My family and I are extremely grateful for the Smith Veterinary Hospital, the wonderful staff, and especially Dr. Pinto and Erin! My cat was sick, he was lethargic and clearly in distress. Our regular vet clinic was closed for the long weekend and we desperately needed to see another vet. We found the Smith vet clinic based on google search and reviews. They were able to accommodate us quickly for an appointment within a few hours on a Saturday long weekend. When we arrived we were greeted by smiling and friendly faces and promptly taken to the exam room. Dr. Pinto was exceptional! She was friendly, patient and took her time to examine my cat carefully. She explained everything to us and made us feel at ease. Our Gucci is usually very frightful and timid but he was certainly more comfortable in Dr. Pinto's hands. After getting appropriate workup and treatment, she advised us on outpatient management that was very reasonable and provided with re-assurance and clear instructions on what to do when to follow up. We have had prior bad experiences with vets, feeling that we were recommend unnecessary treatments that were over priced. Dr. Pinto chose the most economical and least invasive choices. We will continue going to this clinic and without a doubt recommend this clinic to any animal who needs an honest, trustworthy, compassionate care. We can't thank you enough! Read Less

Dr. Herzog is a knowledgeable and compassionate vetrinarian. The staff here are wonderful. I would highly recommend this clinic. My dog has had laser therapy at the clinic and had phenomenal results. Prior to treatment she often required help to just stand up. Now she is able to comfortably go for walks. Read Less

Dr. Sean Herzog- my family and I cannot express our gratitude to you for all that you have done for our baby, our puppy Mickey. Dr. Sean worked hard to save our Mickey- aside from medical treatmet, he called regularly to ask how Mickey was feeling. Yesterday, our Mickey became too ill and we had to make the hardest decision of our lives. We are devastated by the loss of our puppy but Dr. Sean Herzog is one of the most compassionate doctors we have ever met. He returned to the clinic upon news of our sick Mickey (he was about to leave for the day), and patiently walked us through everything. It was obvious that our pain was his pain. I called the clinic to ask about picking up a bag of a specific dog food and the staff knew what type I was talking about before I finished my sentence. They're very kind, polite and knowledgeable, and they're extremely professional. The clinic itself is clean and modern on the inside. They are nice enough but money hungry.Went in for just a nail trim. Was told I must get the rabies vaccination since the cat was due. I said no problem and confirmed the price for the trim and the vaccination before proceeding. My bill ended up being $100 more than I was initially told as they decided to throw in a physical exam without my asking and without telling me. Was not needed. My cat had her last full physical 6 months prior and is only 2 and in great shape. The vet saw my cat for about 5 minutes and charged me $100 for that. I fought it saying I never asked for a physical and they wouldn't budge. They told me a full physical was mandatory with any vaccination. Even though they had record of a healthy physical 6 months prior! Insane.Found a new vet and they don't have the same greedy policies. Read Less

My parents have been taking our golden retrievers to Smith Veterinary Hospital for over 30 years. The vets and staff are extremely caring, trustworthy, honest and passionate about what they do. Everyone at Smith Vets truly loves animals, and make it a priority to put both animals and their owners at ease. Last week, one of our dogs had to have a large lump removed from his neck. I was completely distraught at the thought of him going under for surgery. Staff were great at explaining the entire procedure. I was able to call frequently to check in on Brody to see how the surgery was going. As soon as the surgery was over, Dr. Cox called us herself to give us an update and let us know that he was ok. As we couldn't pick him up until later, when the anesthetic wore off, staff sent us email updates with pictures of Brody to assure us that he was doing well. After Brody came home, staff called us for a few days to check in on him and see how the incision was healing. Smith Veterinary Hospital is customer service oriented, the wellbeing of animals and their owners being their primary concern. The staff and especially Dr Sean just exude such a passionate love of dogs and humans (Case in point : This evening Dr Sean even inquired about my broken ankle. I'm tempted to have him treat me. My boyfriend's dog turned very sick one day all of a sudden so we rushed him to this animal hospital because it is only a few minutes drive away from our home. It turns out that his dog had suffered acute liver failure and may not survive if medication could not help his liver regenerate itself. He stayed at Smith Animal Hospital for 2 nights and staff let us visit him anytime we wanted to. They would stay on the phone for 20-30 minutes explaining what the problem is, what we could do, and what they're doing to help. Even when we went to visit, the doctor took the time to thoroughly explain everything to us to put us at ease. They even sent picture updates every so often via email to let us know how he was doing. I have had a couple of dogs over my lifetime. Been to at 5 vets between here & Peterborough, grooming too! This is the VERY BEST veterinary service me and my new puppy have received. Everything was explained very clear, what to expect. The puppy's first adult hair cut I was really nervous. Wow he came out looking like a little gentleman. I've been taking my pets there as long as I've had pets. Smiths has always taken good care of them, and me as well. My dog Oscar got sick this week, and when I called I was very distraught. The girls that answered the phone took the time to calm me down and told me to bring him in right away. My mom picked up Oscar and took him right over. Dr Sean checked him over right away and called me and explained. Well, Oscar is home with his.antibiotics and cream for his sore tushy, and he's feeling better already ! The one bad review is the correct review.  The others must be her staff or friends.  Dr. Dana Cox killed my cat.  Why would an Emergency Vet refer this place for an old cat as the review says, it makes No sense so that review is incorrect.  I know everything about medicine. Dr. Cox knows nothing and admitted that she didn't know anything about his heart condition.  I warned her that he can't have any fluids.  Dr. Cox told me to take my old cat to an Emergency & just as I was deciding, the $$ sounded better so she went to take blood work from him and stick him with a shot of fluid under his skin. I WARNED her again and she just nodded. I am heartbroken & sick to my stomach that I let her take him away my precious baby in her incompetent hands as well as staff to the back. She takes Xrays, bloodwork & sticks him with the fluid. I expected it to be a shot under the skin but when she brought him back, she said there was a bulge of fluid on his back. They left it in there when I specifically told her that he can't have fluids due to his heart. He was the talk of the Vet & walking around when I brought him in. Within 10 minutes, he was yelping, crying in pain and paralyzed. She put him into Cardiac Arrest. She then says he is critical, no time to go to Emergency but he needs blood AND BEST OF ALL, she carries NO BLOOD and has to get another cat half hour away for a transfusion (I didn't know that I was in Siberia). My Cat died within 10 minutes. She killed a beautiful cat. He would eventually die, let it be on his own and not at the hands of this incompetent Vet that should NEVER EVER PRACTICE OR TOUCH AN ANIMAL AGAIN!  DO NOT GO HERE. Read Less

Vet assistants were very friendly and professional and took care of our elderly cat very well. Dr. Dana was extremely attentive and took great care of him too. Every single person at Smith's Veterinary Clinic does what they do out of love and dedication. Some people think they're pricey but from my experience they're totally reasonable. This is a great vet hospital. I took my dog in for a follow-up check up after he was limping for a few days. They were so caring and answered all my questions. They ran several tests and took their time. Also, the pricing seemed reasonable. I have visited this vet for a few visits and have never been disappointed. This is the worst clinic. All they are interested in is billing and will do as many tests as possible, just so they can charge. I took my dog to the clinic for his entire life, as I thought that it was best for him to have consistency. I thought it was the best decision for my dog but I was wrong. I wish I had changed clinics much sooner. In the end, they didnt even have the decency to express condolences on his loss. And I am so grateful that he spent his last visit for his final rest at a much more caring and considerate veterinary clinic. Do yourself a favour, and stay away from that horrible place. Read Less
