I feel I have to write this review to help other people to make a better decision when they are looking for a new vet, or a vet in emergency situation.
My cat Cleopatra didn't feel well, I brought her to Dr. Ross A. Dawson to assess and suggest. He said she has jaundice, and her condition is heavy. He ordered a blood work, and gave her a shot of medication.
I asked if anything else he could do: X-ray, examination, or let her stay in the hospital, get more treatment, pain medication, hydration,,?
He said, 'No need for that. 'i'll call you tomorrow about blood work, and we'll see".
Next morning he called, I brought Cleopatra in, and I told the doctor that she is getting significantly worse, she is in pain, can't walk, can't eat, or drink, and barely moving. "
Instead of keeping her in the hospital, he gave her another shot and some subcutaneous hydration bolus , and told me to take her back home and bring her next day.
He saw her condition, he didn't offer anything else.
On that night I made an arrangement in the middle of the night with Emergency vet clinic in Mississauga, as Cleopatra got much worse.
Unfortunately, Cleopatra passed in big suffering, and agony.
When I brought Cleopatra back to him the next morning after she passed, he told me: "Yeah, sorry. Didn't I tell you she was dying? I told you she was in critical condition."
No, doctor, you didn't tell me she was dying! You didn't tell me she is in Critical condition! You refused her to stay in the hospital from day 1!!!!!!!!!!!
You've sent her home on day 1, and day 2!!!!!!!!!!, even after I told you she was feeling WORSE!!!!! Either your assessment was wrong, you you have no heart at all by sending the dead ill animal home without giving her pain medication, and redirecting all the responsibility for her life to me! How come?
If you knew she was dying, how come you didn't tell me about it? How could you sent her back home with me if you knew she was dying?!
You know that you didn't do your best, doctor Dawson. You know you could give her more treatment, keep her overnight (or suggest another clinic where more treatment could be provided), or tell me that she needs more treatment. You didn't do any of those and that's why I am upset with you.
Instead, doc, you asked me to get her home, and bring her the next day.
If I knew she is in such a bad shape or going to get even worse, I would find the OTHER PLACE for her to die in comfort, or to be admitted for emergency treatment , and provide her more treatment, in the right time.
In any case, this is my sad experience. I am blaming myself that Cleopatra passed in big suffering, and agony that night... Because I blindly trusted this doctor's opinion even my subcuncious mind told me: bring her to another vet!.
I should have bring her to another vet right away after you, doctor, rejected her admission on day 1...
My conclusion:- skip this doctor, find another place. Same for emergency situations - don't even consider him.
