This afternoon my daughter's cat (Tubsys) was in distress she called our regular Vet at Bridlewood Animal Hospital and they told her that they were too busy and they did not have any appt available to see her cat. They gave us Kanata Animal Hospital contact phone number. She called them and they found her a spot without hesitation. The care and the service we received from Dr Wright was top notch and prices were very reasonable for the emergency care received. Last year almost the same thing happened we our dog and they told us that they were closing within 10 min and told us to call another clinic. We decided that VCA Kanata Animal Hospital will be our new vet for both our pets. If you are looking for a great clinic please do not hesitate to call them. Read Less

Dr Smordin is a wonderful compassionate Vet who doesn't push extra (costly) test or treatments. She will do what is necessary to find out what the problem is but is very understanding when it gets to the point of "the dogs quality of life". I would recommend this Animal Hospital. Read Less

My parents cat, their 2 cats before them (deceased, both euthanized at this clinic), and my 2 cats see Dr. Smordin at this clinic. While in university I worked at an animal hospital for 4 years and I can say with a good level of knowledge and experience that the standard of care here is exceptional. I love the staff, and I love our vet. I have also seen another vet there on emergency when my cat slammed his head in a drawer (can't remember her name) who was great. My parents will tell you the same. I would encourage people to ignore negative reviews solely based on price complaints. Owning a pet is expensive as is their health care, but if you remain informed, educated, and ask a lot of questions, there should be no surprises. Keep up the good work :) Read Less

i've been here for three years, peanut my dog has had various visits because of his skin condition and we also purchase his food that the vet recommended. At first it was pretty good but we realized nothing was working they would just tell us their not sure and give us the same antibiotics that helped but it just came back. We've spent quite a lot of money here and the bad experience was when my mom went to the vet asking if they had cones since she picked up dog food too, they said they have them but it's 25$ my mom bought it and came home but she realized it was quite pricey and drove right back about 10min when she purschased it and the woman said how they can't refund and then how they didn't have money to return for it? and they were very rude and the fact we've spent so much money for them and then another time was when i asked if she could demonstrate how to cut my dogs nails and they cut the first one then the second one and my dog screamed and then they just kept going and cut another one too short, didn't say sorry or stop and when we walked to the car my dog was dripping with blood and we came back in and they took him inside and just washed it off and didn't appologize. I find it's quite pricey their too and not very clean. Read Less

The service and care that animals receive here is good. I have always been happy with the care and take no issue with that. The fees, however; are unjustifibly high. I needed three types of medication for my dog and was charged a $21 dispensing fee for each type simply for printing off a label and sticking it onto the medication box. During the consultation, the vet proceeded with tests without informing me of the costs resulting in a bill substantially larger than I anticipated. I expected to pay $200-250 but ended up paying $450. This is enough to make me not return to this clinic. I will certainly be doing research on other vets pricing particularly with respect to dispensing fees before seeking future treatment. $21 per prescription is ludicrous. Read Less

My husband and I have been going to the Bridlewood Animal Hospital since they opened (20 years ago maybe?). In those days we lived in the neighbourhood and now, even though we live much, much further away they are still our main veterinarian. Dr. Utting is our primary care giver and I appreciate that she listens and takes into consideration my observations and concerns about my cats. I have had experience with clinics where the pet owner's opinions were dismissed (places that would soon see my back) and have an intense dislike for such an approach. I have been a client at Bridlewood Animal Hospital for almost 15 years. In that time, I have had 3 cats and a dog, all who have received exceptional care and service. The front desk staff are very courteous, helpful and dedicated. The vets are knowledgeable, approachable, kind and I have never felt that they have tried to over-charge me or push me to buy anything or do anything that was not really needed or that I was not comfortable with.
