I would like to express my deep appreciation to the Kanata Animal Hospital team for taking care our favorite cat Kuzja who lived long (17 years) life. This is the only clinic we were visiting during all this time and always were getting high quality and professional help. When our cat was 7 years old, he got severe problem with his kidneys and was rescued here, staying over nights and getting great treatment.Any time when we were visiting Kanata Animal Hospital we were getting great support and kind care.Two weeks ago with a great sadness we had to say good bye to our cat, Kuzja , who became a real part of our family - grew up with kids, shared all our events and saved our home from the fire calling us to the kitchen where the fire started. Unfortunately, he got bad tumor, which was not treatable at his age.And again, as usually we got kind support and all possible help to our broken hearts while staying last minutes with our favorite guy. Kuzja was treated with a great kindness and respect.Thank you great people!

I brought my seizing 3 year old cat here as an emergency since they are close to our home on Thursday morning when they first open. I was greeted by a robot that was more interested in the days scheduled appointments than my pleas that if we go further in traffic to the Ottawa Animal Hospital as she suggested in early morning traffic my cat might die if he has more seizures than the 3 he already had. I was told they have no doctor on duty and when they tried to contact 2 doctors they were not answering their phone. So off we go as she told us to the Ottawa Animal hospital on Boyd Avenue near Carling avenue. We were stuck in early morning traffic where my cat, which I was holding in the back seat while my husband was driving, had 4 more seizures on our way. When we arrived at the OAH, they gave us the grim news our little guy might not make it. He stayed overnight and died 24 hours after being admitted. If the Kanata Animal Hospital had acted quickly to admit him and give him the care he needed our beautiful little boy would still be here with us. RIP little soul, your mommy and daddy did their best to try and save you. We love you always and will miss you every day of our lives.

Hospital. I don't think I can trust a vet who deflect my question about generic med option and refuse to write any prescription (generic or not), unless I fill it in at the clinic. Needless to say the generic form (tested and approved for use in dogs) is hundreds (!) times less expensive. Shame on you #VCACanadaKanataAnimalHospital for choosing profit over k9 patients well being.

I don't think I can trust a vet who deflect my question about generic med option and refuse to write any prescription (generic or not), unless I fill it in at the clinic. Over the past 25 years or so, my pets have been patients of this hospital. I have literally spent thousands of dollars for pet care with them. I am now a pensioner with a small fixed income and it is very difficult to manage now, especially with a sick pup. My little one started with an eye infection over the weekend and it is worsening. I called the hospital and begged if they could see him now and I will clear the bill next week when my pension comes in. They flatly refused. I would have to pay for the vsit, a whopping $96 and maybe be able to pay for meds at the end of the month. Where is the compassion? Is money more important to them than the well being of their patients?? They don't care. It's all about the bottom line obviously. I may now have to put my baby down because I can't afford to keep him anymore. Like Big Pharma, the Vet business is a psychopathic rip off. I am so disappointed. Silly me, I thought they actually cared about the animals.

The staff at the Kanata Animal Hospital are truly wonderful. Last night I had to do one of the hardest things any pet parent has to do and put my dog to sleep. The vet I saw, Dr.Ashdown, was amazing. She didn't force me into doing anything I didn't want to do. The receptionist and the two vet tech ladies were all very compassionate towards myself and my dog and you could truly tell they cared. Thank you all very much!

They helped me save my cat Boo.
They advised euthanasia since the chances were doubtful and they were honest about costs and chances of recovery.
I chose to try my own plan in consultation with the vet and my cat did survive... but I really appreciate that they did not take advantage of the situation and try to be pushy about the sales of expensive treatments that had little likelihood of success.
They were honest and compassionate. In my case I took a gamble on my cat who was already close to death and they helped me develop a very affordable treatment plan as a last ditch effort to save her. It worked for me, but it won't work for everyone.
I'd recommend this place for anyone with a sick animal they care about.

This afternoon my daughter's cat (Tubsys) was in distress she called our regular Vet and they told her that they were too busy and they did not have any appt available to see her cat. They gave us Kanata Animal Hospital contact phone number. She called them and they found her a spot without hesitation. The care and the service we received from Dr Wright was top notch and prices were very reasonable for the emergency care received. We decided that VCA Kanata Animal Hospital will be our new vet for both our pets. If you are looking for a great clinic please do not hesitate to call them.

Amazing staff and clinic! I would rather go to a clinic/hospital that is a little more expensive but provides exceptional and quality care... instead of a cheap clinic/hospital that doesn't offer a good service.
We recently had to euthanize our beloved cat of 14 years, and the Kanata Animal Hospital was beyond understanding and sympathetic. Yes, it costed a lot of money to run tests and try to save our cat, but that is part of owning a pet! I would never go to another clinic, Kanata Animal Hospital is by far the best!

Our experience has been exceptional on every level. The care is evident from the minute you open the door, meet the Vet on duty and techs and reception staff. I receive follow up calls by Vets or techs ALWAYS. l highly recommend Kanata Animal Hospital. I also recommend pet owners buy pet insurance. Do your homework and buy it when your pet is young.

It is what it is. You need reliable healthcare for your pet - there will always be the risk of vets being gold diggers. I spent thousands on unnecessary testing and procedures for my cat here. The simplest solution fixed him and he's alive so I'm still grateful. About to bring in my other cat in, and we'll see how it goes - but if you love your pets, you can't blame any vet, regardless of the price for doing their job. It's Kanata SUBURBIA - these people can afford pet health care. Of course they will profit as much possible.

Dr Adams was both kind and professional during a difficult situation...Thanks to both of you. We are now bringing our newest family member in for his care. I think he feels like a movie star when he goes there...lol. Fair rating, based on my recent exp with this Vet. The desk staff are friendly and it's overall a nice layout. However, I've learned the fancier the Vet, the more expensive they are. True to word with these guys. To get an X-ray done here is a big mistake. They charge you to simply turn on the machine and "interpret" plus the standard fee's. The vet I dealt with, kept calling my cat "puss" "puss" which was rather annoying. I'm not saying they are bad, but you are trying to save on cost, without sacrificing treatment for your pet, this isn't the place to go. You are better off going to a smaller mom and pop vet, that isn't very fancy, but know what they are doing at the same time. The vet also wanted to run a battery of test on my cat, and leave her for a few hours and then transfer her to another Vet overnight. I didn't think this was needed, and opted out, to go my own Vet first thing in the morning. This would of stressed out my cat even more and myself on top of this. **See Comments for Follow up**

I took my 11 year old cat Rainbow in last night and between her and my kitten I have been to a handful of difference places this year. Rainbow usually needs to be sedated to get an exam. But the people that looked at Rainbow were the only ones ever who knew how to keep her calm. I've had people up on chairs, people using magazines to try and nudge Rainbow back in her kennel, I've seen the big thick gloves come out many times. They made this is best experience I've ever had with Rainbow. And the best prices. I was so close to getting a house call vet to try and make things less stressful. I'm so glad I finally have a place I can take her. Thank you

I want to thank the staff at the Kanata Animal Hospital for the prompt and excellent care of my 10.5 month old great dane today. I had let him outside to go to the bathroom today in our backyard and he managed to cut his leg pretty good on something in the yard. I'm a paramedic and knew that he needed stitches. I immediately called our vet and to my dismay they could not (would not?) fit him in. I called the Kanata Animal Hospital in a bit of a panic and they had me bring him in right away within 15mins of me calling. My guy is a very nervous dog and this has scared the staff at the vet before. Dr. Neilsen and staff handled him better than I have ever seen and were able to stitch him back up very nicely! I cannot thank you enough!

Kanata Animal Hospital has provided me and my dog, hands down, the best care to date. I have been to many of the clinics in the area but none have offered as much help, guidance, and compassion as the staff of Kanata. Having a dog who suffers from a chronic condition, the staff of KAH frequently go above and beyond to ensure her needs are met and have been proactive in ensuring she stays healthy and happy. I initially visited as an emergency case, but the care and determination Dr. Wright offered in solving and treating my dogs issues were beyond any other veterinarians I had visited, including her regular vet, so I made the switch to their practice without hesitation. Every visit I am astounded at how much care and thought has gone into her treatment, and its really nice to know that she has staff rooting for her!

I went to this particular veterinary hospital when I first got my 2 male Bengals around 3 years ago. The vet knew absolutely nothing about Bengals and suggested that I should get pet insurance because 'Bengals tend to eat styrofoam and chew wires' (What the...?!?!?). When I later accompanied my sister with her own domestic cat, one of the women at the front desk was extremely rude to her. My sister's cat was prescribed a medication for an eye infection that she had been given in the past to treat cat herpes. Not exactly a pharmacological expert, my sister wanted to make sure it was the right medication and approached the desk to ask simply for more information and clarification: the woman got defensive and accused her of not wanting to buy the medication for her cat. I watched the interaction in shock. No one in my family ever went back after that.If you are looking for a vet, go elsewhere.

Amazing staff and clinic! I would rather go to a clinic/hospital that is a little more expensive but provides exceptional and quality care... instead of a cheap clinic/hospital that doesn't offer a good service.
We recently had to euthanize our beloved cat of 14 years, and the Kanata Animal Hospital was beyond understanding and sympathetic. Yes, it costed a lot of money to run tests and try to save our cat, but that is part of owning a pet! I would never go to another clinic, Kanata Animal Hospital is by far the best!

Our experience has been exceptional on every level. The care is evident from the minute you open the door, meet the Vet on duty and techs and reception staff. I receive follow up calls by Vets or techs ALWAYS. l highly recommend Kanata Animal Hospital. I also recommend pet owners buy pet insurance. Do your homework and buy it when your pet is young.

Excellent staff. Very caring and helpful. They listen to your needs and are extremely good with my pets. I travel more than an hour to go to this clinic because I refuse to change to a new vet clinic. Awesome people! The best vets in town, regardless of who you see at the practice.

It is what it is. You need reliable healthcare for your pet - there will always be the risk of vets being gold diggers. I spent thousands on unnecessary testing and procedures for my cat here. The simplest solution fixed him and he's alive so I'm still grateful. About to bring in my other cat in, and we'll see how it goes - but if you love your pets, you can't blame any vet, regardless of the price for doing their job. It's Kanata SUBURBIA - these people can afford pet health care. Of course they will profit as much possible.

The support and care that this clinic offers is beyond exceptional. My first appointment with them was a sad one and the receptionist actually hugged me. Dr Adams was both kind and professional during a difficult situation...Thanks to both of you. We are now bringing our newest family member in for his care. I think he feels like a movie star when he goes there...lol. This is a great clinic !The staff truly love and care for the well being of all their patients and it shows in the service and care they give. I simply can't thank them enough :)

Fair rating, based on my recent exp with this Vet. The desk staff are friendly and it's overall a nice layout. However, I've learned the fancier the Vet, the more expensive they are. True to word with these guys. To get an X-ray done here is a big mistake. They charge you to simply turn on the machine and "interpret" plus the standard fee's. The vet I dealt with, kept calling my cat "puss" "puss" which was rather annoying. I'm not saying they are bad, but you are trying to save on cost, without sacrificing treatment for your pet, this isn't the place to go. You are better off going to a smaller mom and pop vet, that isn't very fancy, but know what they are doing at the same time. The vet also wanted to run a battery of test on my cat, and leave her for a few hours and then transfer her to another Vet overnight. I didn't think this was needed, and opted out, to go my own Vet first thing in the morning. This would of stressed out my cat even more and myself on top of this. **See Comments for Follow up**

I took my 11 year old cat Rainbow in last night and between her and my kitten I have been to a handful of difference places this year. Rainbow usually needs to be sedated to get an exam. But the people that looked at Rainbow were the only ones ever who knew how to keep her calm. I've had people up on chairs, people using magazines to try and nudge Rainbow back in her kennel, I've seen the big thick gloves come out many times. They made this is best experience I've ever had with Rainbow. And the best prices. I was so close to getting a house call vet to try and make things less stressful. I'm so glad I finally have a place I can take her. Thank you

I want to thank the staff at the Kanata Animal Hospital for the prompt and excellent care of my 10.5 month old great dane today. I had let him outside to go to the bathroom today in our backyard and he managed to cut his leg pretty good on something in the yard. I'm a paramedic and knew that he needed stitches. I immediately called our vet and to my dismay they could not (would not?) fit him in. I called the Kanata Animal Hospital in a bit of a panic and they had me bring him in right away within 15mins of me calling. My guy is a very nervous dog and this has scared the staff at the vet before. Dr. Neilsen and staff handled him better than I have ever seen and were able to stitch him back up very nicely! I cannot thank you enough!

Kanata Animal Hospital has provided me and my dog, hands down, the best care to date. I have been to many of the clinics in the area but none have offered as much help, guidance, and compassion as the staff of Kanata. Having a dog who suffers from a chronic condition, the staff of KAH frequently go above and beyond to ensure her needs are met and have been proactive in ensuring she stays healthy and happy. I initially visited as an emergency case, but the care and determination Dr. Wright offered in solving and treating my dogs issues were beyond any other veterinarians I had visited, including her regular vet, so I made the switch to their practice without hesitation. Every visit I am astounded at how much care and thought has gone into her treatment, and its really nice to know that she has staff rooting for her!

I went to this particular veterinary hospital when I first got my 2 male Bengals around 3 years ago. The vet knew absolutely nothing about Bengals and suggested that I should get pet insurance because 'Bengals tend to eat styrofoam and chew wires' (What the...?!?!?). When I later accompanied my sister with her own domestic cat, one of the women at the front desk was extremely rude to her. My sister's cat was prescribed a medication for an eye infection that she had been given in the past to treat cat herpes. Not exactly a pharmacological expert, my sister wanted to make sure it was the right medication and approached the desk to ask simply for more information and clarification: the woman got defensive and accused her of not wanting to buy the medication for her cat. I watched the interaction in shock. No one in my family ever went back after that.If you are looking for a vet, go elsewhere.
