I have been taking my dog there for almost 6 years now have always had a great experience with fair prices as well as follow up visits were usually free of charge and the Vet's here really are amazing. HOWEVER...I have recently had to take my cat in for an exam and was blown away by the decor in there new location. This place is extravagant with chandelier's and beautiful leather couches and I'm assuming this is why there prices have SKYROCKETED. i love my animals and will do anything for them, vet services are already quite expensive as it is, and i'm not ok with spending over $100.00 for a 15 min exam and having to be there for 2 hours for no reason at all. My dog blew his ACL. This place nearly cried saying I need surgery. I said I wanted 8 weeks to see if there was any improvement and go a natural way instead of $5000 surgery. They gave me a hard time saying he needed the surgery. Then he blew his other knee compensating (typical)Happy to report through a natural therapy that he is 100% saving me $10000. Every time we go here we get told to go to a different flea and tick the one offered today is getting dogs sick. The staff recognized this. Why give my dog something new? Then tried to say we need to treat dog through winter. Ticks don’t live in our winters !!? The vet and the people who take care of the dogs are amazing. However I wish front staff would stop up selling every chance they get. We love our pets and I feel like they are trying to take advantage of that. Read Less

I brought my cat here because it was the only place open past 9. The service was excellent, the vet that took a look at him was excellent as well (I think her name was Sophie, I believe she was from New Zealand or Australia). And to my surprise, she called back about 5 days later to ask how he was doing! They make you feel like they really do care about your animals, and there is absolutely nothing better than that! I brought my dog in after she was impaled by a stick while out for a run. Although we use another clinic, they were able to see us right away. My dog had a surgical procedure to clean the wound and explore how serious the damage was. I am very pleased with the communication from all of the staff at Animal ospital of Cambridge. The care for my dog was excellent. Compared to the cost of a prevous abdominal surgery my dog had at her regular vet, the pricing here is great, especially for emergency care. Honest, respectful, pricing is on par with everywhere else, beautiful facility. We just had to put our cat down as he was very old and sick. Absolutely love this practice. Dr Kathy provides nothing short of excellence service every time we see her. All of the vets, rvts, and office staff are knowledgeable and friendly and we never feel as though they don't care or are talking down to us. We bring all of our pets here regularly and have never had a bad experience. AMAZING staff, reception, and overall experience. Dr. Ellie and her team was a dream and made my experience more comforting than I ever could have imagined. I came in with my very sick cat who was showing no improvement since I took him to another vet office in Kitchener. Dr Ellie and her assistant worked with me for hours to get the best price possible as well as find the best options to figure out what was wrong with my baby. She comforted me and spent hours explaining the options all while giving me time to think and discuss with family. Using her clear knowledge of animals and how their body functions, as well as relating to personal experiences, she was able to put my mind at ease and create a sense of peace with my decisions. Upon the passing of my beloved cat, I received a card with a personal message from each of the staff at the hospital. I couldn't be more greatful. I would pay double to go see Dr Ellie again. After having a few unimpressive and disappointing experiences at other vet clinics, I was thrilled with the service and my experience at this Animal Hospital of Cambridge. Dr. Anna S. is extremely knowledgeable, kind, gentle and is a fantastic veterinarian. It is clear that she actually loves and cares for animals, and demonstrates evidence of ample education and expertise that seems to be lacking where it is needed most in far too many vet clinics today. Bringing my rescue kitten for his first check-up with Dr. Anna, I observed what was a very thorough and careful examination, got to understand more about my kitten's health and condition, which treatments and doses were chosen and why, and Dr. Anna pleasantly answered all my questions in detail as well as casually informed me of many small, but key details and information that made me feel comfortable, informed and content. If it was possible I wouldn't give any stars at all! DO NOT GO HERE. We have been bringing our dog here for 3.5 years. It wasn't until recently that we were treated extremely poorly. A few weeks ago we brought our dog Mac into the vet to take a look at his hind leg. He'd been stiff for the last couple weeks and it wasn't getting better. The Vet came in and did not even check his ears or his paws. She examined his spine and his leg briefly. The vet determined that we should get X-rays for both his legs and his hips at a cost around $600. This seemed a little steep considering when I made the appointment the receptionist said around $250 for X-rays. We booked the appointment for a few days later but I canceled the appointment. We decided to let him rest for a day or so and monitor his movement. He seemed to be fine, no pain or really any movement problems after that appointment. About a week and a bit later, he couldn't put any pressure on his leg, so I called immediately to make an appointment. We had isolated the injury to the lower part of his back left leg and wanted to X-ray there only. When asking about the possibility of this, the receptionist told me she needed to speak with the vet to determine if this is plausible. I was told I would be getting a call back later that evening. I received no call. The next morning I called again. No answer. Voicemail left. Around 2:00 in the afternoon, I left another voicemail. No call back. My boyfriend finally got home around 6:30 that evening and was told that no one had gotten back to me. He called this time. After speaking with the first receptionist, it was told that there was no record of any of the phone calls or voicemails that were left. He asked to speak with a supervisor. When the "supervisor" came on the phone, the person began to be argumentative with him saying that WE put our dogs health at risk. My boyfriend kindly told her where to go and hung up. We have not received any other contact from this clinic. Upon immediately switching vets(to burgess animal clinic which is awesome), we had an appointment booked the next morning. Mac was diagnosed with a severe foot infection, ear infection and possible ACL tear/pull. After receiving his medication, we were told to monitor his improvement and bring him back for X-rays if he doesn't improve. The quote for the X-rays was $300, with the exact same films quoted on both from both clinics. Luckily, Mac is doing way better. Heed this warning. They over charge here. It's robbery. They do not do their due diligence. They charge $100 for a check up. Burgess charges $60. They wanted to charge us $600 for X-rays. Burgess is $300. I will never recommend this place. What a wonderful place! The staff truly care about each and every animal in their care. When my cat went in for dental surgery, each of the staff were so gentle and loving with her. They completely set my mind at ease beforehand, giving me all the information I could possibly need, and then kept me updated throughout the day. We adopted our baby from this hospital and the care and support was superb. There was a free medical insurance provided for the first few weeks and we needed it. Our baby was a puppy that was rejected by a pet store. She ended up having a virus that almost killed her but they saved her and the expenses were covered by insurance. Just before the holidays, my family and I made the very difficult decision to move our dog, Buster, on to the next world and end the severe pain he had been dealing with daily for months. The Animal Hospital had helped us to help him manage it but his life, and he, had not been the same for quite some time. I love this animal hospital. Their facilities are always clean, their staff friendly, their service is efficient and my pets get great care. They've helped my pug through a bladder stone and eye removal operation, and stitched my shepherd's cut paw. Their vets provide thorough attention to every animal and their invoices clearly lay out prices; they don't gouge your wallet in that they provide options. Adopted a puppy from Animal Hospital of Cambridge for $600 which was to include all worming, shots and neuter surgery. Visit # 1 - charged extra for worm pill, didn't make a fuss. Visit # 2 - after confirming twice that there would be no additional charges for the surgery at all, the morning of surgery I am presented with an estimate of $284-$540 to sign off on. After involving several people, it was agreed that the neuter surgery was included in my adoption fee. Next I get a phone call that the dog has ear mites and it's $44 to treat it. I agree and request a second dose for our other dog (which ended up being backordered, but they charged me anyway). We take our other dog to our regular vet the next day to have them both checked. NEITHER of them had any sign of ear mites. And I am still waiting for this business too refund the money for the medication that is backordered, that I do not want, for a condition my dog does not have.I'll give these people the benefit of the doubt and suggest incompetence instead of fraudulent practices. I also get a strong vibe of being a "rescue" service that is really just a money making scheme. Go to a proper humane society or SPCA branch for a proper adoption not the scam that I've been suckered into.Whether you are seeking incompetence or fraud from a vet, that seems to be what these people offer. And I wouldn't go back to this place if they were the last vet on earth. Read Less
