Took my dog in there one year to get some yearly vaccinations, but was hesitant to get all of them because at the time there was some controversy about certain vaccinations being unnecessary and actually causing cancer.  I wanted to talk to him about the research I had done.  The vet (I think he owns the clinic) walked in, said hello, reached down, and before I even had time to react, he injected my dog with a single dose of all the major vaccinations, some of which I did not want him to have.I just stared at him and told him I didn't give him permission to do that.  He got defensive and said if my dog didn't get vaccinated we wouldn't be welcome back at the clinic. If it happened today, I would have walked out, but I was younger then and more easily intimidated, so I actually PAID for the vaccinations (pretty sure he would have had a fit if I had refused).  I can't blame him for this, but my dog died of cancer at the age of 7.  I'd STAY AWAY from this clinic and the other ones he owns if you love your animals and want someone compassionate who will take the time to listen to your concerns. My Siamese cat was so very ill and had dropped to actually weighing one pound. I was sure he was a goner. It was Dr. Rice whose patience and expertise saved my wee cat. She prescribed meds for a thyroid issue and at first he was so ill I had to force-feed him. But Dr. Rice said it wasn't too late and told me not to give up hope. It was with her care that the cat is now a healthy wee boy. We have to give him meds twice a day and they aren't cheap. But we are thankful to Dr. Rice, and the wonderful Dr. Bourque before her, for such great care of my cat. Read Less

I had to go a series of times over the summer because of my cat injuring herself. The vets completely ignored my suggestions that my cat was stressed and missed a lot of symptoms. Each visit was over $100 and one of the vet techs was made disparaging and judgemental comments about people who may not be able to afford costly visits and products. Despite going to the clinic multiple times for the same issue, the vet kept delaying practical solutions, instead proposing a very lengthy and expensive "trial" to rule out other possibilities which would have just exacerbated my cat's stress to a deleterious degree. I ended up fixing my cat's problems by soliciting advice from more knowledgeable friends and getting vaccines through the SPCA for a fraction of the costs charged at West Park. I wasted over $400 over 3 visits with no actual help and feeling dismissed by the vets at West Park. This was my only option as I don't have a car, but now I'd rather take my chances and take a taxi to a better vet clinic elsewhere. Read Less
