One thing I didn’t like at all was when they called and asked how my dog was doing and I said she hasn’t gotten better, they asked to come in for a fallow up on my dog and charged me again..... a follow up should be free special since you told me to come in to take a second look at my dog. Yesterday was Abby's first time at Birchmount. Abby is a 7 year old German shepherd/collie so gets excited but very nervous at the same time. Yesterday Abby was very nervous but because of the environment of the waiting room, she calmed down and was just sitting waiting to be called. We did have to wait about 30 minutes because they were backed up which is totally fine because that's normal when you have appointments for things. I wouldn't expect to walk right in for an appointment. This helped to allow her to calm down and have a little rest! What I loved about this vet was Abby was excellent. Dr. Barrett was so good with Abby, Abby allowed him to check her over plus give her all the needles she needed. Abby went to the back to get blood taken and her nails clipped and we just heard her whine for a few minutes. It was all over by the time we paid and if anyone knows Abby, she can be difficult and stubborn because of her nervousness temperament but not at Birchmount. Thanks! Read Less

Recently brought my cat in for the first time after needing to take him to the emergency hospital down the street and was advised a vet for followup. The staff at Birchmount and the Dr looking after my little guy were wonderful. Very informative and very willing to accommodate for urgent needs that came up overnight. My dog decided that he could take on a skunk this morning and found out fairly quickly that it wasn’t a good idea. I brought my 150 pound dog (who can be nasty at times) to VCA to help get rid of the skunk smell. If there is one think my dog does not like it’s baths. I have no idea how they would of been able to give him 3-4 treatments with blow drying. I was totally surprised when I picked him up that there is almost no skunk smell left! This place is absolute nonsense. DO NOT TAKE UR PETS HERE!! My dog, golden retriever came here for dog sitting for a day and he came back absolutely depressed. He came back with scratches all over his nose and completely thirsty.They stuff all their pets in cages for what they call "dog boarding" !!! DONT COME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very unorganized, bad service. I am not one to complain, but this clinic has been extremely negligent in giving my cat adequate care. First of all - almost every time I call I am put on hold for 5 minutes. I placed an order for my pet's medication and when I called to check up on the status of it the next day, they still had not placed it. The medication took two weeks to come and compromised the health of my pet. Last time I called to inquire they said they don't have it and would have to "look into it." 5 minutes later my sister received a call that they had received it. Not to mention we ran blood and urine tests about a month ago and did not receive any call back about the urine test, despite following up twice. The last time they said they had the results but the doctor would have to share them with me. It has been over a week and the doctor has not followed up.My pet's insurance company also contacted them for medical information and they have not provided it. LASTLY, my pet had a new prescription sent to the clinic from an animal hospital. I had to ask the animal hospital to send it to the clinic twice because they claimed they did not receive the prescription. When they finally did, they said they could not provide the medication and to contact the animal hospital for it instead. This is absurd, this clinic is supposed to take care of my pet and not once did they follow up, or provide the adequate care. Not to mention my pet is suffering from a serious condition. The doctors themselves are not the problem, but this clinic is not dependable. Read Less

Sadly, I have had many negative experiences with 'emergency vets' in the past-- not only have some seem uninterested in seeing a non-client with a cat with already existing health issues, they also charged a fortune to do very little, and encouraged a great deal of unnecessary testing. My experience at Birchmount clinic was exactly the opposite. My cat was seen immediately, and thankfully the staff did not associate themselves with the common stigma associated with FIV+ cats. They were all genuinely kind to and affectionate toward my cat. He is usually nervous having been a stray, but was very comfortable with all of the vet techs as well as Dr. Holland. Dr. Holland was beyond amazing, not only was he very personable, he showed a genuine kindness and evident love for animals. He was also very forthcoming with his professional opinions - he went far beyond the call of duty when he sought out to other professionals with an x-ray he took of my cats lung before making a full diagnosis. He did this on his own time, and without charging me an extra fee, something I have never seen a veterinarian professional do in the past. I will certainly be back to see Mr. Holland whenever I need honest and compassionate advice in the future. We went for a clinic tour as we were looking for a vetenarian for our 10 week old GSD. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left, no complaints. Our puppy absolutely loved the clinic and staff and my fiance and I are so happy. The staff were so kind and showed so much love. From this experience, I highly recommend this clinic. i have been bringing my Jake and Stella to Birchmount for over 10yrs. i remember the little teeny tiny house which used to be the clinic on the same site. I have been seeing the same vet (Dr. Radchenko) for all these years. Dr. Barret has performed a couple of surgeries as well, with great results. Birchmount Vet Clinic has the best team of Veterinarians, Vet Techs and Staff. All are kind and friendly and most willing to help in any way they can. I don't think I have one bad thing to say about this vet clinic. Other than the fact they don't cater to reptiles. My family and I have been going here for years and always brought every animal we owned here. I recently had 2 of my animals pass away and Birchmount Vet most especially the lovely receptionist/vet assistant Cassandra helped me and my family tremendously with the whole transition. They went as far as sending us lovely flowers and cards as well as phone call checkups. I highly recommend this vet to anyone.Read Less

Super place with amazing staff. When I had to deal with the loss of my cat the staff were super understanding and didn't leave me sobbing in the waiting area. They quickly moved me to a private room to say my goodbyes and let me use a separate entrance to leave. It was so kind I've brought my other animals for care. Excellent vets willing to go the extra mile so I could save my cat. Took wonderful care and very non judgmental. Costs are really reasonable. Good vet care is just plain pricey but great staff that honestly care about you and your pet are priceless. Read Less

I'm a new pet owner to my adorable loveable toy Maltese, named Marty.  From day 1,  I have had nothing but exceptional service from Marty's veterinarian Dr. Peiman Hojjati and all the friendly, compassionate staff there. I even 'checked-in' on Facebook one day, and my post was flooded with comments of how amazing this place is.  It's been around a long time for a very good reason! Recently, my puppy's test results came back negative for a parasite, and I was extremely frightened to the point of almost breaking down in tears over the phone to several of the staff.  They addressed the situation right away, and repeatedly kept in touch with me with instructions on how to administer the prescription. They are so compassionate and they will love your fur baby like their own. Dr. Hojjati always kisses Marty goodbye after his routine visit and I find that extremely heartwarming.  I always leave there feeling at ease. They definitely put their heart and soul into their work, and hand pick their staff and assistants from some place of a higher, magical power.  Thank you for loving my Marty! The feeling is mutual! I've had a few times where things have happened that I needed immediate help and they were all there to assist me no matter what that meant! Dr. Woo always helps my dog.  She helps not only my dog's health condition but also my emotion whenever my dog gets sick.  She is very reliable and knowledgeable.  I am very happy to find her.   Also like their stuffs.  They are so friendly, helpful and efficient.  Their daycare is very safe and clean environment.  If they find something wrong with my dog's health condition that I missed, they ask Dr. Woo to check my dog.  Lastly, this clinic is one minute away from Emergency vet clinic.  It is so convenient when they have to send their clients to there.  I and my dog are super happy with their clients. I was catsitting for a friend and the cat suddenly stopped eating and going to the bathroom and started hiding.  I know this is a bad sign for any cat so I took her into Birchmount Vet.  The vet did some feeling around and said that her bladder was very full which was very concerning.  Plus he said he found a mass which also concerned him and she seem dehydrated.  He then went on to recommend a battery of tests that would have ran around $1,200.  He also said that at this point, I should consider 'quality of life' for the cat.  Since she wasn't my cat, I couldn't make the call on this so I talked with the owner by phone.  We agreed that we would have the vet just rehydrate her and then the owner would pick up the cat and bring her to her own vet to check her out the next day.  The cat ended up getting better right after getting rehydrated.  She then went to her own vet who did a checkup and said she was fine and probably just not feeling well for a day or so.  The cat was completely fine after 2 days.  We still don't know what exactly the issue was.I would never say that diagnosing an illness is easy.  However, it concerned me that Birchmount Vet would receommend a slew of tests right off the bat without much inspection.  The full bladder?  Solved after the cat went to the washroom after being rehydrated. The mass?  A small scar from surgery years ago.I was left with the impression that this place knows more about making money than diagnosing your pet.  Just know this before you go here. Read Less

This clinic is absolutely fabulous. I would never think for a minute of taking my Lab anywhere else. The staff are wonderful, kind and caring and I have no problem getting an appointment the same day. My Lab was diagnosed with hip dysplasia 6 months ago and only 3 years of age. Each veterinarian that she has seen has been very, very supportive to both of us. Even though they can be a bit pricey, they are definitely worth it. Many thanks to everyone at Birchmount. Read Less

I just brought my dog in this clinic and we were turned away as the only Vet left in the clinic decided not to see us as she/he was leaving at 6:pm, I was told.  I told them that I thought they are open until 7:00 on Saturday but I was told that it's the option of the Vet if they want to leave early....huh????  I have a dog who was sick and in needs of their service, the Vet is still in the clinic and they are advertising and posted on their window that they are open until 7:00 but why they turned us away while we arrived in the clinic even before 6:00 pm.Will never come back in this clinic!  I do not believe that this clinic truly care about animals or your pets.Stay away from this Veterinary Clinic for your own pet safety. ...i have 2 dogs, and have been going here for almost 7 years. it once upon a time was operating out of a little cottage looking house and now have transformed into quite a large establishment fully equipped with day care, spa and pet resort. I have only been a client of veterinary services, never tried the grooming or boarding. while this place is quite professional, it became so professional to a fault. i remember the warmth and genuine concern i felt in this clinic when i first started coming here. now i feel like a transaction. prices have gone up over the years but i keep coming back because i know the job will be done right but i do miss the homely feeling this place once had. I've been coming to BVC for 17 years now and yes, the bills can get steep at times but the service is second to none.When we got our first Aby, we lived relatively close to this clinic but over the years we've moved a few times and now we live nowhere near them and still come here.Dr. Jones has put up with A LOT of  (ummmm...) "attitude" from both of my Abyssinians and I reckon his assistants haven't made it through unscathed either.We have always been able to discuss with Dr. Jones the best health care options for our boys and I know I am receiving an honest and professional opinion.Everyone at this clinic is kind, courteous and most importantly... they put up with my cat(s). The vets and staff at Birchmount Veterinary Clinic are amazing.  I took my dog Nikita there for 6 years and Dr. Radchenko provided Nikita with exceptional care through various health issues and I credit her with Nikita living 15+ years.   The care that Dr. Radchenko and the staff at the clinic provide is exceptional, and you and your pet are always greeted cheerily when you arrive.At the end of Nikita's life, the compassion that Dr. Radchenko, Dr. Jones and staff showed was comforting and made you feel that you were more like a friend than a customer.I highly recommend this clinic! I have been sending my dogs in for boarding while I am away for vacations for the last 10 years.It used to be a really small in a split level bungalow.. before they rebuilt the whole Kennels next door and turn it in a more modern kennel.The staff here at the kennel is great! They know the name of my dog much better than me! When I walked in my dog is always greeted and everyone calling his name and say hi and welcome....They don't lock up the dogs in the cage for the whole day, nor the exercise time are done in the private runs. There are play time for them, they usually has dogs the same size and temperment sharing toys and play together. If your pet stay in the executive suite, they got to hang out the whole day in the play group socializing with other dogs..In order to do that, there are pages of questionaires need to be filled out before your pet can be checked in. They are really strict with vaccinations (all has to be up to date with Bordetella) and flea control (regardless they will administer flea control when your pet check in) and pest control (fecal has to be tested within the last 6 months), male has to be neutered in order to be in the play group.Of course you can pay for extra play time, belly rub, massages, a full spa treatment, doggie ice cream...  they has a room service menu!(Maybe I should I staying in the kennel instead of on a vacation)Now I know why my dog always has so much fun while I am on vacations... Though I am always in shock when I paid for his bill when I come and pick him up!There are surcharges if you want to bring your own food... but they will accomodate for special diet if needed.. or they can give you the food they fed a few days before boarding to let you dog get use to it.
