I live on Ormond Drive, practically on Glovers Rd. It would make sense for our family to use this vet. However:
The 1st time I used this vet it was in December 2010, two weeks before Christmas and it was an emergency. Our dog was 3 mos old and She cut her back leg open so deep that there was a flap that could fold back or forth & the bone was showing. Upon walking in & acknowledging the emergency, we were told to sit and wait. While my 12 year old son sat and held our new puppy as she bled profusely, I was required to sign a "new patient form". When I complained that my puppy was in agony and was losing too much blood the receptionist ushered us into a room. Meanwhile, 5 minutes later I came out to complain about the length of time this was taking considering the urgency and the fact that there were no other patients in the office. The vet was sitting at his computer proceeding to do an estimate - WITHOUT having seen our dog yet. While standing at the front desk I overheard the vet say to the receptionist "make sure she can pay for this before we start anything". Thus, I was required to fork over all funds BEFORE he fixed our new puppy.
The second time I saw this vet (May 2014) my other dog got a stick lodged sideways in her throat , her neck swelled and she wasn't breathing so we rushed her over immediately. We walked into the office and as I explained the situation I was again asked to fill out a "new patient form". I was pretty clear relaying the fact that my dog was struggling to breath, I said it nicely about 3 times. After I filled out the form and waited another minute or two, I started to get a little loud considering that my emergency was clearly not on their priority list and my dog was still struggling to breath, although it was apparent that somehow she was taking in some breath now. It wasn't until I started to raise my voice that they started to move faster and by then, thankfully my dog had some how dislodged the stick on her own. After realizing that my dog was going to be okay, I asked the vet to look at her ear - considering I'm being charged for an examination any how and our emergency was over , I figured why not, if it was my normal vet (Brimley & Lawrence) they would have said no problem. This vet however, didn't. I believe his words were "sure, make an appointment". He also wanted me to make a separate appointment for an ulcer in her mouth. So, unless I'm somehow mistaken it is my understanding that this vet wants to bill for every single service, separately. Each examination after taxes is about $70(ish).
Both of my experiences with this vet were negative. We're not going back for any reason. Both visits all they seem to care about is getting paid and the animals seem secondary. This vet is strictly business.
