We first started going to this clinic when our last dog needed to be put down last year. When we got a new puppy it was a natural choice to return because they were AMAZING helping us say goodbye to our 14 year old fur baby. The vet techs, vets and front desk staff are all fantastic. They are always friendly and knowledgable. We are especially thankful for Kandis and her "Clicker Buddies" dog training. I never knew training a dog could be so rewarding as a pet owner and how enjoyable it is for our dog as well. She is patient, extremely knowledgable and a pleasure to work with. Seeing all the ribbons and awards she has won with her dogs was intimidating at first when I brought our little Frenchie, who peed on the floor all the time, but Kandis was professional and very approachable. I would not hesitate to recommend both Burloak Animal Hospital and their 'in-house trainer' Kandis. Read Less

As a bird owner, I wasn't sure I could find a vet who'd a) see a bird at all and b) give my feathery friend the care she needed. I am happy to say that I found this place! Mine was an emergency situation, during their regular business hours, and although I wasn't a current customer and I didn't have an appointment, they still told me to come in. The receptionist took my concerns, told me the best way to transport my pet in the chilly weather, and upon arrival I was taken right into a room. They took the bird away immediately to put her in an oxygen tank, just in case, and brought her back in after ten minutes so she could be examined. The vet was careful and gentle with the bird, and very patient with my questions and very thorough. They did a stain test while I waited, and medication was given to me, along with detailed instructions on how to administer it. After going home, I received two follow up calls to check on the status of my pet. I would recommend this clinic to anyone for their attention to detail, thoughfulness, and genuine affection for animals.Read Less

Over the course of a few visits, we met quite a few staff members at the Hospital. Each and every one of them went above and beyond to make us comfortable and with each visit proved more and more that they truly understand the value of their work. The doctors, the receptionists - unfortunately, I didn't learn everyone's position during our visits - were outstanding. They were kind, considerate, and showed more compassion for us and our pet than the other businesses we've dealt with, including the Humane Society.Read Less

Dr. McKinnon has seen my cockatiel and my leopard gecko, and has been wonderful on all visits. It's delightful that she treats a little gecko with the same care and compassion that she does with the bird! The staff are phenomenal, and I have nothing but praise for the technicians and the administrative staff. Everyone cares so much for our little critters, and are gentle and sweet with them. I can see how it might be hard to love a lizard, but when our elderly gecko Sam had eye problems, the compassion and patience we felt from everyone here helped immeasurably in getting him back to chomping on crickets in no time. Now we're trying to negotiate a trans-continental move, and the clinic has gone above and beyond in helping us sort through the various logistics to ensure our beloved pets come with us. I can't recommend Burloak enough, especially if you have exotic pets!Read Less

We have been clients for many years. We have always found the staff to be very compassionate with our animals. We recently had to euthanize our very senior dog. Dr. Garcia was so gentle and gracious with Brandy and with our family. We never for one moment felt rushed. Dr. Garcia explained everything to us and said when you are ready, take your time. We received a beautifully hand written and compassionate expression of sympathy card. In a world when technology prevails, it is small gestures like this that means so much. We have two cats that still visit Dr. Garcia and the staff. We love the new cat room - keep up the great work. The Burton Family. Read Less

We are posting this on behalf on one of our clients: I brought Norman(long-haired red Persian male with catitude) to get a lion cut on Tuesday. I cant say enough about the professional, caring, wonderful women I met. I was taken into the Cat Room which was super comfortable for owners and pets, very quiet, had a fish tank, subdued lighting and a stool for a cat to look out the window. Norman is usually very skiddish when entering a vet. Here he sat on my lap watching the fish and purring. No one rushed us through, I could tell everyone I met on that day, loves animals and when they handled him, it was exceptionally gentle. I have never been treated this well and have been to at least 10 different vets since owning animals. I would highly recommend anyone taking their animal to you. It was a relaxing, fun outing instead of the stress I encountered elsewhere. And I was pleasantly surprised about the cost. I was willing to pay more but the procedure was explained very well and in the end it cost less because Norman was more relaxed than usual. And the follow-up call the next day was unexpected as well. I brought my veiled chameleon to Dr. McKinnon. She was amazing and genuinely concerned, and accommodating - even offered to keep him over night at no cost. Recommend her 100%!
