I can't say enough about Barb and the staff at Southgate Animal Hospital. Service is excellent - the team is always quick to answer the phone and get answers to questions from the veterinarians, and has fit us in last minute several times. Recently everyone went out of their way to accommodate us when our dog cut his leg very badly and the price at the end was much less than we were expecting. Barb did an amazing job stitching up a difficult wound because our dog has wrinkles on his legs, and two weeks later I can't even see the scar. I don't think our dog has noticed that the stitches are there because they do not pull at all. Barb always seems to know a lot about our dog breed, which is not common in Guelph, and has managed to solve several problems that our old vet was unable to fix and suggesting we get $5000 allergy testing for - including recurring ear infections and seasonal hair loss. Barb is also just genuinely good with dogs. At our post stitches checkup, we also had a really great experience with Dr. Shanna, and all of the vet techs and receptionists have been great too.

I want to review Southgate Animal Hospital. I was so impressed at the compassion and dedication the staff, especially Dr. Barb Deter had with my dog. A year and a half ago, a friend recommended them for my sick dog. Barb was just arriving to work and she helped me bring my dog in and accessed her, didn't judge me and took great care of her. Within two weeks, I had my dog back to a normal state. She didn't charge me for services my dog didn't require and didn't doubt my decision to pursue further care.
Unfortunately, recently, I had to put my dog down. Barb was extremely caring and explained everything to us. She came down to us and my dog, she talked to my dog and pet her, and made her as comfortable as she could.
Today I received a sympathy card from Southgate Animal Hospital, with a note and hand signed with all the staff's names. My dog was my baby girl and Barb and her staff, showed the care and concern and compassion, anyone would want when dealing with a family member. I would HIGHLY recommend you leaving your pet in their care. Thank you so much Barb

We purchase our dog food here and find their prices are less than other clinics in the South End of Guelph.

I couldn't be happier with Southgate Animal Hospital. They offer kind and compassionate care with reasonable prices. I never feel pressured to purchase unnecessary services. Both Barb and Shanna are excellent veterinarians and do a great job of explaining the pros and cons of various treatments. I am able to get my pets in for an appointment without delay. They even made a donation to Canada Helps after I had to put my cat down. I would highly recommend Southgate Animal Hospital.

For us it is worth the drive from Waterloo to Guelph, to get the compassion, care and expertise of the two fine veterinarians and their staff at Southgate Animal Hospital. Our two dogs rescued from the Humane Society, show us they trust the care of Dr. Shanna Clinch and Dr. Barb Deter when ever we visit them.
We are so thankful to have found this animal hospital to care for our family pets!

We have had to make some hard decisions in the past years and Barb was always compassionate, gave us her straight opinion and guidance and let us make the decisions. Service is excellent - the team is always quick to answer the phone and get answers to questions from the veterinarians, and has fit us in last minute several times. I couldn't be happier with Southgate Animal Hospital. They offer kind and compassionate care with reasonable prices. I never feel pressured to purchase unnecessary services. For us it is worth the drive from Waterloo to Guelph, to get the compassion, care and expertise of the two fine veterinarians and their staff at Southgate Animal Hospital.
