Before you choose to come to this hospital, think again. Once you are there your pet owner's rights are non-existant. The doctor's did not want to give our chinchilla back and we were confronted with only two choices. Pay initial $800 bill for an over night stay with care or to euthanize him. We were not prepared to make the decision about her death and we were not allowed to take our pet home. They threatened us with legal prosecutions because we refused both choices instead hoping that a loving home care will help in his recovery. Finally, when we wrestled to have our pet back, they sent an SPCA officer right away to our home. When we got home, the officer threatened us with the law court if we do not surrender him.
When they brought our chinchilla back, it looked as if our pet was in much distress as if the doctors did not know what to do with him. He was grossly overheated, his ears were red with veins popping out, like they did not know our pet was prone to heat strokes since her natural environment is in the cold Andean mountains.
We went to the vet with hope that we will be given some medicine and to leave with a cure in recovery for our pet. They did not agree that every disease means suffering and that animals should not suffer, and because animals should not suffer they should be killed. In our belief, every sickness means suffering and even if there is suffering, you should always hope for recovery. Even though they could not diagnose the disease of our chinchilla, they did not share the hope. They did not have hope that he will recover even though they could not diagnose him, that is not an approach of a good, compassionate doctor. However, we had hope in him and a home recovery, otherwise dying at home with love and care peacefully rather than being poisoned.
Comparing our pet experiences with other pet owners, we were not given the same rights. Our neighbour's cat was suffering and was told that she needed to be euthanized. However, the owner could bring her home and to come to a decision to put her down or not. We were not given this right. Another example is that our dachshund had a broken spine and still the doctor's had given us time at home to decide to go for surgery or not even though she was suffering. Yet again, we were not even given this right with lynwood doctors. These doctor's humanity became inhuman in extreme. We were haunted down and threatened constantly. In the end, they took our loved pet.
