We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sean Lawes and his team for the excellent care he gave our 5 year old chocolate lab Cedar, from the time of diagnosis, to consulting with Guelph Oncology, providing pain management and palliative care and then to helping us come to the difficult decision to do the right thing for our beloved dog. Your kindness and compassion throughout our pet's cancer journey got us through a terrible time and we cannot praise and thank you enough. Thank you for your donation to Guelph Vet College animal research in Cedar's memory. We highly recommend Dr.Lawes and his team!

My second experience is one that instills anger in me when I reflect upon it, I have no intentions of ever returning. I made an appointment for my dogs ears to be cleaned and to get ear medicine. It was reiterated with the vet. It was obvious to me as I have had her for 8 years it was a mild irritation so hence I made the appointment with the vet who stated "they weren't that bad." Without asking me, he took it upon himself to have his technician perform a full checkup, I was charged for both their time on this checkup. The vet enters into the picture and looks at her ears and stated " they weren't that bad." Then without asking took swabs and without telling me he was sending them to a lab. The whole bill was over 220.00 dollars and he didn't even clean the ears. I felt scammed and taken advantage of.

My cat Rocco became very ill very quick. I brought her in on a Monday and the Dr. saw her right away. They walked me through the different treatment options & tests to find out what was wrong with her. They took tests and wanted to see her again at the end of the week for a check up. Well, two days later I got a call with the test results that Rocco likely had leukemia, and they wanted to tap her chest & drain/test the fluid to confirm. Within a week of seeing her, swelling had developed all up her throat. I brought her in that Friday to discuss options and quality of life. Because of how aggressive the cancer was, her quality of life was deteriorating quickly, and I made the heartbreaking decision to release Rocco of the pain she was living in and let her pass. Through the entire experience, every staff member was caring and compassionate. They walked me through every and all options before me, and supported me with the decision I made, assuring me it was the right one for her. I recommend their services to any and every one. We also have a beagle that we take there, and always satisfied with their services. Incredibly caring; they treat our pets like family just as much as we do. I am thankful to have found Collingwood Veterinary Services.

The care at the Collingwood Vet is second to none. We have taken all of our pets there in the last year and it is one of the best decisions we have made. Dr. Shawn is an amazing vet and person and we highly recommend him and his staff to anyone who asks. Although our dog Digby passed away we found out today that a donation was made in Digby's name by Dr. Shawn to the University of Guelph. Just another human touch that the staff and the doctor bring in tough times.

Interesting to see that I can't find the Dr.'s name or information on the website. It's another concerning point in the review I'm about to write.
I do not trust him.
When our kittens were returned to us yesterday one of their faces were swollen twice the size of it's usual norm. I asked if it had been an allergic reaction to one of the vaccines, the anesthetic or the anti-biotic (Which they gave to him because his nose was 'stuffed up' which wasn't true at all either unless something random happened inside the vet office, so that confused me)
His response was to completely ignore my question entirely and tell me that "He was rubbing his face against the cage all day."
Well rubbing his face against the cage means he's itchy and wouldn't have made his entire head and throat swollen so I'm calling bullshit on this.
Today they called to check up, I voiced my concerns (to the really awesome receptionist!) and she got him right away to speak to me.
He proceeded to repeat, word for word, everything -I- said to him the day prior. "I believe that is a reaction to one of the vaccines or, ect. ect."
When I told him that's exactly what I asked him about yesterday and that he ignored my concerns which caused distrust and worry to arise within me, and that it made me feel as if I shouldn't take my animals back there.
He apologize and proceeded to claim that it was because of his face rubbing again.
I told him that makes no sense.
He hung up on me.
Never going back again if I can help it.

Animals can be much more then a pet they can be a friend or even a part of the family. To them we are family. There may come a time when your pet may need a Veterinarian. Collingwood Vet service is where I take my little friend "Mao" i received updates on his condition during surgery and I was given clear instructions on Maos home care recovery. The next day I received a phone call from them asking me how Mao was doing. Its been just over a week and Mao is doing great. Thank you for fixing him up.

I cannot even begin to thank Dr. Lawes and all of his amazing staff for all their care and compassion with our sweet little Ducebear. Feline diabetes is a tough disease and researchers are only beginning to scratch the surface. The clinic has gone way above and beyond to help my fur baby and I thank them a million times over!!! :D

The care at the Collingwood Vet is second to none. We have taken all of our pets there in the last year and it is one of the best decisions we have made. Dr. Shawn is an amazing vet and person and we highly recommend him and his staff to anyone who asks. Animals can be much more then a pet they can be a friend or even a part of the family. To them we are family. There may come a time when your pet may need a Veterinarian. Collingwood Vet service is where I take my little friend "Mao" i received updates on his condition during surgery and I was given clear instructions on Maos home care recovery.
