Alcona Animal Hospital covers all things a clinic should be. The staff is friendly and helpful, the Techs and Doctors are professional and caring. I have 3 cats and a new puppy and Dr. Paquette has cared for each of them, my oldest cat living til 21 years old! Dr. Paquette was always willing to go "above and beyond" in her care for all my pets. You can tell as soon as you enter that they are there because they care. My dog really liked the staff and they were able to treat him without breaking my bank account. They even called to see how he was doing and I was able to speak directly with the vet. Highly recommended! Read Less

Very disappointed in our last encounter. Always had a good experience before. It was Friday night around 4:45pm (they close at 7pm) when my dog cut her arm open on a walk and had a 5cm gash on her arm that was bleeding. When I called to tell them that I was on the way over the girl put me on hold and told me that they couldn't see me tonight! I couldn't believe that they couldn't squeeze her in to look at her. We are a regular customer with two dogs and I was so upset. The other vet in town Innisfil Veterinary hospital who ALSO closes at 7pm and is NOT my regular vet took us in! It took 10 minutes to fix her back up and we were on our way! SHAME ON YOU GUYS!!!! Read Less

We took our dog in thinking we would have to put him down. The waiting room was nice and clean, plenty of room. We were then brought into another room while awaiting the doctor. If I recall she was an intern or newly graduated perhaps? She wasn't either of the doctors I expected to see. This room is a quite small; not much room for three people and a dog. She took our dog to the back- I didn't like this as I'm the type of person that I like to stay near my pet especially in uncomfortable situations. While our dog was in the back for tests, we discussed euthanization and enquired about pet cemeteries. I was quite surprised they didn't have information on whether there are any in the area. The test results all came back as good. We left the animal hospital with our dog as we had hope we'd have him for a long time to come. Sadly we lost our dog 9 days later; obviously there was something serious going on. Of course there is no such thing as perfection however I didn't feel comfortable/confident in the overall service we received and it saddens me even more that my dog suffered as a result of a misdiagnosis. As a comment unrelated to this situation, what I really dislike about vets is that they play on people''s attachment to their pet and charge enormous fees for tests, this location being no different. when they don't need to send them away - they get the results immediately. I just want to say that the staff here are amazing. We recently had to put our beloved dog angel to sleep. It was the most peaceful transition possible. He was loved and surrounded by family. We have been taking our dog and cat to Alcona Animal Hospital for quite some time. I have nothing but the best to say. The Vets and the staff are the most caring and compassionate people. Dr. Neilan is the vet we have taken our pets to consistently for the last few years. Our dog was aging and dealing with many health issues. Dr. Neilan cared for our doggie right up to the end of her life. We moved to Wasaga Beach a couple years ago and still would not change vets because we have the best, why go somewhere else. We still take our cat to him too and don't plan to change. We would and have and continue to recommend this animal hospital to our friends and family.
