While we were at our cottage our beautiful 13 year old Labrador Retriever, Beretta fell very ill and we needed help. With support and understanding from the staff, my husband and I made that difficult decision. They were so accommodating for me and made Beretta’s final hours as comfortable as possible. I was given all the time I needed before the process took place and after I left feeling much comforted. Although this was a very sad day for our family we are grateful for the care and support we received from this clinic. Thank you to the staff for your help that day. Read Less

I contacted them by phone because thunder had 45 ABC fitting stuck in his mouth. I contacted pembrooke Animal Hospital to bring thunder since it was an emergency. I was refused service because I did not have a vetenarian in the hospital. I asked the female on the phone if I should watch him die and she answered sorry can not help. my husband was able to take it out after an hour. why do they call themselves an animal hospital since they are willing to see my dog die and do nothing. all this occurred in August of 2017. i had a really bad experience with my cat tiger at the time who is not with us anymore because of it, the staff we met before the head vet was very caring but the vet himself was too blunt where he seems cold and impatience. saying there is nothing that could be done there was a tumor so huge but cant be point out on the xray, he might have cancer, saying there is no medication for to get better basically no hope just put him down like can i do so easily ... i couldn't even he told me everything of worst news. so i paid 336.00$ for one xray and to get the fluid out of his lungs which was orange-red colored just to have him for a few more days but suddenly i get call in the morning after from a kind caring sounded female vet of the day shift saying there is medication all of a sudden and she wanted to see him but it will cost me more for that and with a low end paying job where i couldnt afford large bills i had to refuse but i have. the impression that someone is lying to me greatly that my cat could of been saved he was only 13 turning 14 years old he could of had more years with us he didnt looked his age but instead he died in the morning around 7:00am 5 days after by my side. i still take it out on myself but there is nothing that can be done about it now. The day I moved to the area my dog started to show signs of having a parasite. I called the closest vet and they were rude and suggested that I could take them to Ottawa. I asked if there was another vet and I could hear the eye rolling when they told me to call Pembroke. My dog was in the next day and the service was fantastic. She happened tp have conjunctivitis and an ear infection too, all caught by the vet. As embarrassing as it was to have a dog with all these issues that I missed while we were moving, they were very helpful and non-judgemental. They are quick to offer advice and completely respect an owners knowledge of their pet and how they have presented in the past. Since then they have been excellent at scheduling at either their main office or one of their wellness centres. And in a couple cases I have been able to get probiotics or other wellness products without having to come in for an exam because they know my dog and her history. Hands down the best veterinarian; I trust them with my dogs' lives. Read Less

Today I went to PAH for the first time to have my 18 year old beagle looked at for a cough. Dr. Simms was the one who saw us and she was amazing! She listened to all my concerns and answered them with full honesty. After looking at xrays it was determined Abbey had a large mass on her heart, from there Dr.Simms talked with me about my options and together we came to the conclusion that Abbey would be best to come home with me and live out the rest of her days as the happy chunky old girl she is. I was so impressed with Dr.Simms' compassion for not only the animals, but for the owners like me who don't always get the news we were hoping for! My recent experience with PAH was very frustrating and disheartening. I brought in our beloved 16 year old cat who passed peacefully at home, because our 9 year old was away visiting grandparents we requested cremation with return of ashes so she could have some closure on her return. The woman who helped me when I dropped him off was lovely and compassionate. She told me it should take about 3 days or so. After 5 days I called to check up and was told he wasn't ready yet and I'd get a call. After an additional 5 days I called again, this time I felt somewhat brushed off and was just told that if I hadn't been called he wasn't ready and I should wait for a call. That was August 17th. I was out of town Aug 25th to Sept 5th and no call was received. I called September 7th and was advised that the person running the cremation centre was in an accident and the new person would check on him and call me. On September 9th I went into the hospital in person and asked for a manager to speak with, after explaining the situation, the lovely young woman at reception went into the back and came out with my cat's remains and an envelope. She explained that they had taken my phone number incorrectly so when they tried to call me they got a wrong number. I was very appreciative of her help but still wanted to speak to someone, however the manager was on a call so she took my number correctly and agreed to have someone call me. When I got home and opened the envelope I received, the certificate stated my cat had been cremated August 20th, so he had been ready to come home for two weeks at that point. I called again on September 13th and was advised the manager had left early for personal reasons and they would leave a note for her to call me. At this time, I have yet to speak to anyone other than the reception desk at PAH and I am very sad and frustrated. My daughter is struggling with the loss of her lifelong pet and not even having his remains in our possession when she returned home was difficult. We paid a substantial fee for this service and feel like this experience only added to the grief and frustration of our loss.Read Less

I had a positive experience with pembroke animal Hospital but this last experience turned me right off. I had an emergency with my rabbit. After calling them to try to get him in asap, the vet was on break and I was told I would get a call back. After 2 hours of waiting I did not receive a call back so I called them. I was then told that "oh ya the vet got back to me and she can't see him until Monday". After calling every possible animal Hospital from deep river to arnprior and finding out Ottawa was my only option. I called pembroke back begging to get him seen or at least give me some pain meds, only to be told no sorry. I even told them I would pay for an emergency visit, still no. So I took him to Bells Corner Animal Hospital (amazing place!) where we found out he was in horrible amounts of pain and had to be put down :( I called pembroke animal Hospital to cancel my appointment for Monday and after telling them I needed to cancel my appointment because i had to put my rabbit down, they said "ok thanks for calling", not even an "I'm sorry". I found that very insensitive. A part of my family died and I felt that was very unprofessional. Very unhappy with this whole interaction. It's disappointing.Read Less
