Each vet or tech I interact with is very nice. They offer options and talk them through so it's understoos what each thing is for. They are great with reminder calls and follow up calls after each vaccine. They know my dog by name. Only thing that could be better is a little lower fees. 100% best clinic I’ve been to in 6 years. Extremely knowledgeable staff. Amazing pricing. Best in town I did my research. Comparable to board certified treatment. Don’t recommend what you don’t need. The care both physically and emotionally to the animals and owners is outstanding. My sister and I both go here for feline and dog. Recommended to all my friends and family. Con artists extraordinaire! I called yesterday to get flea medication for my dogs because I was suspicious they had fleas. The receptionist insists I bring my dog in for a check up and like an idiot I agree to. The examination consisted of the vet patting my dog for about 20 minutes and rubbing a swab on her leg. The outcome? The vet isn't sure but the dogs probably have fleas! Exactly what I had said in the first place! Instead of paying $110 for flea medication I get a bill for $255 for a 20 minute examination and a swab to be rubbed on my dogs leg, to tell me what I already knew. When you're making $75 every 20 minutes like the vets do I am sure money is no object but not all of us have the character needed to exploit people this way, it takes a special breed of crook. These people are criminals of the lowest order, they use our love for our pets to manipulate money out of us. Also the waiting room was filthy! Read Less

Our vet retired so I was looking for a good vet that cares about animals and this for sure is the place. They take the time to get to know you dog, explain things very well and all of the staff are very friendly and kind. There prices are better than other places I have been as well. Read Less

Last week we had to put our dog down. Although it was a difficult experience (my first dog) the staff at Southside were very respectful and patient with both my wife and I. Dr. Huerter really took the time to explain what was wrong and what our options were. They even stayed open after hours to give us enough time to say goodbye to our little buddy. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Stewart and everyone at the clinic. He has been my vet since 1991 when he owned the animal clinic in Strathoy. I took my newly adopted dog here based on recommendations from a local dog group on Facebook. The clinic is clean and well-maintained, with a nice waiting area split on either side of the reception desk, which allows you to sit away from other patients if you have a nervous or excited animal. There's a soothing fish tank to watch and a selection of pet foods and care products for purchase. The receptionists were nice and helpful when I arrived and I didn't have a long wait before we were ushered into an exam room. The exam room was really nice, clean, and inviting. My dog didn't seem too phased by it and seemed comfortable on the exam table, which has a nice bath mat on it to prevent his paws from slipping. They even had a jar of treats which turned out to be his favourite dried liver!The vet that examined him, Dr. Hueter, was very kind and patient and answered all my questions about the needs for my new pup, including addressing my concerns about flea and tick prevention. She gave us a quote for a dental cleaning if I choose to have my dog's teeth done, as well as clear explanation of how the procedure would work. She was upfront with the cost of extra bloodwork and vaccines that I could have done that day.While a visit to the vet is never cheap, my pup and I had a good experience here and I felt like I could trust the team at Southside.
