Took my dog to the vet here with the following symptoms:
Itchiness, pustule, crusted skin, small raised lesions, loss of hair, and dried discharge in affected area. The told us it must be a food allergy and there's nothing they could do about it. Turns out, through taking him elsewhere, that a very simple cell sample ($40) was able to tell us that he, in fact, has a fungal infection on his skin (pyroderma). They charged us $90 for the visit and told us, basically, to deal with it.
Took the same dog back to this clinic with a small mass on his leg. Our options, we were told, were to:
- Test the mass to see if it was a tumor for $400 (F.N.A. TEST ACTUAL COST: $40)
- Biopsy the mass for over - $2000
- Biopsy plus tumor removal - $3000
- Remove the leg because the mass would be too difficult to remove.
We ended up going to another clinic that was able to remove the mass for $400 and sent the mass for testing for only $200.
Can't rate 0/5.. but I wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone. Sure, they're kind and they're clean and welcoming... But they'll ram you with their pricing because they know that most people aren't comfortable with price comparisons when it comes to their animals.
What's really messed up is that, not only was their pricing on the procedures marked up 200% from other places, but the pricing also included unnecessary testing such as urine tests and several types of blood testing which they, during the meeting, told us wouldn't be necessary and would not provide us any additional results above those that would be found by testing the biopsied or removed mass.
