he is not suffering, still eating, drinking, going outside. We brought him home to live out the course of his disease. They understand our choice, it's what is right for him now. Later on, will be different. We take it day by day!Read Less

everyone makes mistakes but i have nothing but bad things happen here. was told i should put down 1 animal that was completely fine a few days later. took a ferret in. got told they didn't know what was wrong, still got charged and that would look into it and call back. they never did. took a bird in and the same thing they charged me a crazy amount for the visit said they would ask around to find out what was wrong and call back. and just never did. if you cant provide a service fine. but don't take peoples money for doing nothing. We took our Bouvier Henry to SSVS after we moved to the South Shore. Over the past week he has had significant problems including major surgery. The professionals and support staff at SSVS are among the best you can find. The kindness, compassion and professionalism we were shown is the best you could hope for. It makes all the difference when your pet is in difficulty that you can find people who care as much for them as you do yourself. With SSVS they are in the best possible hands. Read Less

Choosing a veterinarian is a very personal thing.  We have four cats, and our priorities are to find well-trained people who actually care about our animals and who are kind and supportive to us, too.  We find all that at SSVS.  We drive in all the way from Lunenburg to have these folks care for our cats, and are so glad that they're here!  We had to use their after-hours emergency services a few weeks ago when one of our cats wasn't putting her weight on one paw. The doctor called us right back, made an immediate appointment, was calm and loving with both us and our pet, and quickly diagnosed both the foot problem (a broken toe) and a flea allergy, which we hadn't known about.  The cost was perfectly reasonable and the quality of care was first class.
