went here last year for the first time and was disapointed because i felt they did not do a thorough check up on my husky and decided not to go back. had no choice to go back this year as other vets were weeks for an appointment, for starters they told me the flee and tick was only going to be 22$ which turned into 114$??? second she convinced me to check my dog for worms and they would have to draw blood from him in the back room and they were also going to cut his nails.i could hear him screaming in the back and another vet came and told me to take my dog sternly and that they would not do anything without him being sedated. he came to me with a muzzle on because she said they couldnt even take it off of him. she then told me to put him in my truck and pay my bill. i did so without question. My main concern with this establishment is that they could not perfom simple tasks such as cutting nails on a 60 pound dog, with a muzzle on. i went home and held the dog down myself and cut his nails. he did scream and he did nip at me but i did so without injecting him with chemicals and sedating him. the healthier way. I personally do not support vets that choose to use chemicals in animals exspecially when it is such a simple task. also note that this establishment has 5 stars and was not fully booked. the other veternary services in port perry have 3-4 stars and were booked for 3 weeks??? fake stars????? If this isn't your vet for the port perry/ uxbridge region I'd recommend them... all the staff are very patient and willing to take the time with you and any question you have. I have had very bad luck this year with most of my pets and they have been very kind and helpful for all of it. More than fair prices. You can tell that they actually care about the animals and not just the bank! I'm impressed by how well they remember pet names and such! Read Less

This morning we found a huge red wet blob under my golden retreiver's neck We had just moved to Port Perry and choosing a vet was not tops on our list Fortunately I saw a lot of good reviews and went to Scugog Animal Hospital. The receptionist quickly put my mind at ease that it was just a heat rash and Dr. Jessica Sherwin took care of us pronto. No waiting for an appointment, etc... Discussed all the alternatives and came up with a treatment plan we are all comfortable with. Pricing was more than fair and there was no pressure in any way to switch vet. I have taken my pets to Scugog Animal Hospital for over ten years. Over this time, the staff were always professional, kind to my pets and, on a personal note, very supportive to myself when things were not so good. Today, I was in with a concern I had re my cat. Always the warm welcome when you arrive and lots of attention to Mya. Dr. Sherwin listened patiently to my concerns and was reassuring.
