We have been dealing with Prince of Wales Animal hospital for about 3 years now. We initially just had our dog going there. We switched our cat to this vet after the spring from H-E- double hockey sticks. We thought that our dog may have gotten into something REALLY bad at the cottage. They saw her immediately when we called. They only did the tests needed for what we suspected she had gotten into. They didn't do anything unnecessary for the situation. Everything with that turned out fine (thank God!). Wouldn't you know it, the very next week, our cat started showing urinary issues. Having dealt with urinary blockages in the past with another cat, we were understandably very scared. We called the cat's regular vet, but because they were close to closing, they suggested taking him to an emergency vet ($300 just to walk in the door. We have been there before!). We decided to call the dog's vet (Prince of Wales Animal Hospital), and they said to bring him right in! Not only did they stay open late to see him, but they definitely tried to keep costs under control for us knowing that our dog had just cost us money the week before. The vet really listened to us, and handled him the way he likes to be handled. They don't use the "what's good handling for one animal is good for all" mentality. They do the same with our dog. She is extremely anxious getting her nails clipped, so when they take her to do them, the vet has her under one arm, and a giant treat jar under the other. Yes, they may cost a bit more than other vet clinics, but you get what you pay for, and they will only do what's necessary. Other vets may be cheaper for yearly check ups, but in an emergency will shake you down for any and every test that could possibly pertain to the situation. We will be moving soon, and switching to their sister clinic, but I have full faith that their sister clinic will be the same. If not, we will drive the extra distance to go back to Prince of Wales.
