I have taken in 2 cats and a puppy. The care and love Sam shows the animals is unbelievable. Her staff is kind, patient, and pleasant. Appointments run on time but you never feel rushed out the door. It is the first vet I've been to where I felt like they cared more about my pets then about how much they could charge me for the visit. It is always an amazing experience. Not the best place to bring fear aggressive animals and not a lot of compassion for the dying.... My dog is fear aggressive, doesn't deal well with other animals when she's on leash, as she feels vulnerable. I asked if they could keep the waiting room vacant for a few minutes but they refused to keep the waiting room clear on either side of my dogs appointments saying that they can't accommodate that request. It isn't fair to the other animals who have to wait longer and can't guarantee this. I was then told my dog stresses the other animals out. That doesn't surprise me, she didnt want to be there. Didn't like the smells, or the mean secretary who's no longer there. I was told not to bring my dog in without a muzzle so she doesn't snap at the staff who try and touch her. Since she got out of her muzzle several times, including her last time at Lock One, I decided to find a vet who can deal with my dog more effectively. They leave the room clear on either side of my appointments for her to go in early and sniff and try to relax. She is more than able to have the vet get close to her easily and without muzzle, rather than wasting time tying to play dog whisperer and getting down on all 4's they just go in, do what they have to do and we leave. Sam is a good vet, but not for everyone. And she once told my dog with me in the room trying to hold her that she was not scared of her and has put down bigger dogs than her and she wouldn't be the last. I decided that was unprofessional and the last time I'm going to take her there. It was not a nice thing to say. My entire family and extended family has brought their animals to Lock One for the last 15 years or more, tallying over 20 animals in that time. After the lack of compassion the showed today not calling back a distraught and emotional customer (a family member who has 8 animals you treat) call you, who then made another phone call that another staff member received, it was said to them that they could drop the aminal off but you have to leave him and you'd put him down when you get to him....this wasn't fair or humane, nor was the comment to bring him back in 3 days (kidney failure)....The 18 year old family cat had to die alone today and without the people who loved him most present as he howled as loud as his weakened self could being taken to the back of the clinic awaiting his death alone. I'm glad I got my dog out of this place a few years ago. I suggest you all do the same unless you get better privaledges than my family who have a combined 11 pets that are "cared for" here. Because they didn't know when their cat was going to die and couldn't plan ahead they had to leave the cat alone, when they only wanted to be there to ease him to the unknown. You've really broken the hearts of this family. Read Less
