We brought our 12 year old dog in to get treatment for her seasonal allergy. The vet listened to her heart and checked her skin but refused to prescribe her anything unless we had blood work done first. We asked if we could sign a waiver so that they are not responsible for anything but she said “no”. She was worried about her liver and kidneys. We said that she is 12 years old and we just want her remaining life to be comfortable and that she has been on medication for this for the last 11 years for about one month of each year. The blood work was $180.00 plus tax. The appointment cost $104.00. We left without the med and very frustrated that our senior dog could not be helped without spending $375.00 for a prescription renewal. We would never recommend Ark animal hospital to anyone. I have a dog named Marley who is going into her thirteenth year.  She is deaf and has trouble with arthritis but she is still enjoying life.  She has seasonal allergies since she was young.  Every year she is on Prednisone to help her with the itching. Her regular vet could not see her until next week so we thought to be pro-active and get her to see a vet ASAP.  We have dealt with Ark animal hospital for years until we moved out of Orillia so we used them today (August 31, 2018) for her allergy problem.  The vet listened to her heart and checked her skin.  Then she said before she could prescribe Prednisone she would have to have blood work for $180.00 plus tax.  We asked if we could opt out of the blood work and sign a waiver that they are not responsible for anything that could go wrong.  She said "no"  even though we explained that she has been on it every August for 10 years at.   They billed me $104.00 for the five minute visit and no resolution to her allergy problem.  It was a complete waste of money!I will not go back and would not recommend it to anyone else. We went to this place before, when we own our first dog. Back than they were awesome, they care and love the pets, after 3 years later, we went back with our second puppy, the Vet that used to see us was no longer there, it now run by a couple of younger female, all they care about is making money. They don’t really care about the pets as they used to be, They want us to do test after test for the same symptoms and charge us every single time, without knowing what drug is effective to use. This place is horrible! A good friend of mine went in there a while ago with his older dog, and asked them if he could do payments and he was told "No we take bum's off the streets and help them out with their dogs"! This was about 2 months ago. My friend is an older man (in his 60's) and he certainly does not look like a bum! Not that that should make a difference. I use to be new to the area and didn't want to travel to bring my dog to her vet appointments  so I decided it was time to change vets for her regular check up and what not. Very disappointed in the customer service I received and the lack of acknowledgement when they forgot to give my dog one of her shots. I ended up switching vets and will never go there again. We recently visited ARC animal hospital with our French Bull dog Dexter. We had Dr. Dawn Adare who had the in my opinion was ignorant and contradicted herself through the appointment with Dexter. My dog was in for a skin condition and when i left I had no more information about Dexters condition then before the visit . When I told the doctor that my dog was on a raw diet she stated that it was wrong and that she should be handling my dog with gloves. She never did put gloves on for the appointment and when dexter pooped on the floor she stated we should send his pop away for testing. She was very pushy about sending the sample when I stated both my dogs had been treated for worms and that I didn't understand what what had to do with Dexters skin condition. She then picked up the poop with a napkin and no gloves even though she made me feel my dog was contaminated from his raw food diet. I told the doctor I was very confused with what she had told me and that I would get a second opinion from our previous vet in Barrie at allandale. She never once offered an opinion from another vet from ARC. We move to Orillia from Barrie and thought we would give ARC a try. We did go to allandale in Barrie and had Dexter treated for half the price. We called and asked to speak to the owner of ARC. When we showed up at the vet we had a telephone conversation with Dr. Allan and she did agree that Dr.Adares behaviour was inappropriate but was not willing to compensate us for our visit. She also agree that when I told dr. Adare I was going to get a second opinion it should have been offered to us there. We felt if they had of handled the situation appropriately we would not have needed the second vet visit and would have continued service with them due to convience. This just made us realize how appreciated and well treated we are at our Allandale vet and it's so worth the 30 minute drive. ARCs reception staff and all others are great but the we needed the doctors seeing our pets(family members) to be justs as friendly and accommodating. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone. Avery and Pugly have been going to Ark, for over 2 yrs now...although going to the vet is not a happy occasion, the reception and care we get when we do have to visit, is above and beyond! my babies are treated with great love and care. Everyone from receptionist, to techs, to Dr.s, we are always greeted warmly and with a smile.
