Bracebridge Animal Hospital is an excellent hospital with a wonderful and caring team. We have been in Muskoka for many years and have been a client there after being clients at Centennial for a few years before that. We have received nothing but outstanding service every time we go through their doors, contrary to what we received at centennial where they do not even remember you or your pet after going many, many times.Contrary to the other posting here, we found when our one dog had cancer, the staff and doctors we extremely compassionate and guided us well, without a focus on money at all. I would suggest the other people that said otherwise are not even recognizing that it is completely reasonable, and in fact should be expected, that when they have never been to a vet hospital before that an examination and discussion with the doctor would occur. You cannot expect to just walk in and run tests at a hospital just because you said you other clinic wants it. That would be like walking into a dental office and saying clean my teeth because my dentist in my home town said I should have it done but I am not paying for your expertise or actual use of your hospital.Go in for yourself and see. When we first tried Bracebridge Animal Hospital we were treated as if we had already been clients for years. They gave us a tour of the entire hospital without any hesitation and introduced us to staff and doctors even though they were obviously busy  seeing other pets. And they were ALL wonderful! Now that we have been there for years, we often watch as they interact with other clients and pets coming in. They genuinely care more than any vet hospital we have ever been to. Read Less

Brought my dog in with changing, serious symptoms, and terrified I would lose him. Not only did everyone do everything in their power to make him better, they contacted specialists, did research all weekend on their own time and called me to check on him during their time off. They also comforted us and didn't make us feel any obligation to spend more money. In fact they made it ok if we couldn't with their understanding. I firmly believe without their hard work, researching and collaborating with specialists we would have lost him. Thank you for saving our loyal and best friend :-) Read Less

We have an 11 year old golden retriever currently undergoing chemo at Guelph - The Ontario Veterinary College.  For the summer, we are largely up in Muskoka.  As part of her treatment, our dog requires regular CBC blood test - which is a simple test that determines her platelet count.  In Guelph, the test is $39.  We called Bracebridge Animal Hospital and asked to bring Stoli in for her test - along with a letter from Guelph stating that this was all that she needed (and noting she had a full check up at Guelph OVC on July 27, 2012).  First the test was $179 - and they would not do the test unless we also agreed to pay for a full physical examination - putting this test in the hundreds of dollars.  A pure cash grab for something so simple and so unnecessary.  I have heard similar comments from other clients of Bracebridge and Parry Sound Animal Hospital (same owners). Our answer, go to the veterinary hospital right down the street - the very wonderful Centennial Animal Hospital in Bracebridge where we walked in, had the tests and a quick check - and the results just two hours later for a grand total of $80 plus tax.  The math is simple.  But even more telling is that Bracebridge Animal Hospital was insisting on services that were not required, specifically asked to be omitted and were highly overpriced.  Centennial did exactly what the doctors at Guelph requested and as requested. My recommendation to anybody who asks or will hear - there are many fine veterinarians - but some are equally skilled at removing money from your wallet rather than the care of the animal first.  Bracebridge knew this was necessary for her chemo treatment and just, in my humble opinion, tried to extract money from us because of the circumstances.  Perhaps not - but, well, I have already outlined the math.
