Beware all of Northern Ontario!
Do not take your pets to Athavan Thangarajah
We took our precious miniature dachshund, Frankie there on August 12th, 2019 because he had laboured breathing. My husband and I were on holidays and this place happened to be the nearest.
First of all, he didnβt even introduce himself, I found that to be unprofessional, he checked his heartbeat, temperature, and said he sounded fine, he did an X-ray and said he was concerned about a blockage in his abdomen, he never did blood work, or check his nose, ears, eyes or feel his body for pain areas, he thought if thereβs been blockage in his abdomen, this could be causing his pain and laboured breathing and would give him IV with pain medication. He said βdonβt worryβ
We put our trust in him ( big mistake). We left then we called about an hour and a half later and I asked receptionist how our boy was doing and how his breathing was, she responded β heβs the sameβ, so we rushed back frantically to see him and it was not a pretty sight to see our dog gasping for air!
At this point, he does a barium X-ray and suggested he do exploratory surgery to see for blockage in his abdomen. Again we agree, ( another big mistake). We left and went for coffee and worried sick and praying thatβs our boy would pull through. We get a call from receptionist about 20 minutes later to come back, we walk in and see that he had been put under and incubated, thereβs was pink fluid on the floor and everywhere, he said it didnβt look good for our boy.
What kind of vet intubates a dog with fluid in the lungs? Did he not see this in one of the X-rays?
I also want to mention he was doing this procedure on a counter in the back room( not a sterile operating room). Our dog was laying on a dirty towel, his head on a metal counter, beside was a sink full of dirty tools and blood soaked gauze and a tube down our boys throat and he was ice cold to the touch, and also a cat in a cage 2 feet from him. I know this a long review but I need to make people in northern Ontario aware so you donβt go through this terrible nightmare.
Because of this uneducated, inhuman vet , we had to make the terrible decision to have our boy put downπ’π’π’π’ Read Less
