After advocating and voicing concern for this clinics practices to an individual and posted to social media reviews which they don’t seem to care for poor reviews have sent me this letter. They not only have they denied me regular care and emergency care with their practice they have also denied me care emergency and non with other practices due to partnership. Northwest surely proves they don’t care for the animals and lack any ethic. The fact that they would deny an animal care especially when all veterinary clinics are at capacity for clients is utterly disgusting and sad. They have not only done this to myself but many others including the other people who stood up and voiced their concerns that day for this individual. If you were unhappy with the medical care received by a medical professional in a hospital setting do you think they would deny you medical service? No they would not so what makes it ok for a veterinary clinic to do this, in addition to denying you from other facilities. Read Less

The injustice placed on the elderly women on August 27th, 2022 who had been denied permission to sit with her canine companion at the end of life at the Northwestern Veterinary Hospital had proven to be traumatizing for so many people. The injustice that has been placed on those individuals and their fur babies including myself who made a sincere, respectful, and honest effort to advocate for the elderly women on this day and following days is proving to be even more traumatizing. Below is a letter outlining the decision made by the Northwestern Veterinary Hospital to discontinue services (including emergency services) which include three district veterinarian clinics in the city of Thunder Bay to my animal companion who is considered exotic which means trained veterinarian services are extremely limited. The decision has been most impactful to those receiving their letters including myself. More so, knowing that this hospital is fully aware of the current hold on new client applications with other veterinarian clinics district wide is absolutely disheartening and is proving to show that the care for their clients (the animals) is not an actual priority. It is my hope that anyone reading this understands that this may one day be you. Please be sure to choose your trusted care provider wisely. I would like to thank those 7 people who stood up for the rights of another. We need more people like this in the world! I am sorry that the moment of community based advocacy has lead to such an outcome for us all. Read Less

I am extremely appalled with the service provided by Northwest veterinary clinic in the past and today. Today an elderly lady had to bring her dog in to be put down. This clinic refused to let her in to a room to allow her to spend last moments with her dog and have also refused to let her go to be with her dog to be put down. This also happened to me when I had to euthanize my dog. I had to leave my dog at the main door to be taken. Regardless of Covid or not it is unacceptable. Whatever your poor excuses are: lack of space, not a client. No excuse is acceptable. Sorry. You have no problem asking for the money right away for proving the service. As I stated in a letter before to your clinic, provide PPE if required, allow only one family member in the room, something. Other veterinary clinics have during Covid and now allow people to be with their pets. As a pet owner it is a responsibility to be there till the bitter end. Not to place him on a hook to be picked up or taken by a stranger and brought in like a death row inmate. We have to live with these last moment of leaving them with strangers and not to be seen again and the look of abandonment. Animals are traumatized enough just going to the vet, never mind being left to be put to it’s death. Northwestern staff do not have to live with the regret and constant replay that he took his last breath without his family with them, comforting him as well as having that final closure for ourselves as pet owners. Also, living with the fact that your pet couldn’t understand why he was dropped off and left alone with strangers to die. At a most traumatic time for both a dog and it’s owners this clinic lacks professionalism and compassion. I would have hoped your clinic over the last fe years would have taken the time to truly understand this pain and loss that not only a family is going through but I see that you haven’t. It’s horrible and truly unfair. Once again thank you all for robbing us all of this closure and time to be with our beloved pets in their final moments. You guys truly make me sick! I am so outraged as are many others who witnessed this today. Read Less

Let us make an appointment with them even though our cat had never been there before (we live 6 hours away). Took us in at 12 in the morning as our cat's health declined and it was an emergency situation. In the morning they called with bad news, but the staff there were so unbelievably supportive. They took care of my dear Smokey and us, walked through each thing they did and the Vet staff treated him as their own pet. I am ever so grateful for this vet clinic. This veterinarian practice has been outstanding! When we adopted a rescue cat, and after taking her to another practice in town, we sought a second opinion here and I am glad we did! The veterinarian we saw was fantastic! We asked her to check our cats ears for mites (that we had abother hospital check for twice) and found some immediately. Because of this fantastic veterinary service we were able to get the proper treatment for our pet. They have also been more than accommodating with schedules and squeezing us in when we've really needed it. Would recommend this veterinary practice to everyone. Read Less

I have the up most respect for this clinic, the vets and the staff that work here. Carter (Our Dog) has been seeing the vets here since day one. The reception is Always Pleasant and Helpful. Carter was Diagnosed with Diabetes when he was 9, and in 2 weeks he will be 14. They have been prompt on any issues there has been and more then helpful and patient. Carter got a Melting Ulcer in his eye a year ago.... It is uncommon and something that an ophthalmologist (eye doctor ) would look after. The nearest one was 6 hours away in another country... The team at the vets did research and a long story short, they made a serum with Carters Blood. They spun his blood and separated the white and red blood cells. They made a serum with his white blood cells, and also prescribed and antibiotic... His Eye healed. They also offer Laser therapy at the clinic. Carter had a fall and crushed a disc... through the laser therapy they were able to heal his back... It is an Amazing Clinic with an Amazing Team. I am very grateful to have such a great clinic here, as they have helped prolong Our Pets Life more than once. Read Less

I see a lot of negative comments here and felt I had to share my opinion about the clinic. I've been bringing get my animals there for a number of years and I don't have much money and they have always been helpful and respectful. They would set up a payment plan to help me pay the bill but if you don't pay on time they will not help that way again. Understandable. 2 yrs ago my 14 yr old Rottie was brought in because she was tired all the time and stopped eating and we had to carry her up stairs. I can't tell you what I would've done if those nice people at Northwestern weren't there to help me through this time. It turned out she had cancer in her spleen and wasn't producing enough red blood cells and there was nothing they could do for her. I had to bring her back a week later to have her put down. I will forever miss my Precious (that was her name) and will never forget the help and compassion of their staff. Thank you to all at Northwestern Veterinary Clinic! Read Less
