Our clinic offers services for large and small animals, with each of the six veterinarians enjoying different aspects of veterinary medicine. We strive to offer progressive, modern medicine with an emphasis on disease prevention and we look forward to educating you on all aspects of your pet’s physical and mental well being. We consider your pet a member of our extended family and it is our pleasure to offer a warm, caring environment for you and your pet.

I was recommended this place by a good friend of mine, they'd been taking their dog here her entire life. Sadly, her dog got older and older and needed to be put down. She had an appointment scheduled...
I was recommended this place by a good friend of mine, they'd been taking their dog here her entire life. Sadly, her dog got older and older and needed to be put down. She had an appointment scheduled for the weekend so her kids had time to come and be with their family dog for one last time.
Two days before the appointment, she received a phone call informing her that her appointment had been moved forward - for her "convenience". Not at all convenient, as this would mean she would be attending the appointment all alone and her children wouldn't get to say goodbye.
After telling the employee on the other end exactly this, she was met with no assistance. No compassion. No empathy. No apologies. Just an incredibly rude phone call with no regard for what a difficult time this was for the family.
What an absolute disgrace. What kind of a vet clinic offers a euthanasia service if they can't even have the decency to act with any bit of kindness? Unbelievable behaviour. You should all be ashamed and embarrassed.
If this is how you treat some of your clients at their most vulnerable moments, I will not be waiting around to find out how you will treat me and my family. I will never be returning and I'll be sure to let others know just how callous and heartless this clinic is.

Absolutely atrocious service was given to my mother by this clinic.
She has been taking our family pets here for 20 years, and when she made an appointment to euthanize our 14 year old family dog, she was given a date and time and agreed to it, only for you to call the next day and tell her you've moved the date and time to an earlier day "for her", like you were doing her a favour or something. She tried to tell you that her children wouldn't be able to make it that day, and she would have to drive there and back as a sobbing mess by herself, but you did not care, and even rudely hung up the phone on her, and wouldn't pick up when she tried calling back.
Is this what you call empathy? You know that euthanizing a family pet, especially one as old as this is extremely upsetting.
It would have been so easy for you to just be decent on the phone and resolve the issue like an adult. How dare you treat anyone like that and have the audacity to act like a child. You should be ashamed of yourself. These things should be handled with compassion and care, both of which you apparently lack.
We will never be taking another animal here. Which is a shame, because you have always been decent to us in the past.
Do better for your other clients. Nobody should have to deal with this situation, and it is entirely your fault. Unbelievable.

On Friday February 3, 2023, our older dog, "Maddie", was put down. She was approx. 14, and around 9 a.m. she went into seizure. My wife and I decided that our little girl had reached the point in her life , that it was time to let her rest. This was not an easy choice, as any animal lover knows, but we felt it was the best for her. The people at this clinic were not only compassionate and helpful, but we felt that they knew that the choice that we had made was done through love for our Maddie. We were guided through the process, and all segments of the euthanasia were explained with professionalism and understanding of our difficult choice. The process wasn't over when we saw that our Maddie had passed, it was explained after we had said our last goodbyes that if we needed to talk to anyone at the clinic concerning the overwhelming emotions that we were experiencing, that all we had to do was contact them, and they would be there for us. Thank you to all concerned at Ostranders, for all the support and understanding that you have show us, not only for helping us with Maddies passing but with all the pet needs we have received over the last 5 years with our family.

I had an appointment YESTERDAY on June 18 for a regular checkup for my two dogs. I have taken my animals here every year for now 9 years and I book my appointment a year in advance so that I am not late, do not forget, and make sure my dogs get their proper dosage of yearly medication. I have always received 6 Heartguard Interceptor pills that are to be given from June through to November, once a month. I mark down in my calendar with the heart stickers they give in the package on the correct day each month to give the pills so I do not miss it. So when I opened my package I was supposed to start today , I was shocked when there was only 5 pills. I called and spoke with the receptionist, Melissa, who said because my appointment was half way through June that I had missed the June pill and that it was not necessary to take it. I did get upset at this point because I booked my appointment a year in advance to avoid such things like this occurring so why would the receptionist book me so far into June if the pills needed to be started at the beginning of June? Melissa continued with and I do quote "its the same protection if they [dogs] take 5 pills or 6". I continued to ask if that was the case why was I charged for 6 every other year if 5 is the same protection? She came back at me stating I was not understanding what she was staying (and I was not understanding because it does not make any sense) and that she would have the vet call me when they had time tomorrow. After hanging up, I called two other vet offices and explained the situation. Both offices explained to me that under no circumstance should a 6 pack of pills be cut down to 5, especially because I was starting the pills in June. One lady asked me to read the box and it clearly states on the box that the medication it to be taken from June through to November and does not specify when exactly in the month it should be started. The lady continued to explain to me that not every vet would be able to accommodate seeing all dogs on the first of June so it would be impossible for all medication to be started by all dogs in an area on exactly June 1. I did call back to Ostrander vet, spoke with a man named Andrew and he was a apologetic to my experience and understood my frustration. Ultimately, at the end of the day, this is my dogs health we are talking about and I believe that this vet office is shorting packs of medication and telling owners it is okay to perhaps through a few dollars back in their own pocket. Every 5 pills they take makes them a new pack, and they already took 2 of mine!! After 9 years of fantastic service (I drive from Guelph to come to this vet) I have lost all confidence in this Clinic, I will not return after they have shorted my dogs medication. I would recommend to anyone that does continue to stay with this Clinic that they carefully monitor the medication provided by the Clinic and even perhaps get a second or third opinion on proper dosage. My dogs were almost a month short of being protected had I not noticed and got another opinion, one star is just too much!!!

They have cared for my fur babies Misty, Max and Rascal for the last 10 yrs. They have been excellent with them and always very nice to us also. Dr. Carla is our main care taker for our babies.

Ostrander Vet is fantastic. They have been looking after my boys (cats) for almost two years now and the staff are excellent. The care is top notch and the service couldn't be better.

I really wanted to give them more stars, because majority of the time the are Ace's. But after spending a lot on my cat, I was told there was nothing they could do. I was told she wouldn't get better and I should consider that "option". While it's been over 2 years and doing well thanks to adding laxative to her diet. She's happy and getting into old age now, 11 years. Keep in mind this is one instance, I brought her there for years and everything was fine.

I have been going to these vets for several years I recently brought my puppy to them he had a mite problem they just flooded him with antibiotics there was a simple cure but obviously there was no profit in it for Ostrander since they have built this new building it seems that they are more out for profit then caring for our animals for that reason I have left and going to Yates!! Also my friend brought his cat to ostrander Veterinarian he was diagnosed as a female they actually cut him open to spay and realized he was a boy and then proceeded to read move his testicles without any consent this poor boy kitten had his belly ripped open and then his balls cut off these people are not what they used to be for that reason I am never going back just want everybody to know

I have been going to Ostrander Vet because of my very loved hayley. When l got her as a puppy everything was great. I was going to a different vet at the time. I wanted to get my puppy fixed before she came into her first heat. So l made an appointment . Was told after an hour to come get her. Was also told she couldn't have it done ever and that she would be dead by the time she was a year old. Also that l would need to bring her in so they could test her every week for blood and pee samples for it. So l got in touch with my mom who has her sister from the same litter and she didn't have it. So it didn't make any sense. So l got in touch with Julie at the Ostrander vet told her my puppy has Addison disease. That l wanted a second opinion on it. I informed her everything that they told me and had her file faxed over. Julie and the office staff are the best people they care about you and your family pets. My hayley has been fixed and is now going to be 11 years old in November 7. All my family take their pets there as well.

The vets at Ostrander are so kind and compassionate to both animals and their owners. They also understand that no matter how much we love our pets we can't afford to spend thousands of dollars on treatments so they work to find ways to diagnose and treat problems in a budget friendly way. I just wish the clinic was closer to Hamilton but I guess then it wouldn't be the Ostrander Clinic.

I would recommend to anyone that does continue to stay with this Clinic that they carefully monitor the medication provided by the Clinic and even perhaps get a second or third opinion on proper dosage. My dogs were almost a month short of being protected had I not noticed and got another opinion, one star is just too much!!!

They have cared for my fur babies Misty, Max and Rascal for the last 10 yrs. They have been excellent with them and always very nice to us also. Dr. Carla is our main care taker for our babies.

Ostrander Vet is fantastic. They have been looking after my boys (cats) for almost two years now and the staff are excellent. The care is top notch and the service couldn't be better.

I really wanted to give them more stars, because majority of the time the are Ace's. But after spending a lot on my cat, I was told there was nothing they could do. I was told she wouldn't get better and I should consider that "option". While it's been over 2 years and doing well thanks to adding laxative to her diet. She's happy and getting into old age now, 11 years. Keep in mind this is one instance, I brought her there for years and everything was fine.

I have been going to these vets for several years I recently brought my puppy to them he had a mite problem they just flooded him with antibiotics there was a simple cure but obviously there was no profit in it for Ostrander since they have built this new building it seems that they are more out for profit then caring for our animals for that reason I have left and going to Yates!! Also my friend brought his cat to ostrander Veterinarian he was diagnosed as a female they actually cut him open to spay and realized he was a boy and then proceeded to read move his testicles without any consent this poor boy kitten had his belly ripped open and then his balls cut off these people are not what they used to be for that reason I am never going back just want everybody to know

I have been going to Ostrander Vet because of my very loved hayley. When l got her as a puppy everything was great. I was going to a different vet at the time. I wanted to get my puppy fixed before she came into her first heat. So l made an appointment . Was told after an hour to come get her. Was also told she couldn't have it done ever and that she would be dead by the time she was a year old. Also that l would need to bring her in so they could test her every week for blood and pee samples for it. So l got in touch with my mom who has her sister from the same litter and she didn't have it. So it didn't make any sense. So l got in touch with Julie at the Ostrander vet told her my puppy has Addison disease. That l wanted a second opinion on it. I informed her everything that they told me and had her file faxed over. Julie and the office staff are the best people they care about you and your family pets. My hayley has been fixed and is now going to be 11 years old in November 7. All my family take their pets there as well.

The staff and vets here are incredible. They are kind and so knowledgeable, and always happy to help. I live 45 minutes away but continue to go here, just because of how amazing they are!

The vets at Ostrander are so kind and compassionate to both animals and their owners. They also understand that no matter how much we love our pets we can't afford to spend thousands of dollars on treatments so they work to find ways to diagnose and treat problems in a budget friendly way. I just wish the clinic was closer to Hamilton but I guess then it wouldn't be the Ostrander Clinic.
