They offer a fast service but every time I come I feel as if I'm over charged and they have made mistakes with 2 of my dogs now. They miss calculated by a lot how much food I should give my puppy which caused me to underfeed her for 3 days and high calorie consumption is essential for puppies. The staff at Centretown Veterinary Hospital are absolutely the best. They gave my Tyson the best care over the years. Sadly he passed on March 16th and they were so compassionate and kind when I had to say my goodbyes to him. The card and flowers I received were beautiful and meant a lot to me. Read Less

The first time I was here, we got a great vet and were happy with the services we received.. Sadly, the second time was absolutely horrible! (So much so that we won't be going back here and would actually recommend against them if you have a puppy or kitten and need the initial vaccinations- elsewhere will charge you far less & still be happy for your business.) They gave us a totally different vet the second time and as I've never had to ask to get the same vet again from a place, I didn't even think to-- the second vet we got seemed more interested in billing as much as possible. The other beyond strange bit it how ridiculously expensive they are.. If you have a new puppy or kitten, I would highly suggest going elsewhere as they're the only place I've been to who actually charge an exam fee every visit, even when you're just going in for the rest of your pet's booster shots. ($70-$100 a month ON TOP of shots and deworming medications once a month for 4 months? Others only charge the shots after the initial exam, as they're already marked up.) On the bill they put that we got a "good clients discount".. I was absolutely disgusted as people don't get this ripped off elsewhere, let alone have people claim their overcharging has actually been discounted. This is the only place I've been to that does that kind of overcharging to new pet owners.. but at least now I know why it's so easy to get a last minute/next day appointment here. Read Less

We adopted a wonderful cat named Charlie and he is a fussy cat so when we came in with one of his many health problems this clinic was happy to help and they are very reasonably priced. It is a clean vet and the staff are extremely helpful. They never seem angry when our cat gets fiesty with them and they always treat Charlie well. We recently went to get Charlie a haircut for the summer and they did a great job and Charlie wasn't that upset after which is great. We love this vet and it's in a great location! Thanks guys! This place is worse than a Doctor's office. You will wait and wait and wait, then Dr BLACK comes in all rushed and no apology given. The front desk clerk EVE is the rudest pitbull and for the life of me I cannot understand why she is the first line in the clinic. The "office manager" is as sympathetic as the rock in my front yard. However, saying that, I absolutely loved Dr Tamara Richards and Nancy at the front desk (hence the reason for a two star) It is a shame I have to take my dog elsewhere because of their unprofessional attitutes and rudeness. Been to a couple vets in the city, and landed at Centretown Vet a few years ago as they were closest to my home and had good reviews. They have been excellent in caring for my two cats - Cosmos and Eddie. Both of which are old boys and needing more care in their senior years. They are all very attentive, and very caring. I very much appreciate that the vets spend time to call me personally on follow ups, and they always give me the time I need for all my questions. Yes vets are expensive... but these guys are pretty reasonably priced (compared around the city), and they are transparent about costs beforehand so you can make an informed decision. Centertown Vet is hands down the best clinic in Ottawa!! This is our third vet in the city and they are amazing- we will never go anywhere else. The staff is knowledgeable and caring. These vets care about you and your furry friends first, thier bottom line second. Prices are absolutely compeditive!!! The Drs here discuss every detail and options with you and when there is an ongoing problem, follow ups by phone. The service here is hard to beat! Highly recommend this clinic!! Read Less

My kitty went in there for a regular check up and left with high anxiety. She got even worse as the visit progressed and they did not handle it well (I even had an anxiety attack!) My cat has seen a few vets in her day(she's 8 years old) and has never been so terrified. My heart broke for her. I was so glad to leave. I have never seen a vet or vet techs treat a scared animal so poorly. We are new to Ottawa and will not be returning to this place. Read Less

A great experience all around. First off, we needed a last minute appointment and turned to Yelp. Centretown had good reviews and they were able to fit us in at the end of the day, which was very much appreciated. When I got there the front desk was super efficient and I was almost immediately whisked to see the vet. The vet was top notch, very proficient and breezed through everything. Amazing Vet clinic! They are thorough and caring, they have treated my adult cat and a kitten very efficiently and you can tell they care about what's going on. I'm really glad I found this vet clinic on moving to ottawa, i wouldn't take my cats anywhere else. The prices are competitive - in response to other reviews i've seen about prices being "misleading" the prices are very fair. You need to pay for the vet's time - they are a professional! I am very impressed with Centretown so far!! Appointments are available on a fairly short/flexible basis. Staff is friendly. The vet I saw (Dr. Penny Waite) is attentive and clearly cares about the animals she sees. She is the first vet to bother trying to treat my cat's herpes-related upper respiratory issue. She called me at 9:30pm after my visit with blood and urine test results, and answered a follow up question by email as well. The prices are fair and in line with what I've seen at other vets.I kind of stumbled upon this clinic because I live a couple blocks away from it. I am so glad I did. Read Less

Came here for an emergency with my tiny 10 week old kitten.  Staff are great and very accommodating.  They shuffled things around so that we could come in last minute (twice in one day), which was incredible.  We saw Dr. Penny Waite which was so good with our kitten.  I've never gotten so much time and attention from a vet.  She was extremely patient, spent a lot of time talking to us and examining our little one.  The best part was the follow up after the visit where they checked up on us two or three times by phone.  Highly recommended! Yesterday was my kitten's first appointment at the vet - his name is Arthur. We arrived early and were both (!) greeted upon entering. I'm assuming this is the norm, as to work at a vet you need to be an animal lover. Regardless I thought it was sweet.While waiting I noticed that they have two huge cats strolling around, the clinic cats. They were very calm and didn't disturb Arthur, who was surprisingly calm also, after being outside in the carrier for the first time ever.About 15 minutes before the vet was ready to see him we were brought into the examination room by the receptionist. Arthur came out of the carrier and snuffled around for a bit then we popped him on the scales to see his weight (0.75 kg - so tiny). In the back of the examination room there were glass doors on the left and the right. These led into other examination rooms - Arthur kept peeking in on Douglas the dog who was getting some vaccinations. It was nice to have glass doors vs. solid wood doors, it made the whole visit feel less scary for Arthur I think. The vet was wonderful, she was very gentle and loving towards Arthur and sat down on the ground so that she was at his level. We gave him his first pill for de-worming, his first vaccination - with the assistant there to hold him and me there to distract (he was very brave), and I was shown how to clip his nails. The  vet gave me a lot of really useful information and asked a lot of questions about Arthur's behaviour, diet, etc. I received a big information package before leaving, and Arthur got lots of praise and cuddles for being such a good boy.The receptionists were wonderful once again on the way out, and I couldn't have left feeling more satisfied. We will be going back in 4 weeks for his next vaccinations. I have no doubt as to whether or not this will be my primary veterinarian, they are fantastic. Read Less
