What a great guy and his wife is a real sweetheart too. Very caring, reasonably priced and thorough.
For those that left bad reviews, the prices of medications and treatments is set by the Ontario college of veterinarians. So the prices are really not in his control and they are going by the set rate. They are also allowed to make a profit as anyone running a business is entitled to. They can only raise it a set amount also following the Colleges guidelines. Go anywhere else, you’ll pay more.
As far as him being behind schedule, he does have emergencies and they will come before your pet who is there for a check up or shots or whatever the reason, if it’s not an urgent situation.
Imagine being a person who’s animal is in dire need and some disgruntled customer is pissed off because he was doing his job and saving a life. Get over yourselves!
I have owned ten ferrets over the years and he is my go to guy. He is knowledgeable, has kept them alive, longer than I would have expected when they have been hit with adrenal issues.
I was ready to give up on a couple of occasions and he talked me into trying one more thing. You know what? I am grateful he did. She is still with me today, seven years old and even with her adrenal issues, she is still going strong!

Dr Benjamin is a kind caring and gentle doctor.Don't expect a fancy waiting room or gift shop and that is reflected in his exceptional reasonably priced services.I recommend him to everyone.

Best vet we have found! Dr. Joseph was able to diagnose our dog's issues quickly and provide the appropriate care that other vets had missed. Just as importantly, Dr. Joseph's rates are second to none. Experienced, affordable and superb care. Our dog loves going to see him! No hesitation in recommending this clinic.

Great guy. Small office but he helped out cat who had a kidney infection. Told us what foods to avoid and helped him get rid of the flea problem we were battling all summer. Told us which meds to stay away from and helped the cat get rid of the dry skin patch on his back he has always had. Since taking him there our 10 year old cat has the energy and vigor of a 4 or 5 year old. His kidney problems went away with the change of food. Like all vets it was a little expensive but no more than any other place we have gone before. He is a very nice man and i would definitely go back

I found it hard finding a good vet in St. Catharines. Most charge too much and do not seem to have a lot of feelings for the animals.
Dr. Joseph has been great for our cat. Very tender and caring, gives great advice. His costs are quite good for a vet as well.

I have to disagree with the ferret owner's comment on Dr. Joe. Presently, I have 8 ferrets and each and every one has been thoroughly examined, treated and kept in good health, thanks to this very kind and experienced man. I have had a few that have had the unfortunate luck to become ill with adrenal disease. All of them are in great shape and have had their little lives extended due to the treatment they have received at Carleton Animal Hospital. Dr. Joe is knowledgeable and well informed of the latest treatments available to help combat this dreadful disease.
He has also treated my cats and our Conure parrot. All are happy healthy and thriving.
Both Dr. Joe and his lovely wife are kind and compassionate people, especially when it comes to the loss of a pet.
As far as his rates go, he is much cheaper than a lot of vets in this city and has to earn a living as well. So for those that complain about costs, perhaps you should have taken that into consideration BEFORE you became a pet owner. Vet costs go with the territory of pet companionship.
Also, for those that rated low with no explanation, you are trolls and friends of a disgruntled client. Very childish indeed.

Was bringing my ferret in annually for shots and a "brief examination". The prices were raised this year on both the examination and the shot for no valid reason. Not completely knowledgeable on the animal as a kibble diet was recommended even though they are obligate carnivores who are meant to be on whole prey. Prescribed him antibiotics once which did not help his stool issue he had at the current time and charges the examination fee each time you come in even though you do not need it every time. Brought the ferret in for the last time this year and he went straight to the shot without doing any examination. I had to remind and ask him to check his teeth, ears, eyes, belly ect and therefore was paying a pricey, raised cost for the checkup without him even preforming it which I found was unfair and upset me. I feel it was more of a quick business transaction rather than a genuine care for my animal. I do not feel it to be in my animals best interest to bring him there anymore.

Very recently, I needed a vet for my ball python. After searching around, I discovered that Dr.Joseph was the only vet in the area (Maybe in the whole region) who sees reptiles.
Not only was he very knowledgeable about my little guy, but I was relieved to find out that the care for him was very affordable. I am extremely grateful to have a knowledgeable reptile vet in Niagara, and not have to pay an arm and a leg to help my animal.
**Edited to add, my snake's health has bounced back very quickly, and any questions I have had about his treatment have been answered in a professional and honest manner. I have had an overall great experience with getting care for my beloved snake thanks to Dr.Joseph and his receptionist.**

Very unimpressed with this vet clinic. The Doctor was over an hour and a half late! The overall atmosphere of this vert clinc is 'laid back' and unprofessional. When we first arrived for our appointment time, the receptionist told us that the Vet was running an hour late and that she was trying to contact me via e-mail (which was impossible, since she didn't have my e-mail on file) and they never even attempted to call me ahead of time about this change. We left and came back an hour later and the vet was STILL not there. I left 15 minutes later and only then did they attempt to phone my cell phone (about a half hour after I had left), presumably looking for where I was. Extremely disappointed and would recommend taking your animals else where. Traveling is extremely stressful for my pets and to be told to wait twice in one night at the expense of stressing out my sick animal, I'm very annoyed with this clinic. For the sake of your animals, please find a different clinic to take them to.

Disappointed. I took my dog there due to an allergic reaction. Vet offered costly scratch tests. I explained I had my regular vet fax papers over as my dog had this reaction before and I asked if he looked at the paperwork , he said no. I asked him to give her same medication my previous vet gave her. I asked 3 times for the price, each time he left the room and came back but forgot to check the price of medication which I found out at front counter when I paid. I was paying for am exam so since the vet barely touched my dog and seemed scared of her, i had to ask him to examine her. His exam included checking her temperature in her ear and checking her heartbeat. That's it. The price was reasonable IF he had actually diagnosed her or read her paperwork to know what to do instead of me telling him and actually done a proper exam.

An excellent and caring vet. Has always made himself available for any of my dogs needs. We recently required surgery for Bichon Pomerania. Dr Joseph arranged for a board certified surgeon to do the operation at his hospital at a greatly reduced rate. Special thank you to Dr Joseph for the great care given to Emma.

What a great guy and his wife is a real sweetheart too. Very caring, reasonably priced and thorough.
For those that left bad reviews, the prices of medications and treatments is set by the Ontario college of veterinarians. Great guy. Small office but he helped out cat who had a kidney infection. Told us what foods to avoid and helped him get rid of the flea problem we were battling all summer. Told us which meds to stay away from and helped the cat get rid of the dry skin patch on his back he has always had. Presently, I have 8 ferrets and each and every one has been thoroughly examined, treated and kept in good health, thanks to this very kind and experienced man. Very recently, I needed a vet for my ball python. After searching around, I discovered that Dr.Joseph was the only vet in the area (Maybe in the whole region) who sees reptiles.
Not only was he very knowledgeable about my little guy, but I was relieved to find out that the care for him was very affordable. I am extremely grateful to have a knowledgeable reptile vet in Niagara, and not have to pay an arm and a leg to help my animal.
