Three cats (one lived to 21 years old) over the years have been under the care of the awesome staff of Bytown Cat Hospital, the first one the day they opened many years ago. The staff is so caring and professional. My latest experience with all the staff, vets, vet technicians to the very helpful women working the front desk, with an abandoned cat that was near death when we found her a month ago has been nothing but stellar. If she is now on the road to recovery to good health and a very affectionate cat, it is due to the tremendous care from Bytown. I can't thank them enough and recommend them highly to any cat lover. I've been bringing my cats to Bytown Cat Hospital since 2010 and would not go anywhere else! Going to the vet is usually a stressful experience for my cats, so it's great that I can bring them to a cat-only clinic where there aren't any dogs to frighten them further. The support staff are friendly and very helpful, especially Erin. All the veterinarians are fantastic and clearly care about their feline patients' well-being! My cats' usual vet is Dr. Sylvie Nicholson, who is very gentle with them and always takes the time to answer my questions. In addition to vet care, Bytown Cat Hospital has a great boarding facility. I have complete trust and peace of mind that they take good care of my cats while I'm away! Thank you! Read Less

In our experiences with this cat hospital I felt completely taken advantage of!!!! Being a first time cat owner, I expected a little more honesty from the employees working there. In our first of two visits in one week, we paid an examination fee, which supposedly included a third vaccination that my kitten needed. We waited on getting her the vaccine upon the vets recommendations due to insurance because we had not activated her insurance yet, and since there was some unusual spotting in her skin that the vet said could potentially be ring worm, we wanted to search if something were to actually be wrong with her we would be covered. On our second (and finally visit at this cat hospital) we went into the examination office, got her vaccine and proceeded to the exit. On exiting the vet tells us that we will we receiving 35% off.... I was confused as to what she meant by this since we had already technically paid for her vaccine in the first visit. APPARENTLY since we made a second appointment THAT counted as a second examination (which they charge 100 dollars for). I was so frustrated and upset that the doctor nor the employees had the integrity to tell us that upon making a second appointment for the vaccination it was classified under another examination EVEN THOUGH we were there two days earlier. The doctor NOT ONCE mentioned to us that we were going to be charged another 100 dollars if we did not give her the vaccine on the first visit! I have never felt so scammed out of my money, it was not correct of them to completely take advantage of new cat owners like that by not informing us of this on the first visit. Very sad bc the staff was very friendly, great atmosphere, and the vet was very engaging and warm. HOWEVER after this, I feel as if I can no longer trust them to say things straight and instead hide details such as this from us in order to get more money out of a visit. VERY DISAPPOINTED!Read Less

My beautiful cat was taken into this surgery by my mother for a routine nail clipping. This was her first visit to the surgery. She was traumatized so badly by the failings of the vet that she peed herself and spent the night at home in a stupor. I usually cut my cats nails. She makes a lot of noise but is gentle and let's you do it. My mother was so upset by the noise she could hear coming from the back room and then the silence she was crying. The vet came out the back walked straight past my mother without acknowledgement or telling her what was happening and went into another room. The nurses pulled my mum to the side and told her my cat was in a traumatized state and the vet couldn't trim her nails. But low and behold the nurses did it without any problems. My sweet and gentle cat was put in a cone and held down so hard she peed herself. This is a complete disgrace. My cat is a rescue. She has had enough trauma in her life without a vet hurting and traumatizing her more over clipping her nails which she has done monthly. We will not be returning. I suggest others think twice before using this surgery.Read Less
