I just had my first experience at this office today and I am so happy that I did! Friendly staff, Dr. Allison was great with my cat and was very helpful in making sure that I understood her diagnosis and prescription information. Incompetent. The vet misdiagnosed my dog several times within three days. Charged me full price for an ultrasound, which by the way the vet said she found two gallbladders and no pancreas. I could go on for forever and a day but I won't. Please take your pet anywhere else but here. Read Less

I've been to a lot of vets in Ottawa over the years, and many are only interested in tugging on your heartstrings so they can rip you off with unnecessary tests and procedures. That's not the case with St. Laurent Animal Hospital. I would recommend Dr. Kral to anyone looking for honest, quality care for their pet. Read Less

Great veterinary clinic! The staff is very friendly, they treat animals with care and attention. They answer all questions in details. The prices are acceptable, it's not a bargain but it's not exaggerated either. I just wish this place had a website or email so we could book appointments electronically. It would be amazing! I called in advance and got their answering machine.. Figured they were busy. I listen to the entire message to make sure they were open. But when I went there, the ONLY vet wasn't in.. The secretary referred me to a different animal clinic. Huge waste of my time, so take note: the vet leaves at 12 on Tuesdays, even though they are open till 4.Read Less

I called about euthanizing our family cat. I was told that there would be a $60 exam fee despite the fact that the cat was 16yrs old and clearly dying. The total fee for euthanasia was $268. I ended up taking the poor sick cat to the Ottawa Humane Society where i received more compassion and a much more affordable euthanasia fee of $75.Read Less

I went in after our 7 yr old dog was spayed 4 weeks prior, to have the incision checked as there were a lot of bumps and could feel the end of the internal stitch (it was picky to the touch)... she was also not feeling well so the tech was wonderful to do a high level check right in the waiting room. They were not busy at all, only one other client.I was satisfied with the recommendations that the tech gave (you can tell her heart is in the right place) and said I would wait another day but then the Vet asked about her and said let's have a look at her... she did not ask so I thought she was offering just to quickly check. Next thing you know she is doing a 'full' (not much really to it) exam and they are charging me $42 when I went to leave, after spending almost $600 for the surgery. The office manager said ok no charge with a look of attitude on her face. Very unprofessional. Worse thing is the vet said well I wasn't sure if I should charge. This treatment makes me not want to go back after receiving service like that.The vet also tried to encourage a shot as a pain killer (yet couldn't find anything wrong with her) or had suggested an oral pain killer. Way to rack in the money. I had kept telling her I was just going to wait to see how she is the next day but they are more focused on pushing a client into doing all these checks and balances... vets are a rip off. No wonder so many people lose their pets (by waiting too long) for fear of going in for every little thing and being charged... there is no courtesy or heart to do the right thing. They think with their pocket first.My mechanic is more gracious to give advice knowing I am a client who will go back (in great contribution to his willingness to assist without charging like a lawyer would by the minute, for every little thing)...
