Disappointing, uncaring and over priced.
My 12 yr old daughter and I brought our calm well trained silver lab here for an appointment. When we opened the door just a couple of inches to enter the clinic a dog that was inside, not leashed, attacked our dog and bit her on the nose. I pulled the attacking dog off my dog as it's teeth were stuck in my dogs nose. Our dog had a big heavy bleeding laceration on her nose. We remained outside to calm my daughter and comfort our dog. I then went in and asked what the heck just happened. To my surprise the owner of the clinic himself told me that they have had issues with the attacking dog with aggression in the past. Of course that shocked me. I asked why the dog was not on a leash or had a muzzle on then? He replied, dogs will be dogs, I said no we come here expecting a safe enviroment not only for our fury friends but for our kids too. Really felt the situation was looked after poorly.and without much compassion to my daughter and our dog, especially when they were aware this was a dog with aggression issues. After our appointment and listening to the owner vet call our dog monkey over and over again, we really felt like we were the cause of this incident and not the victim by their uncaring staff. When I was paying our bill I mentioned to the woman behind the counter how unhappy we were treated. She seemed again not to really care, I then went on to say a situation like this to the wrong person could lead to a law suit, mainly hopeing to hear a more caring reply but to my surprise or maybe really I was not surprised, she said she did not care as it would not be her that would get sued but the business. Wow, really?? Is this the way you would like to be treated?
Now onto a more recent event, oh and my daughter still does not like going there and truthfully we probably should have changed vets, but then you have to get your pets all looked at and diagnosed all over again when you change it made more sense to stay. Our other dog glands under his neck swelled up to the size of a hard baseball. We brought the dog in and were offered 3 was to approach this, one a surgery biopsy, two a needle biopsy that did not guarantee the results and thirdly try antibiotics. Not sure if it was the cost of the biopsies or a gut feeling but we decided to try the antibiotics. When we were getting ready to pay, the acting vet came out and said, even thought the antibiotic label says to give for 14 days I only puy 1/2 in to see if it works, which made sense but was not informed if it did work and required the remaining 1/2 pills that I would be charged again The dispensing fee. Well luckily the antibiotics worked so i went in to pick up the other 1/2 of the antibiotics and of course I was charged a dispensing fee again. I questioned them to why I should have to pay for the dispensing fee twice, more out of the fact that it felt like double dipping and bad business as I do frequent the clinic often as our other dog has diabetes. They instructed me that I had to pay for it and the owner would call me. Well he called me and of course his reply was that is the way we do it. I stated that your staff should make your customers aware of this prior to your staff making the decision of only dispensing 1/2 the pills originally. And again mentioned the double dipping situation and bad business sense. Got no where with him, told him to get my dogs files ready and I will be picking them up and changing vets. Enough is enough!!
PLEASE FIND YOURSELF A BETTER VET SERVICE, We pay enough and should be treated caringly and respectfully.
There is a difference between smart business and greedy business, luckily there a lots of smart businesses in the area, run by good people and being self employed most of my life I live by the rule of smart business. I put sydneham vet clinic in the greedy category and will no longer support it.
I do have to say one good thing, the 2 women vets I have met there have always been great, knowledgeable and understanding,. Read Less
