I do not recommend this vet. They overcharge for everything. I chose to opt out of some vaccines, as not all are required on a yearly basis, but they charge one price for all 4 vaccines even if you opt-out. One time I dropped my dog off for a test that she needed to be fasted for, and I had forgotten. They called to confirm she was fasted, and when I said she wasn't, they offered to keep her for a few hours with no mention that they would charge for boarding - but then charged for boarding. Dr Cliff has recently been advertising his wife's new exercise business to his clients, which is a totally unacceptable use of his client list. There are much better vets in the area. Read Less

I have unfortunately been a client at Wellington for 5 years. My experiences there with my cat have been horrible and I wanted to write this review to deter others from choosing this veterinary clinic. Wellington continually overcharges for things like consultations, but they also up costs by any means whatsoever. Within a couple of months of being a patient at Wellington they deemed my cat to be "fractious" meaning that they refused to handle my cat unless he was sedated (which cost hundreds of dollars each time). This meant that not only was my cat extremely traumatized every time he went to the vet, but they charged for an unnecessary procedure that they assured us was necessary. As a worried cat parent I did not think twice about these options, because I trusted the vet, Cliff Redford, was knowledgeable and caring. However, after seeing how distressed my cat would get during and after vet visits, I began to look at alternatives. Other vets were more understanding of our cat's nervousness and stated sedation would be a last measure, but that it did not seem that our cat was aggressive enough to require sedation. I am happy to announce that my cat is now a patient at a different vet clinic (Mount Joy Animal Clinic) where they do not have to sedate and traumatize him with every visit. My vet now handles my cat as gently as possible and works around making him as comfortable as possible (which a caring vet should try to do). Cliff Redford may be knowledgeable but he doesn't care about the animals; all he cares about is the money, even if that means traumatizing your pet and performing pointless procedures, which he claims are necessary. They have traumatized my cat and stolen thousands from me in sedation costs over the years. You would be a fool to choose this clinic when there are many other clinics nearby with better and more understanding vets. Please do not make the mistake that I did and choose a better vet who cares about your pet and who isn't just there to be a money grubber. Read Less

Get pet insurance its well worth the peace of mind. Get it when they are a puppy. Pet Secure is great with the 80% coverage with 300.00 1 time annual deductible. BEWARE OF WELLINGTON VET CLINIC!!!!!! This vet misdiagnosed our yellow lab, and told us she needed shots, charging us thousands of dollars over the years and torturing our poor Daisy. We finally had enough of this awful vet and were losing hope that our baby would never get better. We took her to Village animal clinic at Hwy 7 near Main st Markham. After hearing about what happened with the infamous Cliff, she explained that our dog was simply allergic to something in her dog food, diagnosing her for free. Dr. Branger provided us with recipes and all of the supplements and vitamins (for FREE) to make Daisy’s food at home, and she was perfectly fine and happy within a couple of weeks. I am absolutely horrified at what went on at Wellington vet clinic and I really hope this review deters people from going there. Cliff is a money hungry monster who couldn’t care less about the wellbeing of our dog. I personally know 2 others who have taken their dogs to him (who did not realize it was the same vet that did this to our dog) and he botched a surgery on their Rottweiler, and messed up the other person’s dog. Beware of Cliff and Wellington Vet Clinic. They are very lucky we all haven’t sued. Read Less

I have been a client at Wellington Vet for over 8 years and am so thankful for the service they have given my two dogs. Dr. Cliff and his team are simply the BEST! They were with my golden from the beginning to the end, they made every visit a happy and pleasant one. I am forever grateful to them! My golden bit the tip of his tail off, ate box of dark chocolate, ingested a plastic bone, a plastic ball and many other indigestible items... All I had to do was call the clinic to let them know I was coming in urgently with my dog and they were ready to take over! My dog LOVED Wellington and enjoyed going to the vet, he knew he would be spoiled with love and affection! When I chose to put my dog down because of cancer complications, the team was so understanding of my choice of timing. They gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye. They were incredibly comforting. The staff cried with me because Wellington had become such a huge part of Bentley’s life, and they loved him so dearly! This kind of care isn't found elsewhere. The team is incredibly hardworking and compassionate, their knowledge is incomparable! They truly care about their clients and are so welcoming and kind. The well-being of your pet always comes first above all else. They thoroughly explain procedures and help you understand how things are done! Contrary to the reviews on here, I believe the pricing is fair! They always communicate and break down the pricing for me. Wellington never once overcharged me, or ran unnecessary tests. Everything they have suggested has been for the well-being of my pet, not for their financial benefit. Unfortunate that all the reviews here are about money. I understand from personal experience that having a pet with health complications can be expensive. But, remember you signed up for the chance of unexpected costs when you purchased your pet! Wellington Vet is so caring and understanding, if you communicated your displeasure to them instead of writing a poor review, I believe they would jump at the opportunity to come to an solution with you! I will be a client for life and continue to recommend Wellington to others! Read Less

I should've alerted people awhile ago. This place is all about money grab. Using their position of trust to scare you and guilt you. Wanted to do all sorts of unneccessary expensive tests on my cat when all she needed was a broad spectrum antibiotic for her urinary tract infection. NO ONE SHOULD EVER COME HERE. This clinic scams their clients horribly. They suggests tests that are not necessary just to take your money and prescribe unnecessary medication as well. The doctors misdiagnose all the time just to sell you these unnecessary tests and medications. All of my friends who have come here end up with insanely high bills. Even their flat rate for examination is way higher than other clinics in the area. How can they justify spending 100$ just to see the vet for 5 minutes?????? And they overprice their medications as well. Please consider other clinics before coming here and even if you come, I really hope this is like your last option, because your wallet will cry and a week later, you will have to bring your pet back because they probably misdiagnosed. I would give zero star or even negative if I could due to my recent bad and upsetting experience. I used to come here to bring my cat for annual exam and vaccinations just because it was very closed to my home. Staffs seems to be nice while they at the same time would recommend you to do testes that i think not that necessary. I remembered once that they try to sell me to buy a sterile container to get a poop sample. I mean,  are you serious? Poop sampe is never sterile!Until lately I was told by them that my cat has some dental problem (decreased appetite and drooling) and need some teeth extraction.  After the procedure is done, a free follow up appointment was schedule 3 weeks after and my cat was still drooling and the gum was still red. I was just told by the assistant that it takes time to heal.  So i was asking her that how long this drooling thing is going to last and when should i really concern? Then she started to give me this annoying look (she used to be very nice prior to this) and said that "But he (my cat) was drooling before too, no?". I mean, what the heck!  As a vet assistance she didn't know that cat is not supposed to drool? And wasn't that why i brought him in and they convinced me to do the dental work ay the first place?  So without even get to see the Vet myself on my f/u appointment, the conclusion that I was given was "it takes time to heal"So i waited and things just got worse. I so regretted that i listened to the Wellington staffs that i waited. Anyhow I then  brought my cat to another Vet and the other Vet noticed something unusual at his jaw line. Anyways I am hoping this new Vet at another clinic is good and help me save my cat who i treated as my baby for 11 yrs! So then the Wellington veterinary hospital decided to offer me another free follow up if I really concern. (I'm thinking this happens as other clinic asked them to fax the medical records so they know I'm looking for somewhere else?)  I refused.  Why would i waste my time to come to this clinic again where I totally lost my trust and , sorry that i don't think they are competent. If your pet has real medical issue,  please think twice before coming here. Read Less

I've been to a couple other vets around Markham because my poor kitty had to get 2 surgeries. Out of all of them, we have stuck with Wellington because when they first opened they were open 7 days a week which meant we did not need to pay extra over night fees if my cat had to go into surgery again. other vets, we went to were closed weekends and my cat had to have surgery on a Friday and forced to stay overnight for 3 nights because other vets weren't open to get our cat (stupid). But Wellington was open 7 days a week WOO. now I think they are only open 6 days a week which is better than 5. Another plus is the location, super close to where I live about a 7-minute walk or 1-minute car ride. Super important for my cat because he is terrified of being in the car. There is plenty of parking in the plaza so that is never a problem. The facility itself is very clean and spacious. The lobby is always stocked with cat and dog food for purchase and even a section for "human treats." Whenever we book an appointment we do not have to wait, we would be shown into the cat room. Yes, there are separate rooms for cat and dogs. The cat room is decorated with cat pictures and has a scent that is sprayed into the air to calm cats down which is very helpful. The vet, Cliff Redford, is a true animal lover and it shows! He is so passionate and caring about every one of his patients, he treats my cat like one of his own. Super attentive and knowledgable. He even gave my cat a toy and treat at the end of the visit. There is also a dog playroom in the front next to the lobby which is cute. They also let you put up lost pet posters on the window for the public to see walking by. Unlike other vets where you have to go in to see the posters. I highly recommend Cliff Redford and his team. I am truly thankful for the care that my dog gets at Wellington Veterinary Hospital - I sought out Dr. Cliff Redford for his experience with sight hounds, as they have a few issues that are particular to them and I had read that Dr. Redford had retired racing greyhounds himself - I was not disappointed. Having worked in an Animal Hospital for years and getting to know several veterinarians I can safely say Dr. Redford is terrific at what he does, but equally important to me, he genuinely cares about my dog and boy does that ever show when you are in an appointment or speaking with him on the phone (or email for that matter). I recently had to take my beloved whippet to the 404 Emerg overnight and I could not wait to get her back to Dr. Redford and his crew as they have been able to make my skittish whippet feel loved and at home like no other vet has and the peace of mind that gives me is priceless. Not once have I ever felt rushed in an appointment and the way that Dr. Redford explains results etc. are truly the mark of a person who cares about people and pets. His staff seem genuinely interested in how my dog is doing and I feel comfortable when she has to stay for tests etc. Read Less

The only reason we went to this vet was because they were on Sunday when our regular vet wasn't. Our German Shepherd had some skin issues so we brought him in to get him checked. The vet clinic is nice, but the largest issue was the doctor. The moment the Dr. Kim walked in, he cowered. Our dog is a well trained working dog who wasn't even moving. We asked him to check is skin and all he did was pet his neck and do nothing else. He didn't peel back his hair to look at his skin or do anything but feed him dry beef liver. No examinations were done and the only thing he kept saying was that it was a food allergy. We walked out paying money for some antibiotics and dog shampoo to "wash out his allergies". We ended bringing our dog back to our regular vet the very next day and it turned out to be "hot spots", a bacterial growth UNDERNEATH the skin caused by moisture and bug bites. We were lucky in the fact that Dr. Kim prescribed the correct medicine by chance but I believe it was all by luck. It's a large shame I paid for this vet to examine my dog and he didn't even do an examination to let us know exactly what was wrong with him.  Incompetent vet who's afraid of a well trained dog. He should be ashamed to call himself a vet when he can't do his job properly. Read Less

This Dr. Redford doesn't seem like he knows what he's talking telling me my dog is not pure breed (my puppies parents are like kennel club pure) and saying he "thinks" my dog has a urinary tract infection and he "thinks" he's giving the right prescription, I can "think" that too based off of my google search. I got charged for a urine analysis that was "inconclusive", so basically I paid an exorbant price for nothing. Having my dog "examined" by him was the most useless thing, he basically felt my dog all over. Have been with this hospital since cat was 1.5 years old from their Markham Rd & 16 location which has now moved to Castlemore in Food Basics plaza. Now cat is 4 yrs old. Reason we switched from Animal Hospital of Unionville on Hwy 7 is because that vet was dirty (ever come home from a vet super itchy?), and they never remembered my cat's records except when they spammed my snail mail and telephone with reminders for check ups and shots. (When I telephoned in to take her records to a different vet, I told them my cat name and address, and they told me they don't have a record of her). The doctors and nurses at Wellington superlove animals and show a lot of care for their patients.  And they don't send mail or phone calls harassing you to come in for shots: they leave it in your hands to make the decision to come in. Their clinic is clean, THERE ARE SEPARATE ROOMS FOR CATS AND DOGS, the complimentary drinks are a considerate service, there's an indoor dog park, and they have a doctor named "Cliff Redford".  I rest my case. I'll be saving money and taking my business elsewhere. I stongly recommend you adhere to the advise of the other reviewers who feel as though these guys are all about money. Read Less

I been going there for 10 years. My black Lab has had 4 surgeries. Last one was to remove a mass weighing 2.5 lbs from groin. Was evasive and recovery was tough but the team was great helping myslef get thru it. Dog was fine its the owner that had a minor anxiety attack. I trust them completely with my friend. Get pet insurance its well worth the peace of mind. Get it when they are a puppy. Pet Secure is great with the 80% coverage with 300.00 1 time annual deductible. And for those who seem to compare human meditations with dog medications for price its Not the same thing! The professionalism Wellington Vet demonstrates give us the peace of mind knowing we are doing whats best for our friends. Read Less

The vet who looked after my family was a young female vet. Wished I remembered her name. Don't come here. I see people are still victims based on their reviews. Read Less

Shittiest vet clinic I've ever seen Read Less

I have a friend that was able to do the same thing and tell me more useful information and better update me on my dogs condition. After being charged $200+ for "inconclusive" test results...there's no way I'm coming back. Read Less
