A tough review to nail down.On the one hand, Doctor Wolfer gave our boy back his sight! The operation was a total success, Dr. Wolfer a total pro, and the facility itself very clean, organized, and professional. That alone should be 4 Star material so please read my explanation as to how I arrived at 3 when things could not have turned out better. The only negative aspects are in regards to what I perceived as nickle and diming.First of all during the initial consultation we were told that the operation to remove our dog's cataracts (from one eye) would cost about $5,000. Unfortunately that number was actually just north of $8,000 once factoring in follow up appointments and medications.Speaking of follow-up appointments, be prepared for a LOT of them. One a DAY to start with and close to $300 per (that works out to about $30 a MINUTE for Dr. Wolfer's time)Now, the eyes are about the most intricate and sensitive organ we've got and the margin between sight recovery and permanent blindness can be razor thin. Dr. Wolfer is a professional and cares about his work so obviously he wants to catch any complications early. Still, it stings a bit to know you're paying a couple of grand for a handful of 10 minute appointments where you hear "everything's great" (but I bet the appointments where he says everything is TERRIBLE are a LOT more expensive :)Eventually the weekly check-ups became every two weeks, then every three, now every month but had we not finally said enough is enough and stopped I have no doubt I'd still be paying $30 a minute every few weeks. Also, the medication is extremely expensive when purchased from the clinic (and of course they will make it easier to buy from them than your local WalMart pharmacy). You can save about %40 by buying your meds elsewhere.Still, at the end of the day, Professional staff, excellent doctor, and now MY DOG CAN SEE!I would go back here in a heartbeat. I'd just do it with a better understanding of the long-term costs.I also looked at Forest Hill Animal Clinic as they are one of the few other animal eye specialists in the city. Animal Eye Clinic is magnitudes more professional. Forest Hill does not even work by appointment. Read Less
