I’ve been bringing my cat there for years and he always sees Dr.Durfy. My cat has issues with his skin and excessively licking and Dr. Durfy has been wonderful with him. She even has called me back ASAP when I have questions or concerns but don’t necessarily have to go in. Well recently he took a turn for the worse and his skin is in bad shape... I live out of town and called to see if I can get him in to see her Within a few days but also if she can call me back so she can give me a suggestion until I get in. Well the receptionist was very rude and I can’t get in for 2 weeks. I said well he’s in bad shape I guess I’ll have to find somewhere else to go and she said “yah I guess you do, ok bye”. I was so upset and I feel like if Dr. Durfy knew this she wouldn’t be happy. Unfortunately I will be going somewhere else as my parents have had the same issue with their animals. Read Less

I called the only bird vet in thunder Bay Dr. Durfy at High view animal clinic. I explained to the receptionist that my cockatiel had an area the size of a toonie under one wing and it was bleeding. Could I get an appointment for him to be seen. She said she'd have to talk to Dr. Durfy as she decides who she sees and when she said she'd call me back. Two days later there was a message on my answering machine saying I had an appointment with the vet 10 days from now. I called them back and said I didn't think the bird would last that long and asked for their email so I could send Dr.Durfy pictures to show her how bad it was. The receptionist was very rude and snapped back that the vet won't diagnosis from a picture. I said I never expected her to I just thought if she saw how bad it was she may have the heart to see him sooner. He was failing fast. She gave me the number and I asked if they could call me after the vet saw them. I sent the pictures right away. Three days later they never even bothered to call me back! I have lost all respect for High view. It's not just a bird! He was part of our family for over 10 years. He could sing jingle bells, chatting hockey cheers, talked to us clear as a bell. He was smarter than alot of people! As far as I'm concerned. Even though I'm told Dr.Durfy is the only exotic vet in Thunder Bay, I don't feel Thunder Bay has any at all. If she can't even get back to someone who has a dying animal she has no heart or compassion for our pets. In my opinion she's in the wrong business! I've never had worse service in my life, if I could give zero stars I would. I took my dog in at 9:20am and only just got him at 3:50pm almost 4 hours after the vet had left. They did not call me like they said they would, after waiting 6 hours not wanting to start anything my mom called to see what was going on, thinking that something bad had happened. They had no idea what she was talking about. When I got there to pick him up, they lied straight to my face, they told me the cell number I left was disconnected, which yes you could argue that they may have wrote it down wrong but they said that they didn't have it at the desk when the vet said she was going to add it to his file before we left this morning. The lie become undeniable when they said they left a message on the home phone which is my mom's cell on the file, I called her as soon as I got home and she has no calls or messages from highview. Not only did they not call us but I believe they completely neglected my dog, he got home and proceeded to drink a lot of water and eat a fair amount of food, I'm convinced they completely forgot about my dog all together. I've never felt so angry leaving an animal clinic before. I also feel sick thinking about how many other animals they may have done this too. They have lost 4 pets of clients today and I plan on telling everyone I know to not go to this clinic. Read Less

Though my cat was sick for some time, there came a day that his symptoms took a sharp turn for the worst. It was obvious he was going to die that day, so my family and I decided we'd spare him more suffering and bring him in to be euthanized. The sudden onset of his symptoms meant we weren't able to book an appointment, and the attitude we were given for dropping in was unreal. I'm sorry my cat didn't give two weeks written notice about this? We were also told that there was an additional fee if we were present during out cat's final moments. I felt like an inconvenience, and all but one member of the staff present were totally cold. I couldn't bare to ever bring an animal here again.Read Less

Highview is the first animal clinic where I felt like my pets where truly cared for. In the past I always felt like my previous veterinarians were trying to rush me in and out the door with as minimal interaction with me and my animals as possible. A visit to Highview starts with warm greetings at the front desk to friendly and thorough treatments. My pets are a very important part of my life and it's nice to know that there is a place that will treat and care for my critters as I would. It's obvious that the staff are true animal lovers and I will continue to take my pets here and recommend this business to others.Read Less
