The staff and vets are all very friendly. I was treated well and they loved my pup. However, I was very surprised that both vets I met (two visits) made comments pertaining to my dog’s breed being “mean” and being surprised that she was so sweet and loving (she’s a very sweet Rottweiler). This surprised me because we all (I hope) know by now that dogs are a product of their owners. So I feel bad that their Rottweiler owners turned out poor animals which tainted the experience of these doctors. During my second visit, I was pushed pet insurance (not interested- I’ll pay out of pocket when the time comes), questioned me for not wanting to give my low risk dog the Lyme disease vaccine (which is unnecessary anyway), and my dog was given handfuls of treats (good quality treats) after I indicated that she gets carsick and he needs to stop feeding her. They don’t seem to know much about raw food diets, which I was warned about and they tried to encourage me to feed nibble instead (pass). I did consult with a dog nutritionist and did a lot of research (also, how do they think coyote and wolf puppies survive in the wild?) They meant well overall, but I find it disgusting that a vet is judging domestic animal behaviour based on breed, so they are not the right fit. I’ve had Rottweilers and pitbulls with zero lasting issues after corrective and behavioural training (they were also rescues with troubled histories). It’s not the breed. Regardless, we were treated well enough, prices were very reasonable, but this isn’t the place for us. Read Less

Detailed explanation in google review but I’m concerned this clinic does not make an effort to explore non invasive and low cost alternatives ahead of recommending the works. My mother’s dog was diagnosed based on the mispronunciation of the word licking into leaking. Dog was prescribed hormones, after all tests were normal and even though the vet admitted the misunderstanding, the focus was defending the approach and not clarifying whether the prescription was still required. I think you can get better pet care and customer service elsewhere. Read Less

I have ordered food for my dog from this store for MANY years as it was close to my work. I am not a customer when it comes to seeing a vet. I am now retired and wanted to order food from my vet which is in South Kanata. It accidentally went back to March Road Vet. When I phoned to find out where my food was, I was told it would come to March Road. I was quickly running out of food over Christmas and my vet didn't have any in stock. So asked if I could buy a can or two to tie my dog over which I was quickly said "No" to as I wasn't a customer there. Really? I was able to get a case from Eagleson Vet (which I am not a customer there). I will never be a customer of March Road Vet in the future. Read Less

All I have to say is all vets are pricey, and this place is no accecption. Guess if your going to have a pet, be sure you have pet coverage or your well off. Cause at $400. visits add up.

My whole family brings our animals here. The doctors and staff are always very genuine and never pushy with their recommendations. They were extremely supportive when I found out my kitten had a complicated heart condition and were able to bring in a cardiologist to do tests for her. Bonus points for the adorable homemade catnip pillows they sell at the front desk and for being open late during the week! Read Less

We have been taking our husky mix here for many years. The staff are always patient and helpful. The doctors are patient and gentle, and in all our visits, they would only suggest absolutely required medications or tests. We have had some poor experiences at other vet clinics, but have always been happy with the service and care at March road. As our husky has gotten older, he has lost some control over his bladder, and the staff were always there to help and clean up, even when I offered to clean up. Overall, very happy with the staff, facility and hours. The evening hours until 8 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, are greatly appreciated. Very happy with our service. Cheers, Jay Read Less

Decent service at reasonable price We've been a customer at the March Rd. Veterinary Hospital for many years, and had witnessed their office and staff expansion. This hospital offers a variety of services, including routine checkup and vaccination, extended testing via partner labs in Toronto, and some more advanced procedures like ACL repair and dental cleanup. Dr. Olender (owner) and the late Dr. Dalton (who passed away from breast cancer earlier this year) were our vets. Both were very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. Neither were forcible to sell any products or procedures. One year my dog had a reaction to a relatively new medication to prevent ticks, the office was able to take it back and refunded the cost. Please note that this is NOT a 24x7 animal hospital. They do partner up with the Ottawa Veterinary Hospital for after-hour care. Also they do not offer advanced surgeries or specialized medical care. However they offer basic vet services at reasonable price, and they open for extended hours, weekends too. Read Less

We got cat from shelter and got it to this animal hospital to check if it had any diseases we should be aware about. Honestly - the doctor (I don't recall his name) was great. He checked our cat quickly (5 min) and said cat was fine. He said since he didn't do anything, this is going to be free of charge! He said we should come in one month to do second rabies vaccination. However personnel working there at the front desk screwed everything up :) Lady at the front desk argued with the doctor about "free of charge" and insisted we had to pay ~110$ for a visit. They had small argument with the doctor and he gave up. Somehow because of that argument that front lady had an attitude towards us even though we were totally silent and didn't say a word. We had no problem paying 110$, however after that incident, we have decided to forget about this place. Later, in about one month they gave us a call about rabies vaccination. They tried to be super friendly trying to make us come. My wife just hang up on them. P.S.: When that lady with attitude filled out a form for us, I gave her my driver's license to write down name and address. She made bunch of mistakes when she wrote my address and name (You had one job!!!) Haha. Read Less
