I agree with other reviewers that Dr. Ross, the technicians and staff of the Amherstburg Animal Clinic are all very friendly and good to take calls and questions and follow up on their patients, but after losing two pets both relatively young - an indoor cat (8 years) and an Australian Shepherd (6 1/2 years) - who were both under Dr. Ross' care and both with a clean bill of health until their ultimate illness', I feel the need to caution clients that if your pet shows little sign of improvement after weeks of treatment, to look elsewhere for a second opinion. Our dog went from sick to euthanized in a span of 4 months. We put too much trust in Dr.Ross and it was in the first appointment with our new vet in our new town that we learned how grossly under-diagnosed she truly was and the severity of irreversible damage that would seal our poor pup's fate. In our grief, I felt it necessary to let Dr. Ross know how our dog's treatment panned out by writing a letter to the clinic and was hopeful for a compassionate response, which I never received - after months of appointments, phone calls, and thousands of dollars spent. The prices for treatment at the Amherstburg Animal Clinic might be more reasonable than others in the area, but be advised. Read Less

The only vet that I've gone to that knows so much about cats, from first hand experience. Most vets are dog people, they barely know anything about cat health and behaviour. We've taken our cats to almost every vet in Windsor and have been given some questionable advise that we knew was wrong. The vet was through, precise, accurate, informative, very generous and helpful. They genuinely care about animals. If you have a cat, take them here. You won't be disappointed. Read Less

I took my male American Bulldog here for his Pennhip xrays, this is the only vet in essex county that offers pennhip xrays. After seeing the xrays i was not impressed with the dogs positioning. I also had other reputabke breeders look at the positioning and they were also not impressed. I didnt make a big deal of the issue. I simply voiced my opinion of the positioning. I then tried to book another pennhip xray for my female. American bulldog. I was then called back and told that that Dr. Ross had refused to take my business and not perform the pennhip xrays. Here is a customer who voiced their opinion on a service they paid a large amount for and rather than trying to work with or figure out a solution they were told that the doctor does not want to have you as a customer. Dr. Ross when i was at your clinic last time i never once seen or spoke with you. We never exchanged words, i spoke with your receptionist and said that the positioning could have been better. Ill take my business else where. Somewhere where they care about the customer and the quality of work they perform. I will never return here as i was told to avoid you all together by other vets in the essex county area. Read Less

I don't really know how to rate this vet because I was told by the doctor that I should return my dog to the rescue I adopted him from (due to behaviour issues he was having with my step daughter). I was shocked that a vet would tell me that without even examining my dog. I have since worked with a behavourist and my dog has made excellent progress with his aggression and fear issues. Even the behaviourist (who knows and has worked with this vet) was shocked that he told me to return my dog. I can say that he was very compassionate when telling me not to take the risk, but I am glad I didn't take his advice. We now go to LaSalle Animal Hospital and we love it there.Read Less
