Would give 0 stars if possible. My puppy (8months) was hit by a car. I rushed her in. Her leg had a fairly large cut and was obviously broken. Within 5min I had an 1100 bill, I am a single mom and full time student, so I paid half upfront and put half on a payment plan. Was then told they wanted to keep her for 1/2 the day to monitor her (understandable)as well as xray her leg. I came home and recieved a call that her leg was in fact broken and that the options were surgery or splint. I was told the surgery was $5000, and that it had to be paid upfront. When I said I didn't have $5000 upfront for a surgery and asked about the splint, the lady on the phone tried to convince me to go with the surgery, I again stated I didn't have $5000 upfront for a surgery, and was told "if you can't afford your pet the next option would be considering surrendering her to a resuce". I was in disbelief. I called a different vet and went to pick up my baby from these awful people to take her to someone else. When I picked her up her leg and paw were still unwrapped. They had had her for almost 2hours at this point and had not even bandaged her cut. She bled the entire way to the new vet. I paid these heartless, unprofessional people 1100 to give my puppy a pain med, and an iv/fluids and a xray. The second vet we saw IMMEDIATELY wrapped her leg to relieve pain (free of charge) and gave her pain meds to make her as comfortable as possible. They then went over her xray with me and the options of splint or surgery( which I could finance) and explained that although it was a bad break it was clean and given her age she had an extremely good chance of a full recovery with a SPLINT. That entire vist (5+ hours) cost me 200. Plus her meds. She is now at home, and doing well. NELSON ANIMAL HOSPITAL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PETS OR THEIR FAMILIES. THEIR MAIN CONCERN IS MONEY. I still can't believe I was told to surrender a member of my family because I couldn't afford $5000. Most insensitive thing ever said to me. Stay away from these people. We will NEVER be back Read Less

I would give 0 stars if I could. It seems that one of the main vets that works here likes to rip loyal customers off when you are least aware of it. What I was charged was 2 times more of what other vets would have charged for the same service. Not to mention follow-ups at other vets would have been a courtesy visit with no charges but this vet will nickle and dime you for every single little thing. It is truly a breach of trust. They are polite and nice upfront but watch what they charge and not charge you for when you are least aware of it. Dr. Visconti has been very caring and generous with her attention and patience. I'm a new dog owner, and since I rescued Leo in July there have been several times that he has needed veterinary care and I have needed guidance. On our first visit Dr. Visconti took plenty of time to answer my questions and I value that she allowed me to build trust in her. At our most recent visit, Dr. Pillitteri showed the same kindness, consideration, and willingness to go the extra mile to make me feel very grateful we are cared for at Nelson. Read Less

Nelson Animal Hospital was recommended to me by a friend and when I called this morning to make an appointment for my three year old mix, Augie, they got me in right away. Dr. Dianne conducted our appointment and I was blown away by her professionalism and gentle behaviour towards Augie. She did the entire appointment in the room with me instead of taking him into the back. She walked me through what she was doing the whole time and explained what was causing all the discomfort. She did everything she could to make sure Augie was put at ease and ensured he would associate the clinic with liver treats instead of being poked and prodded. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a new vet or wanted to switch over. Read Less

Hands down the best Animal Hospital I have ever been to. Each and everyone of the staff members are extremely caring and know the value of what our pets mean to us. I'm unfortunate in the sense my dachshund has had some health problems, but extremely fortunate that it's Nelson Animal Hospital I get to take her to. Each and every single time I've walked in the door, the service is absolutely unlike any other. The staff are so patient and profession with us worries owners and make you feel as everything will be handled to the best of their abilities, which seem endless. Each and every staff member are so knowledgeable and have a calm and cool attitude. With myself being a crazy and over protective dog owner, they make me feel so at ease. They do not push you in anyway to spend money on unnecessary tests or products. They speak from the heart as if they were talking to their own family member. I remember I told them once, I would like to do what I can for my baby, but I hate to say that I don't have all the money in the world. They completely agreed and didn't make me feel horrible as that's just the case for anyone! They gave me a few different options of what I could do, cost efficient and a more direct route and explained the pros and cons for each. I did not feel and pressure at all. Dr.Sharon Grant has got to be one of the loveliest ladies I have ever met in my life, and I mean that whole heartedly. She is so compassionate and well informed that when she explains to you what she thinks needs to happen, you truly believe your beloved pet is in the best of hands. Nelson Animal Hospital without a doubt goes the distance when it comes to our pets. I will NEVER go anywhere else in the world. It's a 5 star service, and it will not break your bank. Dr. Grant is also absolutely amazing. She's got the biggest heart for animals and you can truly hear passion when she talks and always has the animals health in mind first. I did not feel any pressure at all. I am so fortunate to have heard about this lovely Hospital. Thank you for all you do! -Dahlias Mommy Read Less

By far the best Animal Hospital in Ontario. Every single one of the ladies here are so kind and caring. Dr Dianne is the most amazing, kind hearted woman and an even better veterinarian. She's very informative of everything that's happening and never leaves a question unanswered. She makes me feel very comfortable about the health of both my cat and puppy. Dr. Grant is also absolutely amazing. She's got the biggest heart for animals and you can truly hear passion when she talks and always has the animals health in mind first. Not only for animals but also for us! She makes you feel comfortable. I will bring future animals here and recommend this hospital to everyone I know. They never fail to amaze me with their knowledge and how they treat both me and my animals. Thank you all!!! xo Read Less

I will be forever grateful for Dr. Grant and her staff for the support they gave Jessica and Dana and I during Boog's life cut short by cancer. As a mother, watching your daughter and son-in-law hurt so bad and feel so helpless is excruciating. Dr. Grant is an amazing human being and her dedication to her clients changes their lives and makes such a devastating time in their lives bearable. My heart is broken as I write this, I cannot express how grateful I am to have had Dr. Grant take us through this journey. I miss Boog so much and he will live forever in my heart. Thank you Sharon (& Michael) for your compassion to Boog and our family on Saturday. I will never forget that. Read Less

We had a very sick 9 week old puppy on our hands and decided to see Dr Grant when our new vet couldn't figure it out, she had a diagnosis within 24 hours. Unfortunately we lost our puppy in the middle of the night at less than a year old and she called as soon as she found out to give her condolences and offer her support. We couldn't have asked for a better vet or better staff, we had a great support team through our puppy's sickness and passing. Thank you nelson animal hospital. Read Less
