General Info
At Merivale Cat Hospital, we see only cats, which means there are no barking or curious dogs in the waiting room who can upset your cats! This is a cats-only veterinary hospital, dedicated to the health and well-being of all creatures feline. The Merivale Cat Hospital is now in its 25th year and was started by Dr Doug Boeckh. Dr Glenys Hughes and Dr Emma Thom also make up the team who will look after your special feline friends.
Our veterinary and technical staff have experience with treating a wide range of cat personalities, from the very nervous to the very grouchy cat. We are equipped with an in-house laboratory, X-ray machine, full anesthetic and surgical suite and dental facilities. Ultrasonography and endoscopy can be arranged if needed.

I absolutely love MCH. The staff are warm, friendly and knowledgeable, and always willing to help in any way they can. Misty, my cat, loves the large size of the examination room, as it gives her a chance to explore. She is also a lot calmer because there are no dogs around. The dogs were an issue at our last vet. Our vet at MHC, Glenys Hughes, is incredibly patient and kind. She is always willing to answer any and all questions and has even reached out to me via email to ma...ke sure Misty is still doing well! Meredith, the MCH resident cat, is also a joy. I love seeing Meredith when I pick up prescriptions for Misty, and I love seeing photos of Meredith on FB. It is superb that the staff have trained Meredith to be able to brush her teeth, since it helps to have a demonstration on a real live cat! See More

The vets at the Merivale Cat Hospital are second to none. My cats have been patients there for many, many years, and they have always received excellent care. I love that the clinic is cat-centric, and the vets know their stuff! Dr. Hughes has been the primary vet for my cats for well over a decade, and I appreciate that she explains things in a very straight-forward manner, using non-medical or technical terms. The staff at the clinic are great, and my cats have always been greeted like they're the best cats ever to visit. I'd recommend this vet clinic in a heartbeat!

The staff are fantastic, right from when you walk in the door, they're fawning over the cat, which, is important to all fur baby owners. They are really knowledgeable and they take the time to really talk to you about what is going on. I've gone through many different vets trying to find a good one. There is no doubt I'll be going back there from now on and will be recommending everyone I know who has cats to go there!

Our vet Sat with us and comforted us through our very hard decisions the while time we were there. Comforted us. Not pitched to us.
Extremely happy. You can immediately tell they care about your cats, they remember the cats more than they remember the owner, very cute.

We've seen a lot of vets recently due to some complex litterbox issues with our 9 year old orange tabby, and while we have only seen her once, Dr. Thom has proven to be one of the most extremely caring and thorough vets who I am certain truly cares about getting to the bottom of our issues. She has followed up post-visits (even when we don't see her) via thoughtful emails that she took the time to write on her own time, and obviously didn't charge us for this extra advice. The clinic was always able to fit us in quickly when we needed it, and was responsive whenever we called. Thanks.

I have been using Merivale Cat Hospital for almost 20'years and I would not trust anyone else to care for my cats. I have two who had very difficult medicalIssues and the entire staff was always there - first caring for my cats and then helping me. I had to put one of my cats to sleep yesterday and they all recognized how difficult it was for me. Glenys Hughes and all the team are the most caring and compassionate people I know and I would highly recommend them

Absolutely amazing!!! We specifically asked for Dr. Hughes to help us figure out ways to make our two boys stop fighting as they were going at it daily. We left confident that positive things were to come and it's been great! It's been 2 weeks now and not a single fight! We will be going to MCH from now on for all 4 of our kiddens. What a wonderful place! I took my kitties there for their first visit and vaccinations and couldn't believe the welcome they received from the staff. It was a long drive from Kanata, but was well worth it. As stressful as the drive was to the kitties (crying, drooling, etc), the way they were treated by the staff and Dr Lowe made up for it! My kittens left the hospital calm and were 100% better during the drive back home. I loved the welcome and attention they received from the staff when they arrived all scared and worried, and the gentle and very skilled handling by Dr Lowe during the examination and treatment administration. We were not rushed, kitties were given time to calm down before any examinations took place, and all my questions were answered and worries were put to rest. I'm coming back and can't imagine going anywhere else.

A week ago I had to put down my pet cat (on Wednesday). The vet asked if I want a memorial paw print and some of his fur on a card. I hesitated but said sure. The little memorial was supposed to be ready in two days (on Friday). I waited a whole week and went in today. The one assistant looked through the stack of cards and couldn't find it. Then they searched every file area in the public area, file folders, etc. and finally they check their computer. After twenty minutes they produced a cheap messy print on a card with fur in a little baggie that didn't have stripes in it like my cat did (orange on orange). I feel insulted. I believe that they forgot/ or didn't bother last week and just used someone else's deceased cat to pull one over on me. There was no personal message on the card either, just the printed phrase on front. Eight years ago I received a memorial card from a different vet when I had my dog put down and she signed it personally with a lovely handwritten sentiment inside, address to me about the loss of my friend and the vet even used my dog's name. WOW, what a difference a little thing like this situation can make on how someone feels about a vet.

I love that the clinic is cat-centric, and the vets know their stuff! They're always giving away samples of things to us, giving us info sheets, offering to email us detailed information. They take such great care of our cats that I can't imagine going anywhere else, even if it is a little out of our way.

I have been using Merivale Cat Hospital for almost 20'years and I would not trust anyone else to care for my cats. I have two who had very difficult medicalIssues and the entire staff was always there - first caring for my cats and then helping me. I had to put one of my cats to sleep yesterday and they all recognized how difficult it was for me. Glenys Hughes and all the team are the most caring and compassionate people I know and I would highly recommend them

Absolutely amazing!!! We specifically asked for Dr. Hughes to help us figure out ways to make our two boys stop fighting as they were going at it daily. We left confident that positive things were to come and it's been great! It's been 2 weeks now and not a single fight! We will be going to MCH from now on for all 4 of our kiddens. Couldn't ask for better service and care. Thank you for making our home calm again. You're all amazing!!

I recommend MCH to everyone I know with feline family members! Everyone there is compassionate and polite and you can really tell they take their commitment to provide your animals excellent care seriously. I've had appointments with both Dr. Green and Dr. Hughes and they are absolutely wonderful!

Disorganised staff who can't seem to get their patients' schedules straight -- who's in for which day, etc. Staff sounds uncertain and confused on the phone, and there seems to be a great miscommunication between employees. Upon visiting, staff are distracted and unattentive.

What a wonderful place! I took my kitties there for their first visit and vaccinations and couldn't believe the welcome they received from the staff. It was a long drive from Kanata, but was well worth it. As stressful as the drive was to the kitties (crying, drooling, etc), the way they were treated by the staff and Dr Lowe made up for it! My kittens left the hospital calm and were 100% better during the drive back home. I loved the welcome and attention they received from the staff when they arrived all scared and worried, and the gentle and very skilled handling by Dr Lowe during the examination and treatment administration. We were not rushed, kitties were given time to calm down before any examinations took place, and all my questions were answered and worries were put to rest. I'm coming back and can't imagine going anywhere else.

A week ago I had to put down my pet cat (on Wednesday). The vet asked if I want a memorial paw print and some of his fur on a card. I hesitated but said sure. The little memorial was supposed to be re...
A week ago I had to put down my pet cat (on Wednesday). The vet asked if I want a memorial paw print and some of his fur on a card. I hesitated but said sure. The little memorial was supposed to be ready in two days (on Friday). I waited a whole week and went in today. The one assistant looked through the stack of cards and couldn't find it. Then they searched every file area in the public area, file folders, etc. and finally they check their computer. After twenty minutes they produced a cheap messy print on a card with fur in a little baggie that didn't have stripes in it like my cat did (orange on orange). I feel insulted. I believe that they forgot/ or didn't bother last week and just used someone else's deceased cat to pull one over on me. There was no personal message on the card either, just the printed phrase on front. Eight years ago I received a memorial card from a different vet when I had my dog put down and she signed it personally with a lovely handwritten sentiment inside, address to me about the loss of my friend and the vet even used my dog's name. WOW, what a difference a little thing like this situation can make on how someone feels about a vet.

A week ago I had to put down my pet cat (on Wednesday). The vet asked if I want a memorial paw print and some of his fur on a card. I hesitated but said sure.
