Please be very diligent and aware that this clinic only cares abput money. My father recently passed away and we were unable to come to ONE appointment with our dog. There was no follow up or call to see how our doggie was doing. The OWNER/VET decided to report us tothe Humane society because we missed that one appt. We were also urged totake our dogs eyes out! (He can see just has inflammation) and eventually plan was to euthanize him but prior to put him on heavy meds apparently for pain. We saw 0 improvement with or without meds for our dogs arthritis. He still can not walk but that is a lifelong illness aparently. We treat him with herbs and it seems to be working wonders. There was a lot of information in their reports pertaining to our whereabouts etc where every person in their office could read. They are not only validating privacy code of clients but also harming animals by doing unnecassary surgeries only so and as long as they get money. Please be aware of this.

They’re not the cheapest vet, but they care and give fantastic care and advice! I’ve never met another vet more down to earth (all the vets at this clinic are awesome). I love how they get down on the floor with my dog - I know he would hate being forced to stand on the exam table, but they’ve never even tried to make him do that. I know if makes their job more difficult but I appreciate that my dog drags me into the vets office rather than trying to drag me away!

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. However, ridiculously expensive. Also, aggressive sales tactics - want you to buy a $270 package right off the hop, and if you don't, things get pricey fast. Expect to pay a minimum of $95 for an annual exam that includes no more than temperature, a quick feel, and a heartbeat listen. Disappointed, and broke!

I have taken my Golden Retrievers to Guelph Animal Hospital since the mid 90s starting with Harley and most recently with Gibson. I have even been travelling from Hamilton to Guelph over the last 10 years in order to ensure that my dogs get the best care possible and that is only available at GAH based on my experience with some vet clinics here in Hamilton. Their compassion for Harley, a cancer survivor who had to have one front leg amputated, and Gibson, a love-sponge who left us way too early, has demonstrated to me the importance of finding a vet who is a leader in their field. Dr. Butler is our favourite but all of the vets are superb because they attend training courses, educational seminars, and product seminars in order to ensure that they can provide exactly the care that you and your pet deserve. I have always chosen traditional veterinary medicine for my dogs but GAH also provides homeopathy, naturopathy, massage, acupuncture and more for those that may be interested. Their clinic offers in-stock specialty foods, supplements, grooming aids, toys, accessories and more at reasonable prices. All of the staff at GAH are friendly and truly love your pets like their own. I couldn't bring myself to write this review sooner because I was so upset to even think about it. I brought my dog here for his annual check up and did the wellness test mistakenly thinking this would let me know if anything was wrong. 2 weeks later he collapses and dies from hemangiosarcoma, an aggressive and deadly cancer that starts in the spleen and then spreads to the heart...by then it's over but he might have had a chance had we caught the tumor in the spleen. Wellness testing would never show any of this and I was told afterwards that the only way to detect tumors would have been xrays but more ideally ultrasound. Given the fact that my dog was 8 years old, a large dog and predominantly white, factors that show a higher risk for that type of cancer, I would have paid for an ultrasound had it been even recommended. Of course dogs get cancer all the time unfortunately but early detection is critical right? I was told by the emergency vet that we could have had his spleen removed and he may have been fine. I'm not saying the Wellness test is a complete waste of time but it is if that's all you are doing. It doesn't give you an overall picture of your dog's health like I was led to believe and like I said I was sent home with a dog Guelph Animal Hospital said was completely healthy and 2 weeks later he died!

The staff at GAH are hands down, the most knowledgeable and friendly veterinarians in town. You feel welcomed the moment you walk into their beautiful practice, with the friendly staff at front. The techs and vet spend time getting to know your pet, and treating them like their own. I transferred to their clinic after our previous vet couldn’t address a reoccurring health issue for our dog, and after one visit at GAH she is back to normal and thriving. They also have some hollistic treatment options, which I appreciate having available to me. If you are looking for a friendly, amazing and knowledgeable place to care for your animals look no further!

They treat your animal as if it is one of there own . charley had problems urinating i had no appointment with them at the time . i rushed him to there hospital in guelph within minutes he was seen and taken care of . found out later he had a blocked urinary tract caused from gall stones . they got the blockage open and relieved the pressure .there is no doubt that they saved his life . they went beyond there duty to save him . he went for surgery next day as you know surgery was not cheap .i was able to work a payment plan with them . thanks to guelph animal charley is still here and healthy as ever .

Usually very good - but it can depend what vet you see. We have 4 pets and bring them in for their annual checkups 2 at a time. It would be nice if they read the comments from the previous visit for all of the pets, instead of just the ones we have with us at the time. It is also quite frustrating that the same cat that was "the perfect weight" on the last visit and has since lost a very slight amount of weight was deemed "above the ideal weight" this visit. If she lost weight how is she now overweight when she was ideal before?? Also received the comment that we should keep an eye on our dog's weight when he is currently the ideal weight, simply because he gained about 4 lbs in the last year - which is normal considering he just came out of being a puppy and only recently would be considered fully grown. Next time we will request our preferred vet - Dr. Ilana Smolkin is great. Having different vets give us different information is very frustrating and just looks bad.

Extremely professional, courteous front desk staff made me feel very welcome as I stepped in with my dog Molly for an Integrative Therapy Consult with Dr. Butler. We had arrived early, and the support staff updated me regularly about when Molly would be seen. Prior to our meeting with Dr. Butler, RVT Rachel greeted us warmly, offered Molly treats after politely asking me if that was all right. Rachel also took a detailed history on Molly. Shortly after, Dr. Butler joined us in the room, again making us feel very welcome by providing Molly with a few more treats, before asking me for further details about Molly's recent history and conducting a physical assessment. After a long conversation, Dr. Butler suggested some herbs shown to benefit animals with similar conditions, and other steps we can take going forward. Outstanding customer service and professionalism. I only wish I'd known about this practice sooner. Also, the gift shop is very cute!

I absolutely love this place. They took such good care of me and my furry companions over the years. My cat Chui was a client of theirs for 11 years. He got all his booster shots as a kitten from them. And when I immigrated to England they made sure he had all the necessary documents and care. And they were there to gently and compassionately guide me through the process of when I had to say goodbye.

I'm so grateful for everyone at the Guelph Animal Hospital. My beautiful German Shepherd had a rough few first years of his life, dealing with a number of skin problems that caused so much discomfort, itchiness and balding. I was at a loss about what to do; we had seen several vets, tried countless medicationsit seemed hopeless. But Dr. Butler and Rachel were the miracle workers he needed. He's so much happier now which makes the drive from Orangeville well worth it. The other day, someone commented on Cado being "so fluffy"; absolutely the best compliment I will ever hear about him! Thank you GAH!

I had the opportunity to see two different vets with my dogs and they both surprised me by performing the exam on the floor ensuring that my dogs weren't anxious or scared. I have been to many places and the Vet always did the exam on a high table which immediately caused anxiety---KEEP UP the amazing care! You amaze me!

Everyone at Guelph Animal Hospital is just so wonderful and like other reviewers I also really appreciate the little details. Even things like their caller ID system. I was surprised when I made a recent phone call and started off with "I'm calling about my dog, he just.....", and without even having gotten to my name, my dogs' names, phone number or other info they knew immediately who I was and without a second wasted I was asked "okay Kate, how fast can you and Monty get here?". On the drive over it hit me how amazing that was! I have had wonderful experiences with all the vets and must say Dr. Ilana Smolkin has been especially amazing! Her chiropractic treatments have worked wonders for my dog Ruthie and I can tell she loves and cares about her, treating her just like the family member she is. It's been a pleasure getting to know her along the way :) Can't say enough about GAH - I'll always bring my pets here and recommend to anyone else as well. My dogs always seem happy to go too which speaks volumes in my option :) no fear!

I was referred here by an another incompetent vet in Huntsville, Trish Wendell. If they see your checkbook - look out. Make you sign an agreement (with the devil) and the the costs go up and up, They did over $5000 worth of surgery - then told us it was cancer. My beautiful dog was tortured, they put down. It's all about the money. I asked why they didn't test for cancer before they did all this surgery. I was told "Who do you think we are, Princess Margaret Hospital?" Yes, I thought they were the best, that's why I took my dog there!

They’re not the cheapest vet, but they care and give fantastic care and advice! I’ve never met another vet more down to earth (all the vets at this clinic are awesome). I love how they get down on the floor with my dog - I know he would hate being forced to stand on the exam table, but they’ve never even tried to make him do that. I know if makes their job more difficult but I appreciate that my dog drags me into the vets office rather than trying to drag me away!

Expect to pay a minimum of $95 for an annual exam that includes no more than temperature, a quick feel, and a heartbeat listen. Disappointed, and broke!

I have taken my Golden Retrievers to Guelph Animal Hospital since the mid 90s starting with Harley and most recently with Gibson. I have even been travelling from Hamilton to Guelph over the last 10 years in order to ensure that my dogs get the best care possible and that is only available at GAH based on my experience with some vet clinics here in Hamilton. Their compassion for Harley, a cancer survivor who had to have one front leg amputated, and Gibson, a love-sponge who left us way too early, has demonstrated to me the importance of finding a vet who is a leader in their field. Dr. Butler is our favourite but all of the vets are superb because they attend training courses, educational seminars, and product seminars in order to ensure that they can provide exactly the care that you and your pet deserve. I have always chosen traditional veterinary medicine for my dogs but GAH also provides homeopathy, naturopathy, massage, acupuncture and more for those that may be interested. Their clinic offers in-stock specialty foods, supplements, grooming aids, toys, accessories and more at reasonable prices. All of the staff at GAH are friendly and truly love your pets like their own. I couldn't bring myself to write this review sooner because I was so upset to even think about it. I brought my dog here for his annual check up and did the wellness test mistakenly thinking this would let me know if anything was wrong. 2 weeks later he collapses and dies from hemangiosarcoma, an aggressive and deadly cancer that starts in the spleen and then spreads to the heart...by then it's over but he might have had a chance had we caught the tumor in the spleen. Wellness testing would never show any of this and I was told afterwards that the only way to detect tumors would have been xrays but more ideally ultrasound. Given the fact that my dog was 8 years old, a large dog and predominantly white, factors that show a higher risk for that type of cancer, I would have paid for an ultrasound had it been even recommended. Of course dogs get cancer all the time unfortunately but early detection is critical right? I was told by the emergency vet that we could have had his spleen removed and he may have been fine. I'm not saying the Wellness test is a complete waste of time but it is if that's all you are doing. It doesn't give you an overall picture of your dog's health like I was led to believe and like I said I was sent home with a dog Guelph Animal Hospital said was completely healthy and 2 weeks later he died!

The staff at GAH are hands down, the most knowledgeable and friendly veterinarians in town. You feel welcomed the moment you walk into their beautiful practice, with the friendly staff at front. The techs and vet spend time getting to know your pet, and treating them like their own. I transferred to their clinic after our previous vet couldn’t address a reoccurring health issue for our dog, and after one visit at GAH she is back to normal and thriving. They also have some hollistic treatment options, which I appreciate having available to me. If you are looking for a friendly, amazing and knowledgeable place to care for your animals look no further!

They treat your animal as if it is one of there own . charley had problems urinating i had no appointment with them at the time . i rushed him to there hospital in guelph within minutes he was seen and taken care of . found out later he had a blocked urinary tract caused from gall stones . they got the blockage open and relieved the pressure .there is no doubt that they saved his life . they went beyond there duty to save him . he went for surgery next day as you know surgery was not cheap .i was able to work a payment plan with them . thanks to guelph animal charley is still here and healthy as ever .

Usually very good - but it can depend what vet you see. We have 4 pets and bring them in for their annual checkups 2 at a time. It would be nice if they read the comments from the previous visit for all of the pets, instead of just the ones we have with us at the time. It is also quite frustrating that the same cat that was "the perfect weight" on the last visit and has since lost a very slight amount of weight was deemed "above the ideal weight" this visit. If she lost weight how is she now overweight when she was ideal before?? Also received the comment that we should keep an eye on our dog's weight when he is currently the ideal weight, simply because he gained about 4 lbs in the last year - which is normal considering he just came out of being a puppy and only recently would be considered fully grown. Next time we will request our preferred vet - Dr. Ilana Smolkin is great. Having different vets give us different information is very frustrating and just looks bad.

Extremely professional, courteous front desk staff made me feel very welcome as I stepped in with my dog Molly for an Integrative Therapy Consult with Dr. Butler. We had arrived early, and the support staff updated me regularly about when Molly would be seen. Prior to our meeting with Dr. Butler, RVT Rachel greeted us warmly, offered Molly treats after politely asking me if that was all right. Rachel also took a detailed history on Molly. Shortly after, Dr. Butler joined us in the room, again making us feel very welcome by providing Molly with a few more treats, before asking me for further details about Molly's recent history and conducting a physical assessment. After a long conversation, Dr. Butler suggested some herbs shown to benefit animals with similar conditions, and other steps we can take going forward. Outstanding customer service and professionalism. I only wish I'd known about this practice sooner. Also, the gift shop is very cute!

I absolutely love this place. They took such good care of me and my furry companions over the years. My cat Chui was a client of theirs for 11 years. He got all his booster shots as a kitten from them. And when I immigrated to England they made sure he had all the necessary documents and care. And they were there to gently and compassionately guide me through the process of when I had to say goodbye.

I'm so grateful for everyone at the Guelph Animal Hospital. My beautiful German Shepherd had a rough few first years of his life, dealing with a number of skin problems that caused so much discomfort, itchiness and balding. I was at a loss about what to do; we had seen several vets, tried countless medicationsit seemed hopeless. But Dr. Butler and Rachel were the miracle workers he needed. He's so much happier now which makes the drive from Orangeville well worth it. The other day, someone commented on Cado being "so fluffy"; absolutely the best compliment I will ever hear about him! Thank you GAH!

I had the opportunity to see two different vets with my dogs and they both surprised me by performing the exam on the floor ensuring that my dogs weren't anxious or scared. I have been to many places and the Vet always did the exam on a high table which immediately caused anxiety---KEEP UP the amazing care! You amaze me!

Everyone at Guelph Animal Hospital is just so wonderful and like other reviewers I also really appreciate the little details. Even things like their caller ID system. I was surprised when I made a recent phone call and started off with "I'm calling about my dog, he just.....", and without even having gotten to my name, my dogs' names, phone number or other info they knew immediately who I was and without a second wasted I was asked "okay Kate, how fast can you and Monty get here?". On the drive over it hit me how amazing that was! I have had wonderful experiences with all the vets and must say Dr. Ilana Smolkin has been especially amazing! Her chiropractic treatments have worked wonders for my dog Ruthie and I can tell she loves and cares about her, treating her just like the family member she is. It's been a pleasure getting to know her along the way :) Can't say enough about GAH - I'll always bring my pets here and recommend to anyone else as well. My dogs always seem happy to go too which speaks volumes in my option :) no fear!

I was referred here by an another incompetent vet in Huntsville, Trish Wendell. If they see your checkbook - look out. Make you sign an agreement (with the devil) and the the costs go up and up, They did over $5000 worth of surgery - then told us it was cancer. My beautiful dog was tortured, they put down. It's all about the money. I asked why they didn't test for cancer before they did all this surgery. I was told "Who do you think we are, Princess Margaret Hospital?" Yes, I thought they were the best, that's why I took my dog there!
