We have been going to SH for more than 8 years, to have our lovely standard poodle Vivo taken care of. This past week has been a nightmare for him (and us) as he swallowed a big sock and had to have it removed surgically. The vets and staff at SH are wonderful - caring, knowledgeable and supportive. I only have the most amazing things to say about Sherbrooke Heights! Between being able to fit in my lop eared rabbit with short notice, putting him in a room right away to keep him calm, and having the friendliest staff imaginable, my rabbit is able to have a calm and positive experience every time. I dont know what these people are referring to when they talk about "knowledgeable" "caring" staff???. I went in to find out information about spaying my cat who had recently had her first litter of three kittens. I asked how soon after giving birth could she be spayed? Neither of the 2 women at the counter were able to answer. They had to wait until a younger girl came out and ask her. She had an answer but seemed unsure. Saying "it should be ok now?" When I asked "what if she got in for the Op and they found that she was already pregnant again? Neither could answer. Again the younger one came out and said they could abort the kittens while operating but would be a significant price increase. I was then handed quote on paper for $678!!! When she saw my reaction to the cost she proceeded to try and talk me into putting my cat down or taking her and her kittens to the humane society where im sure they would eventually be put down as well. CARING??????? not in the least. All this place cares about is money. not animal warfare. My friend also took his dog in who desperatly needed an operation to survive. They wanted thousands of dollars and would not even offer any type of payment plan to manage the bill. They also tried to convince him to kill his dog to save money. CARING???? his dog got the operation at another hospital for a few hundred dollars made in monthly payments. His pet has been living a happy healthy life ever since. Myself I got my cat spayed and all vaccines and pain meds etc at High st animal hospital for $230. EXTREMELY caring staff there who cuddled my pet and even took photos and put them on their web site. Had straight definitive answers for all my questions with supporting facts. They even were able (sadly) to abort the new kittens she was pregnant with at NO charge as she was barely 1 week pregnant. THERE IS NOTHING CARING ABOUT TRYING TO CONVINCE PEOPLE TO KILL THEIR PETS TO SAVE MONEY. especially when they can be saved or arent even in a life threatening situation. Why did these ppl become vets? Not because they want to help animals obviously. They just want money. I will never go there or recommend them. Heartless money grubbing monsters. Steer clear. without a doubt, the best veterinary care is found at Sherbrooke Heights Animal Hospital. I've had my mean old cat for forever and he's always been seen and treated with kindness and respect. I've only had my sweet Kaia for a little over a year now, and we've had superb care every time we go for 'wellness' and routine visits. but Kaia has had to be seen twice for emergencies, and - wow! the staff, every single one of them, are kind, caring, compassionate, knowledgable professionals who absolutely shine. and they all make you feel like you've been taken care of, too. and as if the best care in the clinic weren't enough, there's always a follow-up phone call or two just to make sure all is well. thank you, all of you, for your kindness, your caring and your expertise in treating our pets. We have been so impressed by the care at Sherbrooke Heights, it's so humane, sensitive and un-rushed. Recently our cat had a potentially deadly ailment, and it was taken care of so well. We switched vet services a number of years ago for convenience when we relocated to the west end. Fantastic experiences at Sherbrooke Heights! Quality of care for our dog is top-notch and they are always quick and efficient to schedule appointments with our dog. Super friendly staff, super knowledgeable vets. We have been through the best and most difficult of times with our Canine babies over the years. I have enjoyed providing a soft place to fall to some old dogs who through no fault of their own have found themselves facing the last of their lives in less than happy circumstances. my idea has been to give these dear neglected and sometimes even abused babies the best of what life can offer before it is too late. they are loved, spoiled, fed the best I can buy and thanks to Dr. Hiltz snd her team the best care too. often we entered into situations thinking that perhaps only three or six months may be all we can have together but in those times we have hsd years not months. When that dreaded time comes even then the care of Dr. Hiltz and her team shines. Such love, dignity and respect!! Even after during the grieving we have had a call a card a hand to help us. Huge thank you to Dr. Kristy Hiltz and here amazing team for the care they took of my dog Yoshi! Yoshi had broken the crown off a molar tooth but still had the roots there. I have had animals my whole life and have never had a more caring and personable vet!! I recently lost my Irish Wolfhound who was not quite two and Kristy was my rock through the whole ordeal. Not only was she crying at my side but was concerned for my own emotional well being. Not only is Kristy awesome, but her staff is AMAZING and make you feel like you're part of their family.
