We have been coming to Hawkins for almost 18 years and have always received wonderful and compassionate care for our animals.   We started out with 4 cats; added a dog and then another young dog.  We have lost all of our cats now to various illness and old age and the team at Hawkins gave us the time, attention and empathy to grieve for our babies.  Our geriatric Border Collie is now a constant source of monitoring for us and the staff is with us every step of the way, offering affordable solutions and suggestions to keep him comfortable and happy, while also providing the regular check-ups we need to keep our younger dog healthy and fit.  Our relationship with the staff has always been a positive one; we ask, they answer and the bottom line has always been the care of the animals we love so much.  We wouldn't take our furry family members anywhere but Hawkins Animal Hospital. Up sells pain meds that aren't needed, convincing owners their dogs are getting worse only to milk 1000's of dollars in tests for nothing, then suggesting to put the dog down. diagnosing a thyroid problem, prescribing meds that if you dont give to your pet they will die. all without running a single test. Dr. Hawkins always been amazing with our dog and when Lucky needed a surgery to remove his lump from his neck the team did everything to make sure he will be cared for extremely well. We been going there for years and have nothing but GREAT experience every time we need to visit. Read Less

If you don't want your pet to get checked, then come here. This is not my normal vet but I had an emergency with my dog. This was the nearest vet so I went in around 245 on a Saturday. I told them the situation and all they did was hand me pamphlets to an emergency vet because they were closing. They didn't do anything for my dog. The young girl working was at least compassionate but they turned me away. I've owned pets my entire life and have never been more disgusted with a veterinarian. Read Less

Do not go here unless you want to be over-charged!!  My first visit to this place with my cat was pleasant and I really liked the staff, but soon it was apparent that this place charges a fortune!  After asking for a consult on my cat's dental needs during the first visit, they didn't write anything down and therefore I had to return for a second visit for another consult in which I was charged an extra $40 for a "re-check" fee.  Then, the vet decided to do blood work on my cat prior to giving me a quote that I had asked for twice on the cost of having a few of the cat's teeth removed.  The quote came to $1800 to have up to 4 teeth removed which is ridiculous in my opinion.  Had I known the cost, I would have started somewhere else, but they take advantage of you and do the blood tests on your pet prior to giving you this information so they can charge you $200 for the blood tests that you likely didn't need in the first place!  I felt completely ripped off that I spent $250 for them to re-check teeth and do blood work that wasn't necessary.  Not to mention they never explained why the blood tests were needed in the first place and what they would be checking.   Have received several other quotes since this time for tooth extractions that are half the price and one vet even said that it was strange that they proceeded to do blood work without providing me with all of the information first. Buyer beware! Go somewhere else unless you want a place that cares more about money than your pet's well-being. Read Less
