If I could leave zero stars, that would be my rating of this vet. Our cat was diagnosed with diabetes last year, and we opted to treat him as palliative. We were told of what to expect over time, and from that, we knew that there would come a time to have him put down. In the fall, we went away for 2 weeks, and leaving him at home under care of our neighbour. My went went to the the office to refresh herself, in order to inform the neighbour. Not only did they NOT want to provide us with the information, they reported us to the SPCA for animal abandonment. The SPCA agent visited us to see the cat, and didn’t even bother to get out a pen to waste the ink. He was in far superior health than expected, and the agent said he was fine. On top of that, the vet, Dr. Ken Storimans, discharged us from his service. We have been cat owner/lovers for over 30 years and have never been treated like this by any vet. He also botched the euthanizing of another neighbour’s cat. They said it would have been more humane to shoot it, rather than what they witnessed. This vet has a checkered past. Make sure you do your research on this clown and his circus. Check with the long time locals if you are new to the area. There are reasons the long timers don’t use him. Read Less

I brought my Dog here for an ear hematoma, and I refused to do a surgery as it was risky because she is 6 years old and deep chested breeds are high risk being put out, the owner was very rude and did not seem to care at all. After we left he wrote on my dogs file that we left without paying our bill.. When I refused the surgery I asked if there were any charges for the quote they said no. And we left. what vet tells you they are not up on nutrition when you ask why they would prescribe a dog food full of corn for a diabetic dog, after spending over 1000.00 on glucose curve tests we saw a different vet there who finally told us we could test glucose at home, now after seeing our dog a few months ago are refusing to sell us more insulin until we do another glucose curve test even though the dog is fine and had no changes since his last visit Read Less

Best vet care possible. Recently I had to take my 14 year old beautiful dog in to put him to sleep. The treatment we received was of total kindness and dignity . The dog was scheduled for a surgery. The night before the surgery I thought wow I have not heard about any instructions for the dog - meaning the dog should not eat or drink after midnight. I called the office to inquire when the lady answering the phone said she called you and left a message on your VM? What? I told her NO! No one called nor left a message in my phone. Regardless, I thought wow why would you leave a message this is important information that should be giving directly. I’m wasn’t impressed at all. Very thankful for the entire team at Elmvale vet. Our little kitty Navy is now at home after a two day ordeal which included unexpected day surgery for a ruptured anal sac. I have so many things to say about how the team made a scary experience manageable. First, they are very accommodating. We were fit in, encouraged to call and communicate with them which was important as our cats health did change in a 12 hr period. They went to extra lengths to make sure we were informed on her situation and different options available during the day. We got a detailed quote on the worst case situation ahead, which ended up happening and it helped us be prepared. The facility is lovely. It’s very clean and open with several areas including enough space to separate cats in crates from dogs which isn’t always possible in all waiting areas. The admin team is excellent, they are cheery and easy to chat with! Our cat saw both vets, Dr. Alfred and Dr. Storimans and both were excellent. Very ignorant, wouldn't stop talking so I could ask questions and when I finally could get a word in, one lady interrupted and told the vet she had to return a phone message and then they both walked away! Our dogs are our kids.we took karma to be fixed told one price.we got the bill it was double.then she had complications since.they did not even call to remove her staples. All of her pups go there n we r afraid they too will be hurt .beware .they r in it for money.not like a doctor not to care for there patients. N there care unfortunately didn't cut it.wen I complained n asked y. The vet told me that I must forgot to take my meds??really appreciate that.n please beware if you love your animal avoid .. Very disappointing service. A shocking lack of compassion in dealing with my family members who came in with an emergency with their dying and suffering dog. For blood work and x-rays and a little checkup they were charged $500, and were told that they could not leave with the dog after the exam unless they paid the full $500. They only had $300, as they have low income and are on disability. The clinic would not allow them a payment plan and they refused to work with them on the price, they were forced to stay there for hours while they called around to get someone to transfer money to them so they could pay. I have NEVER heard of a vet clinic being so insensitive to the desperate need of an animal who is suffering. Avoid Elmvale Veterinary Hospital unless you don't mind being overcharged and demeaned.
