Stay away!!!! These folks could care less about your pet! What they care about is your visa number! We spent approximately 5000 dollars on a surgery to ATTEMPT to fix our dogs leg. The surgeon (who you never get to meet) was very good at explaining things on the phone. That was the only positive thing about this! After surgery they hand you a pamphlet and some meds , and send you on your way. “Call us if there are any issues” no follow up calls or anything. So, the dog has issues 3 weeks later and can’t walk on his leg again. Something is obviously wrong. So obviously we call. We get a rude, could care less person who answers the phone. I explain the situation and we get told “ yeah, we act like a human hospital and triage our clients, you are more than welcome to wait out in the parking lot for a while” I then explain that I live an hour away and that it was their surgery that has went wrong” Again they could care less. I eventually said I would take him somewhere else. My response was ok and she hangs up on me!! Once they have your money, they are happy! They could care less about your pet. i had a very sick cat when we took him in to see the vet. they informed us that the chances were not looking good for recovery but we put our faith in the doctor.we left him overnight and went in for a visit the next day,he was not looking well, but he was alive.we left him for a couple of more days, visiting him regularly. we brought him home hoping that his own enviroment would be a help in healing.it was ,he gained a little weight and seemed to be happier. However the story does not have a happy ending, less than 3 hours of taking him in to have a IV tube taken out and getting a good check up,he passes away at home.we rushed him back but it was to no avail.the people at this clinic were nothing short of amazing, from the receptionist to Dr.Trish herself and everyone in between.they are the best at what they do.After we mourn for our cat we will start the process of getting a new one, about 6 months,it will never replace our Fitz but a new cat will be loved as much.thanks again for everything you did and do. Our dog got attacked at a dog park nearby and our normal vet wasn't answering the phone so we called O'Sullivan, the lady on the phone was reassuring and said if we think he needs to be brought in then we should definitely bring him. They tried to make an appointment but since his wound was bleed they said to come in around 9, mind you this was after 8pm, we got there at 8:32 and the staff was pleasant and kept my husband and I calm. The vet was really good with our dog and we are planning to go back there from now on. Yes it was expensive but my dog got the best care and will continue to receive great care at O'Sullivans. If I could give a zero I would. They felt around our 14 year old dog Lexi for a short time, decided she had an ear infection and prescribed (expensive) ear drops, which we took. We thought it was odd they didn't do any blood work or scans but felt the doctor knew best. A few months later, she started falling down when she was walking, and they said it was still just the ear infection throwing off her balance. We suspected something more serious was hiding and this time pressed harder for X-rays and blood work which they said would cost $1500. This cost seemed extremely high so we said we'd think about it, and they still charged $140 for the visit. We took Lexi to another vet who did the X-rays and work up for $400 and they found terminal cancer on her spleen, which was what was causing her to fall down. We asked for a refund on the $140 visit from O'Sullivan and - are you ready for this? - they refused, and offered free physicals for 12 months. Lexi has a month to live and they know it. What an absolute slap in the face. We have been taking Lexi there for many many years but something changed in the last couple of years. They do NOT care about giving caring, thorough care. How they could let this slip through the cracks is one thing, but not refunding the $140 visit - which was actually just a conversation - and offering free physicals in return is evil. Read Less

My dog let me know that "it was time" on a statuary holiday. I contacted O'Sullivans as my vet was not open that day. Right from that call they were compassionate and understanding. When I brought him in they already had a room prepared for myself and my family to spend our final moments with our best friend. They let us decide how long we needed and never rushed us. You could tell how much they cared and felt for what we were going through. They were so gentle with our boy and made sure his final moments were comfortable. They were not pushy but ensured I was aware of all the after care options and made sure all of that was taken care of first so we could just concentrate on our boy. And today I received a heartfelt condolence card from the vet herself. Their pricing is not outrageous. Trust me I've dealt with outrageous pricing with some other vets. I was very very happy with the staff at this 24 hour vet hospital. So i truly don't know why anyone would give it 1 star. From the time we got there to the time we left , we were treated with respect, compassion and understanding. Having to bring my 5 month old kitten in for breathing problems and not eating for 3 days, they showed us they cared. Everything was explained to us step by step. We were never pushed into a decision , by them. We were given what they thought was wrong with my kitten Zelda. In the end I decided to euthanize . They were very kind and I thank the staff. People have to remember that veterinarian's aren't God but they have to start somewhere to find out what's wrong with your furry family member. Animal's can't talk to the vet but the veterinarian really really trys her best. Thank you again to the staff. I RECOMMEND THIS 24 HOUR VET HOSPITAL. I'm still upset about the lots of my kitten and it will take a while to get over her. Thanks again 😁 Read Less

We took one of our cats to this location as they were the only local vet that was open on a Sunday - I feared that the costs would be higher given the emergency nature of the location - however, the prices were very, very reasonable! The front staff was very kind and helpful, Dr. O'Sullivan was amazing! She took her time making sure to discuss the diagnosis process and treatment options with us, and displayed a genuine concern and care for the welfare of our cat. Looking at some of the negative reviews, I can't imagine that these people came to the same place as we did, as I would strongly recommend anyone who has an emergency need to come to this location. Doing some research of our own prior to the appointment allowed us to have a meaningful discussion with the Dr., and at no point in time did we feel as though we were being pressured into a service or medication that was unnecessary. Went to O'Sullivan Hospital Saturday night with my puppy who had an eye infection. Dr. Watson was really nice and seemed to be very knowledgeable. Puppy received medication that worked very well and issue has cleared up. For people complaining about the price - first of all this is a 24/7 facility. Those kind of hours mean higher costs which are of course passed on to consumers. I found their prices, while yes, higher than my normal vet, are very reasonable considering their operation. I am very thankful that Barrie has a 24/7 vet. Imagine what would happen if we didnt! My poor puppy would have had to suffer until Tuesday when I could get her in my normal vet (it was a long weekend). Very happy with my experience, although I do plan on staying with my current vet as I am extremely happy with their care and prices. That said, in an emergency or off hours, I would not hesitate to go to O'Sullivan Hospital. Read Less

Well about a year or so ago I came in with my 7 month old Siamese cat, who had a hurt leg. My infant daughter was playing and jumped and unfortunately landed on her. She spent two days not moving so I decided to bring her in. O'Sullivans was the only vet open at the time so we went there. First off the doctor examined her. Said she's 100% sure she had some ear mites. (Common, easy fix) but then was told she was going to do a test which we'd have to pay for anyways. I said we'll hang on we just want some X-rays so we can decide what to do next. X-rays were done. Came back that she had a broken pelvis. Okay well that's that. I already know I can't afford the bill to fix it. So we opted to put her down. I was then told I could take her home and hope for the best but I would not be allowed to do so unless I spayed her that second. For a ludacris amount. Again I said I am unable to afford it at this moment. Well have to out her down. Whilst in the midst of making this very hard decision. I was then told that maybe I shouldn't have pets or children. Um what?! Needless to say. We paid our absolutely ridiculous bill of almost a grand for an X-ray and euthanasia and left. WILL NEVER RETURN.Read Less

Honestly the best vet ever. I've had my cat Karl for 12 years and I've been through a lot with him. About 10 years ago he broke his leg, I brought him to the huronia emergency clinic and I was treated horribly. The only good thing was that they referred me to o Sullivans. I was told at the emergency clinic I'd have to put him down. Well O'Sullivans made sure that didn't happen. They helped me every step of the way with Karl and made sure his leg healed which it did. A few years ago he was diagnosed with diabetes and I brought him in again, it was quickly diagnosed and I was shown how to give insulin and how to treat him. Now this past Tuesday night, he must of jumped off some furniture and he ended up fracturing his ankle on the opposite leg that he previously broke. I was a wreck but my boyfriend called and our appointment was in an hour. They treated us with nothing but respect and gave us a treatment plan for Karl. The vet told us that there were a few different options and told us the ones she thought were necessary. Yes going to any vet is expensive, but I told her that I only had about $500 to work with and I was very pleased at the outcome. So thank you to all the staff at O'Sullivans animal hospital, I have only positive things to Say about you!Read Less

I am blown away by any of the negative reviews for O'Sullivan Animal Hospital. This review is a bit long, but I truly want to thank this clinic for all they have done for my family and our pet! My family initially came to this Vetinarian Clinic for an emergency with our dog. He was having seizure like episodes and we had taken him to another vet earlier in the day. He was not responding to the medication given to us by the first vet so we brought him to this clinic. When we came to O'Sullivan, the staff was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The vet was also extremely kind, gentle, and VERY knowledgeable. He did some tests and immediately diagnosed our dog, Pugsley, with Syncope (a heart condition). He was put on medication and was back to his old self for two years. We contiued to bring Pugsley to this clinic to ensure we were getting him the best care. When the heartbreaking time came for us to put Pugsley to sleep, we brought him to O'Sullivan. This was one of the hardest times for us as a family and this clinic and the staff made the worst experience a little better. For anyone commenting on the cost of this clinic, yes - it is a little bit more expensive but you will get the best service and care possible for your pet. It is more than worth the little extra it costs to visit O'Sullivan. We are so glad that we found you, thank you for everything you have done for us and the amazing care you gave to our family pet. We appreciate all the little things and big things you do and we would recommend you (and do) to everyone we know! We will be forever grateful for the comfort, care, and love we received from your staff and clinic!!Read Less

We just took our Boston Terrier Ramsay to this animal hospital. Like many pet owners, we wanted to know what was wrong and have some answers. Together my husband and I decided how we were going to handle this situation. Each time an option was suggested and we were not comfortable with it (either because we felt it wasn't necessary or because we felt it wasn't the right direction) we would tell them flat out "no that's not a good idea because of this". We have to be our own advocates as well and can't expect them to make everything better without trying options (or at least suggesting them). We DO NOT have pet insurance. We expected it to be expensive, but truly had no idea how expensive. We chose to own a pet. We know what could happen when owning an animal. We were direct and up front with them, which I think they respected. We had x-rays, ultrasounds, meds, pain meds, fluids, AND surgery completed. Yes, it was very expensive, but we were not asked to pay up front. We paid when we left each night for each procedure we had done (we did some out patient care at first) and when it came time to do surgery, they absolutely asked for a deposit. When buying a house you have to put a down payment. Same like a car or anyone you hire, etc. Because it is a large purchase. It means you're serious. It means you're committed. Typically the average Joe or Jane doesn't have thousands to spend. We didn't, but O'Sullivan's Hospital treated Ramsay (and us) amazingly. They helped us out with some discounts and just loving my dog. Was I skeptical sometimes when they made a suggestion - of course. Just like with my own doctor. We are over the moon with their service. It takes a lot to run a large facility 24 hours and I called another 24 hour hospital in Barrie and they were much more expensive then O'Sullivan's by the way. Thanks to the entire team! My dog fell very ill early on a Sunday morning 5 hours from home. O'Sullivan was one of the only open vet clinics, and I almost didn't stop by after reading some troubling reviews in here. Fortunately I had one of my best vet experiences ever. The Hospital looks almost brand new, every staff member I interacted with was friendly + caring, and my dog was seen right away. The veterinarian was very knowledgeable, presented me with a recommended treatment plan, and was very respectful of the approach I proposed. They were then able to turn around a full panel blood test that I would normally wait days for in less than an hour, and the costs of the visit were actually less than what I would pay at my non emergency vet at home. My home vet also got all the documentation from our visit right away, and we were able to continue regular care back at home seamlessly. She's coming to the end of this life and with the help of the doctors and staff we're confident that's she's getting the best care possible. They're knowledge and commitment in helping our pets and us is such a comfort. Thank you so much. Read Less

Love this clinic! It's great to have a clinic that is open 24/7 and doesn't charge emergency fees. The doctors are very caring and compassionate and take the time to thoroughly examine our pets and provide us with detailed information. With a family of 5 pets, we are frequent visitors to O'Sullivan. The staff are all very warm and welcoming and treat us like family. They always follow up to check and see how our pets are doing after going in for an appointment. One of our pets is currently experiencing health problems, and Dr. O'Sullivan has been great at taking extra time to research what she thinks could be the cause and provides us with options to help us further diagnose and treat. Would recommend this clinic to everyone! Read Less

Simply amazing.  I drove there on a Sunday from Collingwood because I was worried about my puppy's reaction to some food he had gotten into.  They rushed out and did an initial triage assessment immediately and then followed through with a full exam after a more than reasonable wait time for a walk in non-client.  Fortunately the pup was fine with just a belly ache for excessive gluttony but they still called twice to follow up over the course of the next week by phone and sent a card.  If I lived in Barrie I can guarantee you this would be my full time vet clinic. I took my puppy here to get neutered because my normal vet in Toronto (who I love) is incredibly expensive for this procedure. I was given the recommendation to go here by a fellow dog owner and I saw that there were good reviews so I made the decision to take Bonzo here to get neutered. They did a great job with the surgery. My problem was with their employees. I got a call after his pre blood work was done and was told based on his results he either was dehydrated or had kidney disease. Keep in mind he was not allowed water since the night before, but I paid the $78 extra to get a further test done. I was told if it came back that he was dehydrated we would be good to go with the surgery. The test comes back and great news! He was just dehydrated so I said go ahead and she THEN tells me that I should let them test him for Addison's disease (another $78-$100). I said no because this was not something that would conflict with the surgery plus I didn't understand why this was not brought up when they first called me with the initial results. The employee then asked me if I knew whether my dog was 100% a Bernedoodle. After I assured her that I had met his parents and he was from a breeder she kept challenging me! Said they thought he had Portuguese Water Dog in him. I told her she was wrong and she all but hung up on me. I was quite angry that this went down. Especially since my dog was about to go under for surgery. So - overall good vet but they have some serious customer service skills to work out. Also, their credibility got thrown into question over the whole Addison's disease thing. I would not recommend this clinic to someone else for these reasons. Read Less

Ramsay is home recovering as we speak <3Read Less

We took our sweet pup here from Toronto for a massive surgery, and were totally blown away by the care, compassion and understanding they showed us. A vet even came in on her day off to help out. They were very patient with my frequent follow-up calls, and if we'd lived closer, we would've certainly taken advantage of their free follow-up appointment. Thank you so much for taking such good care of Bo! Read Less

I was in and out in a couple hours, my dog Lola bounced back to good health, and my vacation was saved. I wish this place was in Ottawa! Read Less

I would just like to say a huge Thank you to everyone at this clinic!! I called in, in a panic as i found a big tumour like lump and ball on my dog and the receptionist was able to calm me down and get an appt for my dog asap! Now i am always scared of vets as u hear horror stories about them and miss treating animals but i must say when we arrived after our 1.5 drive to get there they where so kind and generally concerned as i was about my dog! They gave her amazing care and where so helpful with finding out whats going on with her!! as the problem is not resolved yet but she is on meds now and we will be back in 2 weeks to do a check again and see how everything is going!!! The care that we got at this clinic made the drive so worth it and we will continue to come back here!! Again thank you everyone!! Read Less

I'd like to say thank you so-much to all the staff and a special thank you to Dr. Watson. Chloe has been going there for awhile now having Hydrotherapy. We know she's getting the right treatment and care now. I'm so glad I found O'Sullivan s hospital. Last night we had to bring Jada in. She's our 17 year old cat. She's coming to the end of this life and with the help of the doctors and staff we're confident that's she's getting the best care possible. They're knowledge and commitment in helping our pets and us is such a comfort. Thank you so much. Read Less

Very caring and supportive through a trying and emotional time with one of our puppies. Very surprised when they offered a "no charge" follow-up visit. The most amazing part was that they called at least 3 times after our visit to check on our dog ... This certainly showed a level of care and compassion that I have not experienced at other veterinarians.

Read Less
