After publicly embarrassing us in front of other clients, this clinic pre-agreed to a payment plan yet failed to mention the animal would not receive its medication until the payment plan was done.  Sacrificing an animals EYE over $150  - unwilling to trust a client who had been coming there for over 15 years!  So because we did not have $150 on the spot, family cat has to wait three months with pus and infection in eye.  Charged $500 for two visits to deal with a scratched cat eye they did not fix on the first visit.  What do they care about?  $$$$ or an animal's eye?  And they have posters all over their walls and rooms justifying their high prices and practices claiming high student loans!!! With a practice I guarantee makes about a million dollars if not more with all the vets that are there.  Never going there again.  Already found a better vet on Welland Ave.  A vet that claims to love animals yet for $150 will not provide medication to help put a cat out of its pain.  Disgusting.  Just disgusting.  Martindale Animal Clinic is about the money.  All about the money.  Call around before deciding to go there.  Strong suggest you do this before seeking treatment. It is long pass time I posted this review of Martindale animal clinic. I started with them in 2012 when moving to st.catharines. It been a most pleasurable experience. Meeting with and knowing Dr. McGill. My Dog was born with generic defects of the joints. Dr. McGill was always able to treat this very successfully through her life without harsh or expensive medication that did not cause harmful side effects. When I first meet Dr.McGill when my dog was 3 I asked if I could expect to have her with me till she was 10 or 12 years old. Her response was I don't see why not. She called it right. Dr.McGill has a unique unwavering commitment to animal welfare and care. As does her staff of vets ie Dr. Barns and Dr. Bailey. See takes time to make sure everyone that works in her clinic share her values. ( and I thank you all For everything you have done for me and alise) Now I would yo share the following. My Dog was presented to Martindale some months ago with a problem breathing. We seen Dr. Bailey I believe (sorry if I got that wrong). It was determined my dog had a ruptured tumor on her spleen. She needed surgery immediately. Dr.McGill was call on her day off. She happened to be in Toronto at the time once notified she without hesitation said she was returning immediately to preform the need surgery. She instructed her staff to prepare my dog while she was on her way. Surgery was successful tumor was benign. Without Dr. McGill years of experience and her commitment my dog would have passed that day I do believe this. Unfortunately my dog did pass some months later. This is of no felt or control of Martindale. Just old age and natural causes. Dr.McGill and her staff gave my dog the best options and care for a great quility of life. And believe me she did under the care of Martindale. It will be a said day for animals when Dr.McGill retires. Personal note to Dr.McGill here's to another 10+ Don t retire on us. I am looking forward to it. My wife was a breeder of GSD for 30 years.as such I have seen many vets and or clinics over the years. I can tell you by far Martindale is the single most superior in care and commitment in animal welfare I personally seen in my lifetime hands down. Their staff and services were fine, but their pricing is way too much. Every time I went in they informed me the prices had gone up. Before our last visit my wife turned to me and said If the prices are higher again than we should look into more affordable vets. Sure enough when we pulled out the debit card they informed us the price for flea and tick medication has once again gone up. I purchased a box, phoned a few other vet clinics and quickly realized the prices only seem to rise at this clinic. Other clinics offer much for affordable prices with the same level of care. We've been bringing our dogs here for over 15 years. I have alot of great stuff to say about the friendliness and helpful veterinarians here. They've helped us out greatly during difficult times. Our first dog lived a bright and quickly life and staff made us feel very comfortable. My only complaint is that they have a tendency for more tests than I feel necessary and they push that terrible dog food Royal Canin. I was originally going to give a 4-star review, since as others have said, this clinic is a bit pricier than some of the others. But after the quality of service Gizmo and I received from Dr.Barnes and her team, they definitely deserve 5 stars! I will break my review down by category, to give the highlights. Price: Yes, it's a bit more expensive to take your animals here. But, for the price you pay, you get an AMAZING staff (seriously, everyone there has an Honours Degree, lots of knowledge, and they care about your furry friends!), you get a vet who will consult with you even when you aren't scheduled in (Dr.Barnes took a good 15 minutes between appointments to consult with my boyfriend and I about our cat, answering every question we had), there are rooms designated for cats only, a lot of lab work is done on-site (including blood and urine analysis). Overall, you are paying for expertise, resources, and quality service. Even then, they are willing to work with you on financing, discounts, etc. wherever possible. Animal Care: Well, if I didn't believe in the care given here, I wouldn't have gone back after the 1st appointment. I initially took our cat in for a cold, and when Dr.Barnes noticed some abnormalities, which we ended up doing follow-up tests on. Now, our cat is on the path to the best quality of life, and I don't even know if another vet would have been as thorough. But, now I wouldn't want to risk it for my furry children. Accessibility: I bussed over with the cat. It's a super straightforward bus ride there, which is nice for reducing stress. The office itself is always clean, the staff will help you hold doors and bring animals out to your vehicle if need be. Appointments are also super accessible, with the staff aiming to get your animal in as soon as possible, around your schedule (which makes it great that they are open til 7 and on Saturday). Summary: If you want your pet to have quality care, Martindale Animal Clinic is a great choice. Don't get me wrong, there are other good vet clinics in the area, but I have had the most thorough, most accommodating service through Martindale, and will continue with them for my furry children's veterinary needs. 💕 Read Less

Martindale ClinicWhen I moved to Saint Catherines from Toronto, during the move my Chihuahua was unfortunately hit by a ladder! We rushed him to this clinic and they refused to see him because we had no appointment!! It was only 4:20 in the afternoon on a weekday! We pleaded with them and still they refused even though the vets were still there! I was absolutely astounded by their lack of compassion!!! We had to take him to the Emergency Clinic which is in Thorold. I have 3 dogs and a cat and would never take my pets to this horrible place. They always go above and beyond to make sure my dog is comfortable. They have performed life saving surgery on my dog, taken her in with little to no notice and allowed me to leave her there in their care at no cost while I was at work. I truly love this clinic and my dog does too! Read Less

We have a very nervous cat that requires extra time and patience, all of the doctors and support staff have been amazing with him from the start. I love the staff at this clinic! I've been taking my pug Bella here since we moved to the region and have been amazed at the level of service and care at this facility. Excellent medical assessments and follow through - when Bella slipped a disc in her spine and needed immediate surgery at OVC, Martindale was able to book me in for an emergency immediately with no delay. I have two cats who are weird with their illnesses but they always, always get great care here from all the staff doctors tech, front desk staff etc. They are all polite, caring, helpful and friendly to all. My cats even get a follow up call the next day by the doctors or a technicians to see how they are doing or if I have any questions. I don't even get that from my family doctor. They always go over the procedures etc, that they will do to them when needed and give you the cost upfront so you know. If you are a very busy person they will even deliver medicine or food if you can't get there for free I believe. I recently took my Border Collie to Martindale Animal Clinic for her yearly vaccines and check up. She is always so excited to get lots of pets and treats from everyone she meets. I was given lots of good suggestions as to how I can help her at home with her arthritis and hip dysplasia. I have had Fur Friends all my life and when I had to take my beloved Zena to a Doctor last Tuesday I knew I would not see her again.  She was 13 years old 8 months old.  I walked into the Clinic for the first time after having had her to several Vets here in St Catharines over the years and I was treated the BEST I have ever had.  They treated Zena the way I expect a Vet to treat her with gentle hands and such kind words to her.  All the staff I met was wonderful.  I cried so much and they completely understood.  I will be taking my dogs there forever now as I FINALLY met a Vet that REALLY CARES for your Fur Baby.  Thank you all of the staff.  You are the Best.Sharon Rebelo Read Less
