Special order and they won't take credit card over phone without a copy of photo id. I getting my dogs records and taking my business elsewhere....even if it cost more. I've never dealt with such unwarranted attitude before, this from your main-line receptionist today. Was calling for a general estimation, which has been kindly given to me before, and was met with someone who clearly is over her day. Just kept interrupting to quote me the new animal fee and shut down the idea that an estimation for anything further was possible until I saw the vet and paid the new animal fee. We have been using Beattie for years with our Shephard dog. Today, I had a terrible experience with Dr Davis, which will stop me from visiting the Ancaster location entirely. Here's the story: 4 weeks ago, we brought our dog in for his vaccines. At that time we had a vet consult, and all was well. Today, we brought him back for his Booster. They charged me $45 for another vet consultation and $15 for the vaccine. When the vet, Dr Davis, came in, I asked her why I was being charged for another consultation. She could not give me a definitive reason why I was being charged $45. All she did was listen to his heart with a stethoscope and checked one ear - one ear! Instead of being to explain to me why I was being charged another fee, for a visit where the dog was getting 1 need, a single vaccine. She simply couldn't explain why. Instead she was a stumbling, bumbling, vet who couldn't justify this cost to me. Let me be clear, it wasn't about the money, it was that I didn't see the reason to pay this, when my dog wasn't getting any actual examination or check, nor did he require that. When I said that I'd be taking my business to the stoney Creek location from here on out, she simply said "you know we're all owned by the same company" - - such a professional response eh? The vets and staff here are so wonderful. You can tell they really love animals and it's not just a job to them. Everyone I met there was so happy to see you my dog. And he was happy to see them in return. What a wonderful crew. I can't say enough good things about this place. Trusted this location with the health care of my pet. Having switched vets I now see what is true care for my pets well being. This location cares about one thing and one thing only money $$$. My pet has undergone procedure else where since leaving this vet and I can tell you first hand they over use the amount of drugs during operations at beatie hospital. I recall a time where after having an operation my dog was unable to tell who I was other then sound of my voice. My pet is now the happiest I have ever seen him and is happy go lucky. Recently obtained a second dog my current vet gives discounts and allows joint consultations sometimes charges are waived as well free nail trims. Have met with people over time who used to work at this location and truthfully informed me neither staff or pet is treated with care that money is all that matters at beatie hospital. Read Less

The receptionist was rude and the staff were very un professional. If you book an appointment be prepared to spend the rest of your day waiting.. once you check in. They don’t even have courtesy to tell you that it’s going to be along wait. I don’t mind wait 20 minutes extra but have the courtesy and inform people it’s going to be longer wait coz people have life. There are many other better vets and cheaper too. We had to put our Golden Doodle down, and Beattie allowed us to do so with dignity and a price we could afford. I attended at the Ancaster location and was met with an enthusiastic receptionist that referred to my dog by name. I thought this was a very personal touch that we loved. The nurse and doctor were very informative and helpful. I did not feel pressured to get needles that did not apply to my pet's needs and I was educated about all needles given to my pet. The prices were reasonable and the location was perfect for our pet's needs. Since our pet is part of the family it was nice that she was made to feel that she was their number one priority. This is by far the worst clinic I've ever experienced in my entire life. They treated my 2 year old cat terribly. We had initially let them know she had anxiety and was very scared and they were very uncaring. She had a bad tooth that was loose and she had been nipping at her tail which caused a lot of blood and her to get extremely anxious. Our first visit consisted of waiting about 40 minutes even though she had an appointment, and vet #1 giving her a once over and telling us she needed 4 teeth extracted and that her tail would heal over time as it would dry up with air contact and to not wrap it. She gave us a price of $900 for dental surgery and gave us antibiotics. We took the antibiotics and said we would call about the surgery, which literally the next day her bad tooth fell out of her mouth she was fine with no pain. After about two days of taking the antibiotics she received panic attacks which made her chew her tail so we took her in as an emergency where vet #2 saw her in a decent time, however the assistant was very rude and said "i don't even know what's going on" and walked away when she wanted to take our cat to the back without us even explaining what was happening. Vet #2 wrapped her tail and gave her pain medication which helped out a lot and said to come back in three days to get her tail re-wrapped at no charge. When we came back just today for our re-wrap, we waited an hour and a half. I would usually not have any problem with that because I understand there are emergency animals and sometimes things can run a little behind but we had seen the entire waiting room clear out as we still waited. Even after being placed in an exam room close to the back after 40 minutes of waiting we had to wait an additional 50 minutes to be seen by the doctor when all they did was wrap the tail. Again I would have no problems with that, however, since our exam room was so close to the back I could hear the vets and assistants entire conversations. Vet #3 took our cat to the back to re-wrap her tail which she sighed on her way to the back, and I heard her try to find someone to help her doing the wrapping and overheard some girl say "I didn't eat all day I'm not doing it" and tons of laughing for another 15 minutes. After they wrapped my cat's tail we went outside to pay because they gave us new antibiotics in which they had charged us for the wrapping and when we explained that vet #2 had said our wrap would be free the secretary went to ask someone in the back, then came back out and just said "there's no note and there's nothing i can do unless you want to wait for the vet to come back out" and got very, very aggravated. She was not kind or concerned but rather uncaring and just wanted us out of her face, claiming she won't take our word for it and vet #2 wasn't in that day. We explained we have waited over 1.5 hours and that it's ridiculous how one person claims one thing and another claims something else and she just kept sarcastically replying that it's not her problem she's only going with their "policy." The wrapping wasn't an issue to pay for but the secretary didn't offer any solutions, didn't claim we could be refunded if we figured out the situation and only implied that we weren't being truthful since she wouldn't "take our word" even though we have spent tons of money there for three visits and have been taking all of our other pets with us. Currently, it's been about two hours and my cat has ripped off the bandage because they didn't wrap it properly, she's bleeding everywhere and won't stop biting at herself. Read Less

My story about coming to Beattie's doesn't have a happy ending, but my service was fantastic and the staff at Beattie's need to be commended. My aunt's dog (who is a family pet to us all) was very sick, I was at my aunt's house when she collapsed and was having trouble breathing. I called Beattie's and my aunt and cousin took her in and Beattie's got them in immediately to take a look. They gave her med's to treat her breathing. This pet hospital was very informative and helpful - kept my family updated and made check ups available when they could attend (due to work). My aunt took her dog back in for a few check ins, got some more med's and kept trying to treat her dog at home.Unfortunately her dog became worse and worse and collapsed again - we had to take her back to Beattie's and called all of the family to come and prepared for the worst. The vet staff were so helpful, caring and informative. They really gave us all the options and helped us make the best decision for the dogs well being. It was never about the money, it was always about what would be best for the dog and for the family situation. The vet walked everyone through the final option of putting her to sleep - and let the family has as much time and as much information as they needed. The vet did walk everyone through other options too, and weighed out all the pros and cons. They explained every little detail - which was very comforting and helpful. This was the worst case scenario but everyone felt in good hands.Honestly, everyone was so impressed with the level of kindness and understanding of Beattie's. DO NOT GO HERE IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY. I called Beattie at 11:30pm the other night because I believed my dog was suddenly bloating and I thought that they were a 24-hour hospital. Bloat is a life-threatening emergency that must be corrected surgically within a maximum of 2 hours. Everyone in the veterinary field knows this. I explicitly said on the phone my dog was bloating and he told me to drive 1/2 an hour from my house to their Stoney Creek location. When I got there, there was no urgency on the part of the staff. It took 20 minutes before they checked him and only then did they tell me that they do NOT have the facilities there to deal with bloat. I could not believe my ears. Why didn't they say that on the phone when I called??? The vet insisted on doing xrays, which took another 20 minutes, at which time the vet told me yes, he suspected bloat but that I would have to drive another 35 minutes to the Mississauga-Oakville Emerg hospital to have the surgery. !!!!! All this time my dog is hacking, trying to vomit, even vomited up blood, and they had NO sense of urgency. They didn't even inform me that there is actually an after-hours emerg hospital with surgical capability right in Hamilton I could have gone to (I only found this out the next day from someone else). Beattie directed me to the Mississauga-Oakville hospital because it's the one they are affiliated with -- so getting my money was far more important to them than saving my dog's life. I drove another half an hour in the pouring rain in the middle of the night while my dog is heaving and throwing up blood in the car the whole time. The story does not end there. Beattie was supposed to call ahead and make sure that Mississauga-Oakville could accommodate my dog, that they were ready for him. Guess what...they couldn't. Their one and only doctor was tied up in surgery and wouldn't be able to see my dog for another 2-3 hours. But Beattie never told me that. I got to Mississauga-Oakville and when they told me that the doctor was busy and couldn't see him I had to drive another 40 minutes to the VEC in Toronto, where finally at 3:00am he was properly and professionally looked after. It's a miracle my dog even survived that nightmare night because it turned out that he didn't have bloat but aspiration pneumonia. Thing is, neither Beattie or Mississauga-Oakville knew that -- for all they knew it was bloat and he could have easily died due to their lack of care and resources (which he also could have from the pneumonia). I will be submitting a formal complaint to whatever governing authority oversees veterinary facilities because their entire manner of dealing with a life-threatening emergency was unethical, irresponsible and could easily have resulted in the death of my dog. Unconscionable. Do not go here if you love your pet and need any kind of emergency care. Read Less

My cat recently had dental surgery here and they were just amazing! Wouldn't go anywhere else. And I love that if you have an emergency you can go to the Stoney creek location in the middle of the night with no emergency fees. She takes the time to discuss your concerns and goes out of her way to help. I have had to take my dog Parker to her now a few times now on a rush basis and her level of care and service is above and beyond . We have been going to Beatie Animal Clinic in Ancaster for quite a few years now. Dr.Macdonald is our family's vet. She is loving and gentle, understanding, thorough and highly knowledgeable about the caring and well being of our two American Bulldogs (Laya and Obi). Our furry family members (especially Obi) absolutely love her! Dr.Macdonald has been the only vet that Obi is comfortable with in letting near him. The clinic is clean, the employees are kind. There is not a single negative "thing" that I can say about this clinic? We will continue to go to Beatie Animal for the amazing care and reasonable pricing in regards to the caring of our fur babies.Why would anyone want to go anywhere else? The lady on the phone was rude, wouldn't book me an appointment without having the exact age of the dog, she made it more difficult than it needed to be. I tried a few other options to figure the age out 1) the age of the dog when I picked them up to now (not good enough) 2) have the dogs previous record transferred which that office said they can do (also not good enough) Frustrated because it was a simple call to book an appointment. She is compassionate and caring, especially with our 16 year old yorkie Nash and I would recommend her to anyone with a pet. The facility was remarkably clean, I was blown away by the modern feel of the clinic as well as the size. The staff were friendly and helpful and the vet was amazing! My 18 year old American Eskimo was no longer responding to food. he wasn't able to go outside let alone stand or walk for more than a few steps. He has never been sick, but in the just year lost some teeth, lost his hearing and sight. My daughter and I made the difficult decision to end his sufferng. Very disappointed with the customer service and vet service I received for my dog. I went in 2 weeks ago for annual vaccinations and check up. The doctor gave the once over and said he is looking good. Being a first time dog owner I thought this was great, and I was good to go. I brought my dog to his groomer a week later and he was infested with fleas. She had mentioned that there were so many that they would have been there for his appointment and there is no way the vet could have missed them. So I went back to the vet to make mention of my problem. The receptionist was rude, and didn't offer me much guidance in what the next steps were, as I was looking for care to protect my indoor cat at this point. I was being polite and patient and her wall was up immediately and made mention that I will have to pay to get my cat seen then pay for treatment. Cost was not an issue at this point, my animal's well being was. With this rudeness, presumptions and lack of care for my animals, I have since transferred my business elsewhere. And can HIGHLY recommend Upper Ottawa Animal Hospital. Their routine check up of my animals was PHENOMENAL. I now know what care is. Read Less

This is for the Stoney Creek location!!!!Brought my German Shepherd puppy in to get spayed today, had a 7:30 am drop off time, was told it would be done by about 3 because she was the first drop off of the day, at 3:50 pm I called to be told they hadn't even done the surgery yet and there was no telling what time she would have the surgery, I had to argue with the Lady on the phone who insisted that my puppy was resting in her crate nicely even though she was at the Brantford office not Stoney Creek, I got to go pick my puppy up and bring her home with no surgery, I am from Stoney Creek and now I am going to drive my dog to Queensway in Simcoe where I know they treat these dogs much better. My puppy hadn't eatin since 9 pm the night before and hadn't got to go pee since 7 am!!! If there was a 0 star option, they would get that!!! Your prices may be decent but your service is the worst I've ever seen!!!Read Less
