I took my bunny pet for over 4 years to this location and the staff was NOT there when I needed them the most. I came to them for the first time after having researched for a vet that specialized in "exotic animals," as most vets in Ottawa do not take in pets such as rabbits and considered them to be exotic. At the time, the staff confirmed that taking my bunny to their location was OK as they did take bunnies in. Fast forward to a few days ago (April 23rd, 2018), I called them in to book an appointment for my bunny who was not feeling well at all and needed to be seen immediately. She was experiencing seizure -like episodes and partial paralysis of her hind legs . When I called and described the symptoms, the person on the phone communicated that they could not see my bunny and later said that "the vet did not feel confident taking your bunny at this time." For those of you reading this review and with a pet at home, this is certainly NOT what you expect to hear from the only people who you trusted with your pet's health and well being. I think these people should have been honest since day one! If they do not feel"confident" seeing exotic animals, then do NOT ADVERTISE otherwise. In my case, my bunny pet did not make it. However, it would have been so much more bearable if the people I trusted at the beginning (Bank Street Animal Hospital) had been HONEST about their expertise level since day one. Read Less

Great experience with the Bank Street Animal Hospital. We brought our 7 year old cat in because he was having trouble urinating. Dr. Parker was very knowledgeable, explained all possible scenarios to us patiently, and walked us through the next steps. When we were finally able to bring our cat home, we got daily phone calls from Dr. Parker and the staff to ask how he was doing and to answer any questions or concerns. The staff are rude. The vets do not care about the animals. They need to be either shut down or new managment. Your supposed to care about your costumers. Dog and owner. These people do not. They over chagred me by 250$ and then had three people come to the front desk to belittle me and put me down ans tell me they dont care what i was told previously they want all my cash or i cant have MY DOGS? After doing quite a bit of research (location, affordability, business hours, medical equipment on site and reviews, etc), I have chosen the Bank Street Animal Hospital for the care of my two felines (Valerie and Coal (incidentally Coal is originally from the Parliament Hill Cat Sanctuary). I have been extremely satisfied with the services from the doctors and animal technicians and staff and whole heartedly recommend this excellent animal hospital. Dr. Karman best vet EVER. hands down. If u do not get him upon your arrival leave. The woman gave my dogs medication i refused (she said he was in pain and he was anxious) and charged us for it. After that she was very snippy and not very nice with my dog. Thankfully dr.Karman fixed everything. Ive had the woman several times im not basing this of one experience and overtime she always costs us a lot of useless money and is very rude and never listens. Do not recommend her for anyone! dr. I love this vet clinic! The technicians are very friendly and knowledgeable and always make me feel welcomed. The veterinarians are kind and understanding, always willing to go the extra mile for patient care. They offer so much, including behaviour consultations nutritional advice and exotic pet care. They always give me a call a couple days after my appointments just to see how my pet is doing, which is just nice and I really appreciate it. really unhappy with their service. Needed to do a free catch urine test for my poppy, called and told them but they forced us to go for a visit to charge 75 dollars for that. Of course Doctor couldn't see the infection so his suggestion was to give my poppy anti biotec without any test, now I am wondering why even bother to go for the visit! Also he told us if we want to run the test they should trim her for the test, Trim! So my husband Agreed and you think it is around the pee area but my long haired beautiful poodle came out shaved to skin up to her ass and around her back legs! She looks like a monkey from behind... She still has beautiful baby hair which l never cut and is almost 5 inches long and they shaved her whole back for a pee test without telling me it is a Shave not a trim! When it comes to service and it is your dog and you are paying 150 dollars to run a simple pee test, they should understand they cant mess it up like this. Maybe they see lots of dogs everyday and maybe for some owners shaving is not important, but for some like me it is and also makes me wonder how could I trust these peple to do any operations or other procedures on my dog if they are careless about their customers like this I took my dog there since 5 weeks old but I am going to call and ask for my 150 dollars back and dont want them to do any work for my dog. A couple of months ago I brought my cat Arsenal to this vet after noticing that he was straining to urinate. He was partially blocked, but was able to produce urine. The vet came into the exam room and stated that the tech was unable to express Arsenal's bladder during her initial assessment. I informed him that she did not attempt to express his bladder (nor did he). Upon exam, he created a false sense of urgency by telling me that my cat's bladder was "very large" and was insistent on an extremely expensive procedure with many unnecessary charges tacked on. Having previously worked at a vet prior to moving here, I had seen many blocked cats treated and knew what the approximate cost should be. This quote was double that. I declined the procedure and felt very judged by the tech for not going through with it. Instead I asked for meds to keep him comfortable and sought a second opinion right away. My new vet laughed at the quote I received. After examining him, they told me that his bladder was not full and that we had time to try a few things before jumping right into an incredibly invasive procedure. We tried a combination of pain medication, muscle relaxants and a new urinary diet. This worked perfectly and my cat's urine output is back to normal. I understand that veterinary care is expensive and had I not felt I was being taken advantage of, I would have paid whatever was necessary for my cat to feel better. Wow, unbelievable! Great staff and great service. Both Jessie and Dr. Jay were extremely helpful with our cat Layla. They were able to diagnose her issues and explain to us exactly what was going on and instruct us on how to tend to our cat's infection. Our bill was also a LOT less than we had anticipated. Furthermore, Jessie made a follow-up call not even a week after our appointment to see how Layla's treatment was going. A+ service, would recommend to anyone in the Ottawa area! Read Less

I'm so disappointed. The only reason I decided to try this vet is because they advertised a good price on a dental cleaning for my cat. They said they would sit down and tell me all the costs so there weren't any surprises. At the actual cleaning there were new charges that were never discussed. Just thought I'd give Bank Street Animal Hospital a bit of praise after visiting them... As always, the staff and doctors are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, they treat my scared husky Phoenix as if she was their own. Everyone is compassionate to her needs and do their best to comfort her so that her experience is like she's at the spa, even though she's getting poke with needles or having her nails trimmed. Any and all questions and/or concern I have towards Phoenix petrified behaviour was answered professionally with many helpful suggestions and references. I can't say enough good things about Bank Street Animal Hospital! My dog has had a few health issues and concerns and each and every time I have been treated with so well. Most importantly, my dog is well cared for! I trust them 100% with my dog's care. We had been to another vet when he was first a puppy, with terrible experience.
