Downsview Veterinary Hospital has been a part of the Downsview community for over 40 years; our health care team offers integrative veterinary care for people and their beloved pets from our community and the surrounding GTA. We are pet owners serving pet owners. We understand the special role your furry companion plays in your family, so you have our promise that we will work hard to provide you with individualized care.
At Downsview Animal Hospital nothing makes us happier than helping our patients achieve wellness. By having a solid foundation in conventional veterinary care, we are a full-service small animal veterinary practice that offers regular medical, surgical and preventative services for dogs and cats at our hospital. We maintain active referral networks for the recognized specialties.
The hospital has a surgery suite and equipment to ensure sterility of surgical instruments, an x-ray unit, an anesthetic machine, oxygen delivery, fluid pumps for administering intravenous fluids, equipment for dental treatment including dental x-ray, and laboratory equipment for analyzing blood samples when pets are ill and need prompt medical treatment. Patient housing is located such that staff can keep an eye on sick patients from the treatment room. The hospital is equipped with four networked computers to ensure that paperwork can be processed quickly, so that our patients and their owners don’t have to wait very long. The staff also uses the computers to communicate with pet owners by email, control inventory so that we don’t run out of supplies unexpectedly, and participate in veterinary continuing education programs over the Internet. We hope that this website will further our ability to provide the services our patients and their owners need.

After a very disappointing visit to our regular vet, I was referred to Dr. Ron by a neighbor. My 13-year-old cat was in dire need of tooth extractions which had unfortunately been put off during the pandemic. From the moment I requested a first visit, the staff were incredibly caring and polite and took us within a week’s time. Kitty was assessed and scheduled for a surgery immediately. Dr. Ron took so much care and time to explain the procedure, and post-surgery, he also took the time to explain the radiographs and x-rays and exactly what he had done. I was given clear instructions on post-operative care, and although kitty was not quite herself for more than a week, she was back to her old self in no time thanks to all of the care taken. I’d like to thank Dr. Ron and his wonderful team for taking such great care of my baby, Sable. I highly recommend this clinic

Dr. Moore is professional, jovial and provides a comfortable setting in his office where you do not feel like any question is. ‘silly’ question. At my post-purchase visit(Jan 2020), I had to ask how many nails I had to clip on my pup’s paws, I couldn’t see them all because of his puppy fur. Dr’ Moore gladly assisted and demonstrated the process. On our subsequent visits, we had the same pleasant experience and then when it was curbside visits, his staff was highly professional and patient. Thank you for all your efforts and patience Downsview Vet staff😀

At first thought this was a good vet brought my kitten there a few times for check ups. Later in the year Leah had gotten sick so we brought her in and Dr Ron did a few things nothing really was help...
At first thought this was a good vet brought my kitten there a few times for check ups. Later in the year Leah had gotten sick so we brought her in and Dr Ron did a few things nothing really was helping he gave us some medication to take home and basically said to us good luck and there was "nothing else he could do " but he wasn't being polite when saying this. Pretty much just wanted our baby kitten to loose to the sickness by helping her as little as he could. Still knowing something was wrong we rushed her to the emergency animal hospital downtown as she was much more sick then Dr Ron had told us. Animal hospital and us as a couple did everything we could to save poor Leah but she passed away after a week and half in the e.r. Overall I wouldn't recommend going here honestly guys find a better vet in the area this guy is Scum.

Dr. Ron is not very professional. He pushes vet based diets, stating high quality food is not good enough compared to the diet he supports. He does not agree with raw feeding and tries to push that it's harmful to pets.
He is overly personal asking about your personal job or what you do.
He does not ASK before placing a charge on your bill. He pushes for you to spay or neuter your animal before it's even if age, he wants you to book the apt for that to soon. When asking common questions he does not answer directly. I was not told about the puppy package when I asked about costs, it was not even an option since they want the full price each visit.
Honestly not a good vet, I would not recommend him to anyone I know nor will I be going back.
The clinic is clean and convenient, the prices are not any cheaper then any other vet. The staff is not very bright. They do not ask if they can give your dog a treat, they over feed treats. They openly have friends or family come into the clinic and cause a scene!! They have no knowledge on food brands and do not go over the costs that will be on the invoice.
I have to much to complain about. I won't be returning.

Dr. Moore treated my dog multiple times for the problems after his surgery, but never charged me anything extra at all. The only thing I paid for was the surgery. As to the review that said they killed your cat, this is the wrong vet. Dr. Moore is a male doctor, and the review keeps complaining of a "she."

First impression was that it was a clean clinic, then Dr. Ron explained everything so i could have a better understanding of how to care for my cat. He was quick but very efficient and my cat was comfortable with his check up, he didn't probe her too much and when we got back home she was playing again as if nothing had happened, even after getting her first shot, check up, and 2 medications. They did not over charge, they were friendly and professional. I was very surprised and pleased with mine and my cat's first visit to a Vet.

Dr. Ron is an amazing vet and person. He understands what it's like to love your pets and does everything in his power to help you and your pets. We found him through another vet who had moved onto other endeavours in his life as well as a close friend who found him first. We've had continued issues with our pets and Dr. Ron has always listened to our concerns carefully as well as giving us wonderful knowledge and expert care. He neutered our dog when it was time, gave him all of his shots and dealt with other health issues that he had. He lovingly helped us through the passing of our elderly cat and now, puts up with my incessant worry and fear over our other cat. I'm sure I drive him crazy but, he is extremely caring, understanding and patient, oftentimes, calling me to see how she's doing before I call him. (ESP Dr. Ron? ;) ) The staff at DVH is just as incredible as Dr. Ron is with us. I've seen them being run off of their feet with being busy, helping us all and yet...maintain an extremely professional, caring and kind personality with everyone. We cannot thank them all enough for all that they do for us and our fur babies. :)

The women purpose put my cat down. She was dramatic , and she hurt my 13 year old cat. I thinking of sue them. Very bad. No star. Go to willowdale. Really they not good. They killed my pet. And girl did it purposely cause her attitude to me being on welfare go to anywhere is better. I'm still pissed she killed my cat.......

Dr. Ron and his staff are amazing. Unfortunately our puppy has had a tough life so far. We purchased her from a breader and after 4 days found out we were sold a very sick dog. She was diagnosed with parvo and her condition went downhill quickly. This was a very hard time for us and the staff at DVH helped us through it. She has also had a conditon with her paws where the tissue was dieing and required special care. The cause of the condition is still unkown but Dr Ron makes sure to take extra good care with her so it does not return (this includes a list of medications and vaccinations we cannot give her). Since then she has had 3 other conditions that she is currently being treated for. Everytime i call the DVH with a concern they take me in right away. There has been many occasions that we have not had an appointment but I have rushed my pup in and they have taken great care of her and helped us when we were in need. Dr Ron has also done her routine procedures (recently her spay) and he did an amazing job. Every vet we see (she has seen alot of specialits) says our girl is an extreme case and i cant thank the staff at DVH enough for all they have done . They are very helpful, friendly and understanding. Karma (our pup) and I would highly recommend bringing your pets here!

My boston terrier sees Dr. Ron at this veterinary hospital. I have friends that have referred me to this clinic, and we are very happy with the service. The staff is very friendly, informative, and they truly care about my dog. My 9 week old puppy was very sick with a allergic reaction. Dr ron was very helpful and attentive to my dog's needs. I even received follow up phone calls after the vet visit as the vet and staff were concerned about my dog and wanted to see how she was feeling. I highly recommend this vet hospital for your pets! I am so happy with the service. I will definitely be committed to using this vet clinic!

Very clean well organized, and stocked, with a most kind friendly staff!
Excellent Q + A communication, as all our queries were genially and thoroughly very well explained!
Both Dr. Allen and Crystal were awesome to deal with!
Thank you so very much, Bear quite enjoyed his first time visit!

Dr. Ron is not very professional. He pushes vet based diets, stating high quality food is not good enough compared to the diet he supports. He does not agree with raw feeding and tries to push that it's harmful to pets.
He is overly personal asking about your personal job or what you do.
He does not ASK before placing a charge on your bill. He pushes for you to spay or neuter your animal before it's even if age, he wants you to book the apt for that to soon. When asking common questions he does not answer directly. I was not told about the puppy package when I asked about costs, it was not even an option since they want the full price each visit.
Honestly not a good vet, I would not recommend him to anyone I know nor will I be going back.
The clinic is clean and convenient, the prices are not any cheaper then any other vet. The staff is not very bright. They do not ask if they can give your dog a treat, they over feed treats. They openly have friends or family come into the clinic and cause a scene!! They have no knowledge on food brands and do not go over the costs that will be on the invoice.
I have to much to complain about. I won't be returning.

For over 7 years Drs. Ron and Allen have been vets for Skipper. They are the best along with the support staff, Patty, Chrystal and Tiana. The love they have exhibited for my pets is out of this world. They know their stuff. It was Dr. Ron who encouraged me to get a cat and he was right. Taffy is adorable.

Dr. Moore is amazing. You can tell while you are there that he really cares about the well being of your animal. My dog had surgery on his ear there, and due to my dogs age had some issues after the surgery. Dr. Moore treated my dog multiple times for the problems after his surgery, but never charged me anything extra at all. The only thing I paid for was the surgery. On top of that, he seems to be the cheapest in the area. My dog loves him now and I will not go to any other vet. Thank you Dr. Moore.

As to the review that said they killed your cat, this is the wrong vet. Dr. Moore is a male doctor, and the review keeps complaining of a "she."

First impression was that it was a clean clinic, then Dr. Ron explained everything so i could have a better understanding of how to care for my cat. He was quick but very efficient and my cat was comfortable with his check up, he didn't probe her too much and when we got back home she was playing again as if nothing had happened, even after getting her first shot, check up, and 2 medications. They did not over charge, they were friendly and professional. I was very surprised and pleased with mine and my cat's first visit to a Vet.

Dr. Ron is an amazing vet and person. He understands what it's like to love your pets and does everything in his power to help you and your pets. We found him through another vet who had moved onto other endeavours in his life as well as a close friend who found him first. We've had continued issues with our pets and Dr. Ron has always listened to our concerns carefully as well as giving us wonderful knowledge and expert care. He neutered our dog when it was time, gave him all of his shots and dealt with other health issues that he had. He lovingly helped us through the passing of our elderly cat and now, puts up with my incessant worry and fear over our other cat. I'm sure I drive him crazy but, he is extremely caring, understanding and patient, oftentimes, calling me to see how she's doing before I call him. (ESP Dr. Ron? ;) ) The staff at DVH is just as incredible as Dr. Ron is with us. I've seen them being run off of their feet with being busy, helping us all and yet...maintain an extremely professional, caring and kind personality with everyone. We cannot thank them all enough for all that they do for us and our fur babies. :)

The women purpose put my cat down. She was dramatic , and she hurt my 13 year old cat. I thinking of sue them. Very bad. No star. Go to willowdale. Really they not good. They killed my pet. And girl did it purposely cause her attitude to me being on welfare go to anywhere is better. I'm still pissed she killed my cat.......

Dr. Ron and his staff are amazing. Unfortunately our puppy has had a tough life so far. We purchased her from a breader and after 4 days found out we were sold a very sick dog. She was diagnosed with parvo and her condition went downhill quickly. This was a very hard time for us and the staff at DVH helped us through it. She has also had a conditon with her paws where the tissue was dieing and required special care. The cause of the condition is still unkown but Dr Ron makes sure to take extra good care with her so it does not return (this includes a list of medications and vaccinations we cannot give her). Since then she has had 3 other conditions that she is currently being treated for. Everytime i call the DVH with a concern they take me in right away. There has been many occasions that we have not had an appointment but I have rushed my pup in and they have taken great care of her and helped us when we were in need. Dr Ron has also done her routine procedures (recently her spay) and he did an amazing job. Every vet we see (she has seen alot of specialits) says our girl is an extreme case and i cant thank the staff at DVH enough for all they have done . They are very helpful, friendly and understanding. Karma (our pup) and I would highly recommend bringing your pets here!

Dr. Ron and his staff are amazing. Unfortunately our pyppy has had a tough life so far. We purchased her from a breader and after 4 days found out we were sold a very sick dog. My boston terrier sees Dr. Ron at this veterinary hospital. I have friends that have referred me to this clinic, and we are very happy with the service. The staff is very friendly, informative, and they truly care about my dog. My 9 week old puppy was very sick with a allergic reaction. Dr ron was very helpful and attentive to my dog's needs. I even received follow up phone calls after the vet visit as the vet and staff were concerned about my dog and wanted to see how she was feeling. I highly recommend this vet hospital for your pets! I am so happy with the service. I will definitely be committed to using this vet clinic!
