I had to bring my dog to a vet when my vet couldn’t see her for emergency, she had been pretty sick over a couple days and I needed to get her in. We had to put our dog down recently. We met with Dr. Katie Lee and warmed up to her right away. She is so gentle and sensitive. She accompanied us and supported us throughout the whole process. My cat, Tiger is 23 years old and they treat him like he is a kitten. He is a good cat and kind to all. He has a reoccurring cyst on his neck that needs to be drained. At Tigers age I do not want any heroic measures being taken place so as it fills with fluid i take him to have it drained and they only charge me a minimal fee. I did take him to another vets before going here and they charged me $400 for the same thing and sedated my cat with the statement that they cannot guarantee that he will come out of the sedation. Orleans Veterinary Hospital did not even venture to think to sedate Tiger mostly due to his age and they charge me $30 to drain this cyst. I posted this review over a year ago. Things have changed with my now 24 yr old cat. His cyst kept growing and I kept getting drained until it ruptured. I had them do the surgery on him (tearing me apart all day). He ended up riddled with infection and had to choose between surgery and euthanizing. I chose the surgery and very glad I did. He came through with flying colours and totally changed cat. If you can not put a price on your furballs then I highly suggest to use their services. He is 24 and going strong. Read Less

The most 1 star reviews of a vet in the east end.....wonder why that is, this place was once great then the little office grew into a corporate house of money with no care for animals just the massive profit numbers that come with slipping in extra costs and underhanded pricing. We've been struggling with our dogs ear for the past couple of years. She's had an ongoing ear infection that would just not go away. She's been put to sleep, had her ear drained out, was on several ear drop medications...ect...it would just not go away.I decided to give the Orleans Vet Hospital a try since they were advertising advanced technology on their website, and they were also semi-close by. The first consultation they were able to determine that she had an ongoing yeast infection in her ear, (awesome, at least we were able to determine what was going on!) She was prescribed 2 sets of antibiotics, ear cleaner, ear drops and we switched her dog food to a hypoallergenic brand sold in their boutique. I believe this visit set us back around $300.00 with everything included, but it was worth it!After two weeks of giving my dog treatments her ear was starting to clear up, we brought her back to the vet for a followup and it was confirmed that all was good in her ear, (Finally!!!!!!). Now, because shes had this ongoing ear infection, groomers wouldn't take her in as her ear was intimidating. I remember bringing her to Pet Smart, explaining the situation and they put up a huge stink about it. Shes a bichon-maltese, so she needs to get groomed quiet often, so for the past year I was stuck grooming her, but she did develop tons of mattes. Thankfully this vet hospital has a pet spa attached. They took her with no issues, and because they were attached to the vet, they knew her background as both the vet and spa shared access to each others files. I also felt super comfortable leaving my dog there. You know those horror stories you hear about at other grooming spa's? In the back of my mind I thought "we'll if something were to happen, at least they are attached to a vet!"  Let me tell you how amazing my matted dog looked when she was done! She's 9 years old and looks like a puppy again! They charged $65.00 for the full grooming session which is comparable to chains like Pet Smart, and tagged on an extra $5.00 fee because she was matted (its usually 10 depending of the severity of the mattes). I was super impressed, and it only took an hour and a half, compared to the usual 3 hours that I have to wait around at other grooming spa's. Seriously Yelpers, this is as good as it gets! Read Less

After mediocre care that our dogs have received at other veterinary establishments, my husband and I followed a recommendation and switched to Orleans Veterinary Hospital back in 2013. During last few years, Orleans Veterinary Hospital has provided our beloved pets with exceptional service. From minor natured visits to emergency surgery that our dog recently went through, our dealings with OVH have always left us with strong sense of confidence that our dogs are truly in best possible care. This was evident from the very first visit, when Dr. Streib educated us on health situation of our Boston Terrier, which was previously overlooked. With combined efforts of Dr. Streib€s and his colleagues, the life of our sweet Boston Terrier was extended. This review is overdue. However what finally led me to share, is our most recent experience with OVH, when our dog suffered severe wounds during an attack and required immediate surgery. From the moment our Boston Terrier was met at the door and was swept away into the arms of a caring staff member, once again she survived a surgery and was well taken care of, during recovery. We find our interactions with Dr. Als, Dr. Streib and his amazing team to be very professional, patient, caring and sincere. This review is long long overdue. I should have posted it 5 years ago. I used to go to this hospital until they caused my cat to get seriously ill by changing his food and then charging me the bill to pay for their mistake. They also blamed me because I had not been there in a while. They had no right to change my cat's food in the first place. It was a specific medical food that he needed to manage his condition, and when they told me they were changing it, I immediately asked if it would still manage his condition and I was told yes, but within a couple of months, my cat got seriously ill and almost died. I had to rush him in to get treated. It was a horrible and stressful experience. A careless mistake on their part. One in which they refused to take responsibility for. Have been taking my dog here since we moved to Ottawa last year. Had no issues at all, in fact, we loved the staff and service up until the other day. I called to make an appointment for my dog only to get a lady on the phone who was rude to me from the beginning. She gave me two separate prices over the phone for the appointment. One price for one certain service and another price for another. I told her I would like to book for just the ONE service. When I arrived to the appointment and my dog had already been seen, I then find out I am going to owe them for the two prices she quoted me on the phone. I asked her why she didn't give me one price if that's what it would end up being and she had no answers for me, was just simply nasty to me at the counter with other customers looking on. I believe her name is Sheryl..and thanks to her I am no longer going to be taking my dog to this vet clinic. She made me feel uncomfortable and she was extremely disrespectful and rude. The front of house staff and the boutique staff are very helpful and polite. The one vet I had the chance to meet was also very polite and had great bedside manner. Unfortunately as is almost always the case in Ottawa the vet decided that with a simple blood test my dog had cancer..... she recommended Kevin him in over night with IV fluids and other meds. The cost of doing that plus the Consult would have been about 2000$. Almost all my experience in Ottawa has been the same... scare tactics and if that fails they make you feel like a bad dog owner. I told her I would not do that as the dog would be happier with me overnight than in a cage and that he was not in any immediate danger as he had no symptoms. The cost of the Consult plus basic blood work and an injection for fluid and an antibiotic came to over 600$. The vet decided to treat it as pancreatitis even though she said it might be cancer too. I then went to see my vet in Montreal Dr Suzanne Marcil and as usual she was incredible.  First she could not believe that a vet would say that a dog may have cancer from a simple blood test. She took blood and ran the same tests as the vet back home and they allowed me to hold my dog whilst they took the blood. Whilst we waited she explained that if I wanted we could also do an xray to see if we see any signs of cancer. I agreed and she again let me hold him down whilst she too the xray and making me wear a special vest. She believes dogs are less traumatized by the visit if the owner is present. After all was said and done my dog was perfectly fine and she said it was probably a touch of pancreatitis and apologized for the unnecessary  cancer scare the other vet had put me through. She also corrected the diet that the previous doctor had prescribed stating that she had almost doubled the food allowed instead of reducing it drastically in pancreatic cases until the episode is resolved. When I left there my bill came to 300$ including taxes. I could not believe the difference in service and all the tests done for half of what I was charged. Even with the 30$ gas used to go to montreal it was still way cheaper and I felt like she truly cared about my little guy. I am not saying that the vet in Ottawa was rude or anything like that but I couldn't help but feel that it was over priced and also seriously misdiagnosed. Read Less

Dr Chandroo provided excellent care for my cat...not all bets are cat lovers and he definitely is. His checking in and with an his explanations of my cats medical needs were exceptional. A lot of people complain about Vet prices. Yes, they're expensive. Some commented that you can get better prices if you go outside the city. Possibly so. If all Ottawa vets are expensive, it doesn't make any sense to single out one veterinarian hospital as being bad because it is expensive, just live everyone else. I have used this hospital for about 10 years. They helped me in a dog rescue situation where the dog was near death. They went out of their way to help save this dog's life and they went out of their way to help keep the costs down as much as possible. One of the owners offered to rescue the dog himself if we thought the cost was too much. We opted to keep the dog and I'm thankful for that decision every single day. Buddy has turned out to be the most wonderful loving dog we've ever owned. My experience with this hospital is that the staff is excellent, caring and knowledgeable. They are expensive, but I don't believe they are more expensive than any other veterinarian hospital in the Ottawa area. In my opinion, you get what you pay for and what you get from these guys is excellent, caring service. Read Less

They provide exceptional service with your furry family members health at their top priority. They all go above and beyond every time!!
