Just like our fur babies found a forever home with us, we've found a 'forever vet' with Dr. Chin and the lovely team at Highbury North. We rescued a partial-feral manx from the Humane Society, whom we've named Falco. He spent the first 4.5 years of his life in that small room at the Humane Society, avoiding people. When we told the staff we wanted to adopt him, they laughed at us and said good luck trying to catch him and put him into the cat carrier. We did, eventually, and he spent his first 48 hours with us hiding behind the fridge. The next few years have been difficult and slow, but Falco became a beautiful and playful member of our family. While he still dislikes being held, little by little (with the help of treats) we eventually discovered he loves belly rubs and neck scratches! With our new found closeness, we were able to see that Falco had horrible teeth. Casually related to his dental issues, he was a picky light eater, drooled often, had very stinky breath, and was constantly burdened by 'eye goopies'. Shortly thereafter, we noticed a wiggly loose tooth (a canine), which Falco promptly pawed out of his mouth (with howling and blood) and knew we had to take a trip to the vet that day. We did our research - a lot of research - and gave Dr. Chin a visit. Without surprise, Falco was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease involving neck lesions, which meant his body was reabsorbing his teeth and their roots. Like it sounds, this is PAINFUL, and was triggering Falco's eating limitations, slightly underweight frame, and, as it turns out, his grumpy attitude. Dr. Chin worked with us through scheduling and financial issues, and we were able to get Falco the dental surgery he desperately needed. Long story short, Falco is eating better than ever before (even with no teeth!), doesn't have bad breath, not a single 'eye goopie' since the surgery, and is simply just a happier cuddlier cat! He has since even begun to (cautiously) sit on my lap! We couldn't be happier with the results and the care Falco has received at Highbury North Pet Hospital. The entire office is filled with smiles, information, samples, and all the questions answered that you can ask! I have left veterinarians in the past because I've felt like a burden on them for asking (excessive) questions, seeking information about alternative treatments, etc. Dr. Chin made us feel like human beings, not customers. Now if I could only find a human doctor this good...!Read Less
