We have been taking our 2 dogs to Westbridge for about 7 years now. The staff at Westbridge are excellent, and we’ve always gotten nothing but the very best care and support from everyone on the Team — Receptionists, Animal Care Attendants, Veterinary Technicians, and the Veterinarians. I have to particularly mention Doctor Hylands (or Dr Bob as we like to call him). About a month ago one of our pups took ill (retching / vomiting) and Dr Bob recommended a series of tests to try and determine the problem. Later that day, he spent over an hour with us going over the tests he had done, showing us the X-rays and Ultrasounds which identified an intestinal irritation as well as an incidental finding — an abdominal mass (tumor) that was of great concern and for which further tests were suggested. We took the necessary steps to address the intestinal irritation and returned to Westbridge shortly thereafter for what we thought would be a needle biopsy of the mass. A new Ultrasound done that day showed significant changes in the size and shape of the tumor. Westbridge has some very advanced medical equipment on site, and their ultrasound machine is able to scan tumors on a colour spectrum to assist the Veterinarians in determing if tumors are benign or malignant. In our case the tumor showed blue, which meant malignant. Dr Bob contacted us right away and recommended immediate removal of the tumor. Once the surgery started, it was discovered that the tumor had adhered to our dog’s small intestines and appendix, making the surgery to remove it more complicated. Dr Bob was able to remove the tumor along with a small piece of appendix and small intestine. He identified the mass as an aggressive type of cancer, with the histology report confirming his findings along with the good news that the margins were clear, meaning no evidence that the cancer had spread beyond the tumor. We were very fortunate to have caught this early. To put it simply — Dr Bob saved our dog’s life. He helped us to understand the test results and make informed decisions in regards to the care of our pet, and recommended swift action when the test results indicated a drastic change in what we were dealing with. His skill was instrumental in our achieving the best possible outcome for our pup, and for that we will be forever grateful. We know our dog’s are in great hands with everyone at Westbridge Veterinary and that’s because they all truly care for their patients and the families. Thank you just isn’t enough. Fantastic! I can't say enough about this clinic. I recently got my beloved kitty spayed there and there prices were reasonable and there were no "surprise" costs when I went to pick her up. They also called me the following day to ask that I bring my kitty in for a complimentary visit as she was still acting a little funny after all the sedation. The staff there are all trained and fantastic with animals and employ techniques aimed at reducing their fear as much as possible. Dr. Hyland is an extremely arrogant individual who has major control issues. He does not understand how he comes across and is filled with ego that he knows it all. In fact, I would go so far as to call him a bully. I would never, ever take my pet there again and regret the day I ever went there to begin with. If you care about the emotional well being of your pet, do not subject him or her to this man's energy. I don't trust him at all and wish I had a way of proving the harm he did to my pet. I called in because I needed an estimate for dental work. I was to bring the dog in at a no charge consultation to take a look at his teeth. I then explained he had a bit of a low thyroid issue, not major but that it may be 2 points under. And that years and I say years ago, he had seizures that stopped cold since 2010. Not one seizure in 7 years. All of a sudden, it was we will have to charge you 74.00 for the exam which is non refundable. I am like, for what? You are just looking at his mouth since you already confirmed blood work and ex-rays are done under anesthesia? This sudden change is so unethical. Touching my dog's mouth, is the same with or without his history. How ignorant. This is a form of profiling. Dog profiling lol. I called 2 other clinics and explained the exact same thing, they were gracious enough to quote pricing and offer initial consult at no charge. Do these vets think consumers don't research? If they changed their price so quickly, what would happen when your dog is under their mercy and they call you to tell you, ohhhh, we need to do an extraction, and since he had a thyroid issue we will have to double the price. Be careful. Anyone who randomly changes pricing like that on you is money hungry and unethical. Total BS! Consumer beware. Read Less

I can't say enough positive things about this clinic! Everyone there is so friendly and knowledgeable. The reception staff are welcoming and accommodating. The vets that I've had the pleasure of dealing (Dr. Buller and Dr. Hylands) are incredibly skilled and compassionate. I will definitely not be taking my dog anywhere else! This is the best vet I've ever had. The doctors and staff are knowledgable and compassionate and will treat your furry family members with gentleness and love. Dr. Hylands helped us treat our sweet cat who ended up having a heart defect from birth that we had not been aware of. He would Not.give.up. He was very honest with us and put our little guy first at all times. Our little Cullen was not able to recover, but if love and determination alone had been enough to make him well, he would have lived forever. I will never be able to forget the caring everyone showed to us. We felt like their only client and in the end, the staff seemed as devestated as we were. I will never be able to thank them enough and I wouldn't trust my loved one to anyone else but them. Their prices are very reasonable as well. I did not have a good experience with this vet hospital. I was worried when I saw that my new cat had a strange, grainy mass on her butt. I assumed it was scabbing so I treated it like a wound but it didn't change. I took her to west bridge where they told me it was just feces stuck to her. I was relieved and thankful, they also trimmed her nails and gave me a new kitten package. Sounds really good until I saw the bill.The bill was 200$. Just to remove the feces.When I took her home I also noticed that her nails were grinded down very short. VERY SHORT.Now she freaks out whenever anyone touches her claws. She was fine with it before. I used clip her nails with few issues I feel unfairly charged and pissed about my cats nails. Read Less

Westbridge Veterinary Hospital is the only place you should take your pet. My boyfriend and I have taken out two cats to multiple vets across Toronto and none of them have come close to the level of expertise and amazing care at Westbridge. Dr. Morin, and especially Dr. Buller, are incredible doctors who are not only experts, but also genuinely care about the wellbeing of animals. We brought our cat into Westbridge to get a second opinion on her oral discomfort. The doctors were incredibly thorough and helpful in explaining the issues. Dr. Buller even went beyond anything we could have expected and came in on her day off to perform surgery, We cannot express enough how grateful and impressed we are by this hospital. Great service all around. I am very happy to have them as a vet for my dog. Recently my dog had to have surgery to remove something he wasn't able to digest. When I called in the morning, they squeezed us in to be seen, and my dog had surgery that day. After surgery, I have had multiple calls from them to check in on him. I do not know how it was a 2 that was definitely not intentional. Dr. Hyland, Dr. Buller have been caring for my cats since my previous cat Tasha was 9 and she died in 1995 at 15. Dr. Morin came in at some point but it's been a very long time, Screach, Tasha, Misfit, Boots, Cosette my precious girl that they spent so much time on. I could get an appointment pretty quick and even though it was just a checkup the doctor spent plenty of time with my cat. Also, she wet her cage on the way there and the staff was awesome at just cleaning her up really quick and then putting her wet toys in a ziploc for me. Great experience! Read Less

I HIGHLY recommend Westbridge Veterinary Hospital. They really have their "stuff" together and they are a very professional, extremely well managed and well run clinic. All of the staff are INCREDIBLE and friendly, and seem to truly, truly care about pets. I really can't say enough about how fantastic they are. In particular Dr. Buller and Dr. Hylands are hands down the best. They seem to come from an age in veterinary medicine where you sometimes use your knowledge of veterinary medicine to diagnose a problem, but you apply logic to the solution, ensuring that the pet has the best outcome, without having to completely drain your pocket book. I found Dr. Morin to be a bit... over baring, young and relies more on tests than on logic-type solutions. I got a bit annoyed with her. In her defence, my pet was very sick, I was extremely frustrated, and I had already spent a great deal of money at that point, so I wasn't exactly buying what she was selling.Their prices for regular exams are very, very, very reasonable. And compared to other vets in the city, their prices overall are reasonable to comparable. The benefit here however, is the service that you will get, which you won't find for the same price somewhere else. All in all, I highly recommend Westbridge Veterinary Hospital, and will definitely be returning soon with my pet. Read Less

This review comes after getting my puppy neutered here.After being quoted a very high price for a cyptorchid neuter from our regular vet, I began to feel out other clinics. I immediately got a great feeling from the woman who answered the phone when I called Westbridge - very friendly and informative. And unlike every other vet I called, they actually had two set prices for a cryptorchid neuter (depending on the difficulty of the procedure).Since the cost was right and I felt really good about the clinic, I scheduled the appointment. Everyone at Westbridge was very friendly and informative, and I felt great about our decision. Our pup is recovering well, and everything went off without a hitch. For their friendliness, professionalism and expertise, I give them 5 out of 5! They even followed up with discharge notes that detailed the procedure, and a phone call a few days later.The only reason I didn't give full stars was because of the surprising bill after all was said and done. Our pup was a special case, and one thing after another added up until our bill was as high as our regular vet had quotes many months ago. I was a bit upset because the receptionist I had originally talked to had assured me that the price she gave me was what I would end up paying - and nothing else. (Whereas the official quote and final bill were several hundred dollars more).I know not everything can be predicted when it comes to surgical procedures, but I definitely didn't appreciate the price difference. That said, everything else was flawless and I would definitely recommend this vet to anyone! Read Less

This clinic awesome!And believe me, I've been through a lot of bad vet clinics.  My search stopped here.  Dr. Hylands & Dr. Buller  (the husband/wife owners) are the nicest, most caring people you will ever meet, and so are the rest of their staff.  They truly care about your animal and have 1/2 hour long appointments so they can be sure to explain everything in detail (other clinics have only 5-10 minutes slots).  They uphold the highest ethical standards and will not recommend unneccessary treatments or vaccinations that will make your animal more sick in order to make more money (this happens a lot in the industry - I've learned the hard way).  They will work with you and if you are like me and prefer to treat your pet naturally, they will always support you while looking out for the best interest of the animal.  For example since I wanted to feed my pet home cooked food, they recommended a vitamin supplement to add (instead of calling me crazy and insisting on buying the pet food that they sell - like my last vet did). These vets are 100% trustworthy.  They are for the animals, not the money. Read Less
